"So we have a very interesting match up here, don't we?" Joshua said." We both have a water type Pokémon but then you have a Dark/Fighting-type Pokémon while I have a Dark/Flying type. Advantage to me it would seem."

He took just a second to analyze the situation. This would be rather interesting.
"Froakie, use Smokescreen!"

"Froak!" The frog-like Pokémon said before jumping into the air. It opened it's mouth and exhaled a cloud of thick smoke, which surrounded Sigurd's Pokémon and blocked everyone's view.

"Type advantages can be the deciding factor of a match, but it only depends on the trainer." Sigurd said. "Let's see what happens. Will I climb over my first obstacle or will I fall in the beginning." Dammit why did this trainer have such a powerful aura? It was like this guy was ten times his size. Just who was he?

Damn, this guy was trying to hinder him and his pokemon's vision straight from the start. They couldn't see a bloody thing though it just occurred that this was a double edged sword. While Sigurd's team can't see, neither could Joshua's team. "Brunhilda, use Hydro Pump while twisting your body to the right!"

"Pip!" The blue penguin shot a powerful torrent of water from its beak, blasting right out of the smoke. The torrent of water turned like it was an arm swinging towards Joshua's pokeon when the Piplup twisted its body.

Andre frowned as the boy pretty much insulted him, then took off in a huff. Andre expected that he wouldn't have a pleasant reaction to the whole kissing thing, but that still didn't excuse him for being rude. He never understood why so many boys had such bad reactions when he greeted them the way he does. There was nothing wrong with a little affection. Andre wanted to go after him and have a few words with him, but by the time he got out of the lab.

Andre scoffed, and decided to forget about the rude boy. There were plenty of other people present to speak to, surely he could find someone more polite. and would be appreciative of the fact that a star was speaking to them. He didn't have to look very hard, someone had actually approached him. A casually dressed girl in shorts and a sweatshirt. Andre made a mental note to himself that he would have to take her shopping later if he got the chance. It was sad to see girls put so little effort into their clothes when they had so many choices available. She had asked him to participate in a double battle against her and her friend. While he would gladly do anything for his fans, most of Andre's experience from battling came from making movies, but those battles were usually rigged to produce a certain outcome. He had never done a real battle before. It didn't seem like it would be too difficult.

Andre looked at his Cleffa, and asked for her opinion. "Hm... Jolie, what do you think?"

"Cleffa clef!" The pink Fairy type said confidently, as she struck a pose.

Andre nodded, then turned back to the girl. "Very well Ma chérie. We will have a battle." He said with a smile. "But I am going to need to find a partner..." He looked around, and saw that there weren't very many choices. Everyone else was already engaged in a battle themselves. The only one that wasn't battling was a boy with curly hair, and with a unique sense of fashion himself. Unlike with the girl though, he could tell he at least put some effort into the clothes he was wearring. Andre approached the boy. "Pardonne moi. I have been challenged to a double battle, and I am in need of a partner. Would you be willing to participate?"

The First Battle: Cyndaquil vs Zangoose

The Cyndaquil became increasingly excited for the battle about to begin, the flames on it's back grew intense, to the point that his trainer, Nero, had to take a step back to avoid an accidental burn. Meanwhile, the Zangoose raised it's paws, apparently ready to attack - and it only took a second for it to dash towards Cyndaquil, his claws glowing white. Nero leaped back and at the same time, warned Cyndaquil of the incoming danger; "Cyndaquil, look out!"

There was barely time for the tiny fire-type to dodge, though. The Scratch attack hit true, sending Cyndaquil a good distance away. It stood itself up, shaking his head to regain focus. Nero's expression was a worried one, but Cyndaquil seemed alright. "Right, Smokescreen, now!"
The command was given and Cyndaquil opened it's mouth, releasing a thick black smoke towards the Zangoose. As the normal-type fought with the smoke for his own sight, Nero followed with another attack; "Ember!"

