The Five Realms of Life
~ A Magical RP
{Genre: Modern, Fantasy, Slice of Life, Magic, Mature}
Welcome, the concept of this RP is primarily based around a magic system that I've designed with influences from many areas of fiction and my own creativity, a primary influence is from the later issues of the Berserk manga series. However, I've expanded and changed enough that no knowledge of the series is required for this RP. You might be scratching your head at the idea of listing this as a 'Slice of Life Fantasy', and I'd agree with you, but that is merely to emphasise the styles of RP that fall into the scope of this, quite large, idea.
I'm looking for someone who is wishing to engage in an advanced or high-casual, modern RP with supernatural and magical themes. The primary feature of this RP will be a very structured and in-depth OC magic system that has an emphasis on exploration, creativity and adventure with a lot of risk involved. Players will be placed into an ordinary, mundane and modern setting where they are quite suddenly introduced to an ability that lay dormant in all humans. To put it simply, this ability allows the user to manipulate their 'spirit', a rather featureless ethereal form of themselves that does not obey the laws of physical reality. Through this manipulation of their 'spirit' form, the players are introduced to realities beyond their own physical worlds and learn to manipulate aspects and essences, as well as other native 'spirits' of these realities and bring/force them to the physical world.
However, there is great danger in treading this path as, just like your physical form can be harmed and destroyed, so can your ethereal form, though injury and damage are quite different in these other realities. Not only this, as your will and influence become more tangible forces in these other realms, so does their will and influence become more tangible to you, even affecting your physical body.
Themes
It is important to note that I do not intend this RP to be solely romance or action oriented, but mature themes may be present and will be heavily implied in both these regards, including sexual violence, gore and brutality. However, the primary focus of the RP is to merely enjoy and use this magic system, so a story and more fleshed out scope is something I intend to design with anyone who is interested. Should anything related to erotica or smut be present, they'll only be strongly implied, preferably with an emotional tone before a fade to black type scenario. Though, this type of content can be avoided entirely, though I would require a compromise/discussion in this regard.
~ Story ~
I have a rather basic story out-line that I've already touched on above but to expand on it, I'd like to propose a clique trope in regards to orientation, that is high-school students, from ages 15 to 18. I plan to use arcs in this RP that we can plan out together, though I've already got quite a few in mind. However, starting at a young age gives a lot of room to grow into as well as can allow 'age gaps' between arcs if we wish.
Some story arcs I have in mind focus on exploring different realms, learning 'spells' as well as arcs that introduce the idea of gaining a 'familiar/pet' and bringing them into the physical world. Other arcs I have in mind are focused around specific locations and troubles they may be causing in regards to their influence on the characters as well as entities trying to control/manipulate the characters. There are more ideas I have, but these are just some vary vague ideas for you to think about.