Cyndaquil's back erupted with flames as he spat out three balls of fire towards the Zangoose, harming the wild pokémon, but barely close to bring it down. Zangoose, in the meanwhile, crossed it's arms and pressed his claws against one another, his claws started to glow with a blue energy, increasing his own attack and recovering the accuracy he had just lost.

"Smart," Nero thought, smirking for a brief moment.

"Let's hinder his defense a little, Leer!"

Cyndaquil glared directly towards Zangoose, who instantly glared back. Both Cyndaquil and Zangoose had their defenses lowered; however, Zangoose was far faster and was already charging for another attack, his claws glowing as he began repeatedly slashing towards the Cyndaquil, who surprisingly managed to pull some dexterity and agility to dodge two hits, but was still caught in three slashes. "Holding up pretty well, Cyndaquil!"

"Quil!" The fire-type replied, flames sprouting from it's back. Nero understood the message, "Right, Scratch, now!" The Zangoose had distracted itself in the flurry of attacks, a perfect opportunity for Cyndaquil to leap high into the air, behind it, and slash at his back, sending the taller pokémon toppling forward. Nero readied a pokéball quickly while the Zangoose was down, "Now seems like a good time!" The pokéball was tossed towards the normal-type, absorbing it into a flash of red light. The pokéball felt on the ground with a soft thud, and began moving around...

...

...

The Zangoose came out, destroying the pokéball in the process. It seemed enraged, ready to destroy his foes at any cost! "Zangooose!" The feral pokémon swiftly moved towards Cyndaquil, leaping high into the air. "Zaaaaan!" It practically shouted, descending with both of it's claws towards the tiny fire-type pokémon. There was no way the Cyndaquil could take it and the fire-type took the attack pretty harshly, flying a few meters away.

"Damn, Cyndaquil!" Nero hurried over towards the timid pokémon, but it stood up, shaking slightly. Quick, weak sprouts of flame came out of it's back, before an immense burst of flame erupted much like a volcano from his back. That meant two things: Blaze had been activated and Cyndaquil was running low on health. "Let's not waste this opportunity, then... Ember!" Pressing it's paws against the ground underneath it, the Cyndaquil let forth a powerful flame towards the Zangoose, it's size far bigger than a mere Ember. While the Feral pokémon attempted to avoid it, it still got caught into the flame tornado and was knocked back with marks from the battle covering it's entire body.

"Good job, Cyndaquil. You should take a rest now, good job!" Nero wasn't simply satisfied with Cyndaquil, he was in awe. But, those thoughts ought to be left for later, now, he was ready to obtain his first self-caught pokémon: Zangoose. A pokéball was readied, this time, it wouldn't slip away...

"Zangoose, you are mine!"

The pokéball absorbed the pokémon for the second time, knocking from side to side... once... twice... thrice. The green glow in ther meaning success appeared and both Nero and Cyndaquil cheered in unison. The trainer and his recently gained pokémon seemed to get along pretty well.

"Yeah! Good job, Cyndaquil!"

The blast of water blew the smoke away but Joshua's pokemon were already gone. Joshua just stood there, his arms folded and his expression near emotionless. When the Hydro Pump almost hit him while sweeping for his pokemon, he just barely managed to jump over it. Once he was in the clear again, he issued his next command.
"Murkrow, Wing attack. Froakie, keep them from moving!" He shouted.

"Mur!" The cry came from above. Murkrow was in the air, Froakie on it's back. Apparently the two knew this routine. With no hesitation, Froakie jumped off Murkrow and threw it's frubbles at Piplup, trying to tangle the penguin-pokemon up. Murkrow meanwhile, dived while it's wings glowed and attempted to ram Sigurd's Scraggy with them.

Sigurd's eyes widened when he saw that his opponents pokemon were already no longer in the same position as before. All he could see was Joshua standing there calmly, observing the battle like a master tactician. This wasn't the attitude of a freshman trainer, this was the experience of a veteran trainer. This guy already had his pokemon move away from their same position to avoid an obvious up front attack as if this was a routine. "Dammit..."

Oh shit, the two of them were coming from above! The Froaky was on the back of the Murkrow flying in the air before the frog pokemon leaped off and started to send bubbles straight towards Brunhilda while the Murkrow flew down towards Rusty for a Wing Attack. "Brunhilda use Peck on the bubbles and move forward. Rusty, Sand-Attack!"

"Plup!" The Piplup's beak glowed with white energy and leaped towards the bubbles, popping them with each peck and getting closer towards the Froaky. Rusty on the other hand kicked up sand towards the Murkrow's face, hoping to hinder its sight.

Imressive. He has some skill. Joshua thought to himself as he watched Sigurd give his commands and how quickly the pokemon reacted in response. But it won't be enough.

"Froakie, more frubbles!" He commanded. The Frog-like Pokémon responded by jumping back into the air and throwing frubbles everywhere. Soon, Sigurd's pokemon were surrounded by a minefield of sticky bubble. One wrong step and they would find it to be rather difficult to move.

"So, what will you do now?" He asked Sigurd calmly, his tone betraying nothing." Murkrow, Night Shade on the Piplup. Froakie, Bubble on the Scraggy."

Murkrow was surrounded by a park purple energy which was launched at Piplup while Froakie launched a stream of bubbles. Joshua knew Sigurds only viable dodging option right now was for his Pokémon to jump, otherwise they risked stepping on some frubbles. And that's exactly what he hoped would happen.

Now this was a bit of a situation. The Froakie's frubbles stuck around on the battlefield, making it harder to maneuver around than it should. One step out of place and they would be in a sticky situation, no pun intended.

What was he going to do? His pokemon were going to get hurt badly if he doesn't do anything right now! He wasn't a fool, the only reason why these sticky frubbles would be laid out around them to make him desperate and make him jump to avoid the attacks. If that was the case then Rusty and Brunhilda were both sitting ducks if they were caught midair.

"Rusty, pull your skin up to minimize the damage! Brunhilda, jump and propel yourself with Hydro Pump!" The Scraggy pulled the yellow skin that hung around its waist like loose trousers and used it like a shield against the bubbles, lessening the impact of the damage. The Piplup did jump into the air, but it shot a powerful stream angled towards the ground, the force pushed the little penguin towards the Murkrow.

"Now follow up with Pound!" The Piplup's stubby right wing glowed and as soon as it got near the black bird pokemon, it swung its attack down towards the Murkrow.

"Clever. But not good enough." Joshua said calmly" Murkrow, Toxic."

The Darkness Pokémon opened it's beak and sent a wave of purple liquid at the Piplup. Even Sigurd would know how deadly the move one, as it was an instant poison if it hit. And that would spell the end of Piplup in this battle, if it hit the water-type pokemon.

Joshua hadn't forgotten about Scraggy either.
"Froakie, Water Pulse." He said calmly. Froakie jumped into the air again and gathered a ball of water between it's hands before launching said ball at Scraggy, were it would explode, upon contact with either the Pokémon or the ground.

In that instant the battle was over. Rusty had taken a critical hit from the Water Pulse, laying down on his back with swirls for eyes. Brunhilda was trying her best to stay standing, but she couldn't take the poison coursing through her veins. She couldn't avoid the incoming attack while she was in the air and suffered dearly for it. Not wanting to put his pokemon through anymore harm, he returned them to their pokeballs and sighed softly. "You guys did well. We'll win the next battle for sure."

His red eyes glanced at his opponent and he nodded in respect for his opponent. "Thanks for the battle. If we meet again then I promise you that next time I'll be the winner." Sigurd turned to Amelia and smiled kindly at her. "We'll head to the local pokemon center. I'll heal my pokemon up and buy you food there." Without waiting for a response he began to make his way towards the pokemon center, although a bit slowly as he waited for her to follow.

Joshua and Amelia

Joshua watched as his opponent's Scraggy was knocked out and he returned his Piplup to spare it from the poison. His opponent thanked him for the match before saying he would win next time. Joshua gained a small smile at that.
"Don't be so sure. I might be a mountain you can't climb that easily. But before you go." He said before walking over. He dug through his pockets and brought out a Pecha Berry." Have your Piplup take this. It'll cure the poison, so you're not stuck at the center for too long. And if it's food you're looking for, you can definitely get some there. It aint five stars but it's definitely good.

By the way, I didn't catch either of your names. Mine's Joshua
."

Amelia moved over to Sigurd but stayed behind him. She didn't respond to Joshua and simply remained silent, with Litwick sitting on her shoulder.

"Cyndaquil, how's the name Cinder, to you?"

The tiny-fire type nodded and quickly made agreeing gestures with it's tiny paws. Nero understood that he liked the name and kept it as such, enjoying the sound of it, himself. "Right, Cinder! Now, it's time to rest, eh? You had an amazing battle!"

The usual red flash of light absorbed the tired pokémon and Nero placed the pokéball at the second slot of the poke-belt thing. Approaching Zangoose's pokéball, he picked it up, gave it a long look, before placing at the third slot with a rather wide smile. This Zangoose was pretty tough, he'd certainly help Nero get through the routes safely and not only that, if he could train Zangoose, he could easily take the Gym Challenge of the nearest town. But, that all would be left for later as for now, he had to heal his pokémon at the nearest center; both Zangoose and Cinder needed some treatment. Eevee, at the other hand, was already in his usual comfortable place: Nero's shoulder.

It didn't took for him to arrive, as he wasn't that far from the city to begin with. He also had no idea of where the pokémon center was exactly, but all it took was a bit of searching until he got there. Entering it, it was inevitable that he had just spotted the other trainers who had begun their adventure today. Funny, they didn't even step out of the town and they're already here... I wonder if they had a battle, hm. The boy stepped over towards the balcony, waiting the nurse to tend to his two other pokémon.

"A mountain huh? It makes no difference to me. In the end I'll not only scale you, I'll make sure that you're nothing but rubble beneath my feet." The grin that he had spread across his face was one that belonged on the face of an undying challenger though in a bit of a crude, almost thuggish way. If it was a challenge that this guy was offering then he found the right opponent. Sigurd accepted the pecha berry gratefully and stowed it into his vest pocket. "Huh, awfully generous of you. Thanks."

So his opponent's name was Joshua. Well at least now he had a name to place onto the face of his current objective. "The name is Sigurd Melodia and this little Whismur right here is Amelia. She's a bit shy." He chuckled teasingly and raised his arms up to the sky as he stretched them. "Ah, I really need to get her some food and heal my pokemon. See ya when I see ya." And with that they walked off and soon found the pokemon center. Sigurd had handed his pokemon off to the residential Nurse Joy and had taken Amelia to the food court. Along the way there he noticed that the boy with glasses from the lab was standing on the balcony. Deciding to try and make new friends, he waved at him and motioned him to come sit with them.

Nero caught the boy waving at him and the motion to have him sit with them. Should I? The trainer wondered, shrugging his shoulders with his own thoughts. As his pokémon were returned to him, completely healed, the boy returned the pokéballs to their respective slots. Only then Nero began walking towards Sigurd's table. Moving his hand up, Nero fixed his glasses in place with his index finger before sitting down, nodding towards Sigurd. "So..."

Both of his hands were placed upon the table as he cleared his throat, nearly as if he had to remember how to appropriately... socialize. "So.. You're a new trainer as well, hmm? I'm Nero," He extended his hand out for a handshake, even giving a slight smile. The Eevee in his shoulder greeted everyone with an excited 'Vee!', but other than that, it barely moved from the boy's shoulder.

@Nero

This guy doesn't get out much does he? Sigurd thought to himself in response to Nero's rather awkward social behavior. He accepted the awkward boy's handshake and returned a smile though with much more confident and energetic than the one he received. "Yup, today is the first day of officially being a trainer. Sigurd is the name, nice to meet ya." His eyes trailed off to the small brown fur ball on Nero's shoulder, an Eevee. "I'd show you my pokemon, but they're getting treated right now. Lost my first battle by a landslide against a more experienced trainer though it certainly was a learning experience." It's hard to believe that he wasn't feeling any bit depressed about losing his first battle. In the end experience was the deciding factor of the battle.

"Oh, and this is Amelia. She's a bit shy so duo please be careful." He motioned towards the little girl sitting across from him.

Amelia followed Sigurd after waving good-bye to Joshua. When they were finally got some food, she only asked for simple, inexpensive things, because she didn't want Sigurd to pay to much. She had stared longingly at the deserts but passed them up for the very same reason she had passed on the more expensive stuff, though this seemed to make her a bit more upset.

She was silently enjoying her meal when Nero came over and he began talking with Sigurd, who introduced her. Litwik was on her head at this point and glanced over at the new trainer, curious about the new arrival.

Nero's smile seemed to widen slightly when Sigurd informed him that he had lost a battle. Not because he was happy for the boy's loss, no, he was actually happy because he had literally guessed the scenario moments ago, simply based on the fact that the trainers were already in the pokémon center without leaving the town. "I see, well, I hope they're alright," The boy replied, making himself comfortable into the chair. He cast a glance towards the girl and her Litwick, addressing her with a nod of his head. Chandelure is an extremely tough Pokémon the thought randomly ran in his head.

"I came back here to get my pokémon treated after some rough encounter with a wild pokémon, but it seems neither of them need serious care. The Nurse said to just let them rest and not use them to battle for a while." The boy explained, for no reason at all - merely to try and buy some conversation between the group. "

Almost completely on queue, the nurse joy approached the table and handed Sigurd his pokeman back with that same gleeful expression on her face. He nodded in thanks and looked down at the two balls containing his pokemon. Even with that smile on his face he wasn't truly being honest how losing his first battle felt. While it was exciting to battle and he learned from this, he still hated the taste of defeat. Every trainer hopes to start their journey on a good note, not on getting their ass handed to him. With a flick of his wrists, the two pokeballs were flung high into the air and released a flash of light that brought out his Scraggy and Piplup. "Y'all feeling better?" The two pokemon nodded rather lack lusterless from disappointment of losing their battle.

"Sounds like you had a fun start. Caught any pokemon on route one?" Sigurd ask with genuine curiosity.

Nero observed as the Nurse came and delivered Sigurd's pokémon, who didn't hesitate in releasing them. A Scraggy and a Piplup. Empoleon, hmm, the boy thought, raising a hand to fix his glasses in place - it kept falling forward slightly, for some reason. Whenever he looked at a pokémon, he instantly thought about their fully evolved form, even though some trainers never evolved their pokémon, either by choice or inability. This was not Nero's case, certainly; he'd evolve all his pokémon and bring them to their maximum.

"Oh, yes, I did." Nero replied to the question, standing himself up, already planning to leave again, "I caught a Zangoose, that's all for now. I will explore route 1 some more and see what else I can find there, heh, if you'll excuse me..."

Sigurd chuckled as Nero began to leave. "Don't be surprise if we're right behind you later. We'll probably cross paths later, so see ya when I see ya." It was a small world after all; they would probably bump into each other every now and again if their journey should ever intersect again. Judging how Nero acted during their brief interaction it could be assumed that all of their interactions would be short and awkward due to that boy's lack of social skills. For a moment he got up and he walked away from the table only to return a few moments with a small cup of parfait in his hand and placed it on the table by Amelia. "I saw you eying the desserts so I thought I'd treat you to something good. It's not everyday we can have a first day as trainers so I see it as a special occasion to celebrate." Sigurd leaned back in his seat and tilted his hat so that it shielded his eyes, only leaving that smirk on his face.

Amelia watched Nero leave. The boy made her nervous and she didn't like the vibe he gave her. Her thoughts didn't remain on Nero for long though, as Sigurd placed a parfait in front of her. The result of the desert was almost instant. Her eyes lit up with excitement for the first time and a small smile appeared on her face.
"Thank you." She said, before taking a bite. She let out a small squeal of delight at the taste of the treat as her smile grew even bigger. Litwick let out a happy cry as well, happy to see Amelia happy.

"Someone has a sweet tooth it would seem. That Whismur might become a Loudred yet." A familiar voice said.
