Kyle put the book down and headed into his master's war room. It was all about Count Vlad Dracul and how he sold his soul in exchange for immortality and the power to defeat his enemies. Unfortunate for him, the demon he made a deal with found a loophole, namely that he didn't have to die to have his soul removed, it was just preferable because it was excruciating to remove and effortless for the demon to take it upon death. He now walks the Earth as a Master Vampire, a living Demon, not undead as his converted vampires, unharmed by sunlight or lesser religious symbols, including crosses. This, of course, didn't apply to pieces of the true cross, as, soaked in the blood of God, they had the power to purge the demonic magic from his body.

None of that had anything to do with his master's request to join him, though, so he tried to push it out of his mind. He walked into his master's war room and bowed, though he realized that his master was the only other person in the room. "Master Win," he said, walking to the opposite side of the table as his master, "You called for me?"

"Yes," he said, pointing to a satellite image on the table-screen between them, "This was taken about ten minutes ago." He zoomed in and the image revealed a small ship outside of the Great Pyramids. "The rest of the Clan has been dispatched to Beijing to protect it against the Aliens. I wouldn't normally send out an apprentice on such a dangerous mission, but we have no one else to go."

"What about Master Su? I'm sure he could spare someone."

"The Kitsune were asked by the government of Japan to defend Tokyo. Every other clan I knew to contact are defending other cities. An incursion of this scale hasn't occurred before, to my knowledge. Everyone is overextended, but we have no choice. I am therefore sending you to Egypt. You are the only person I can spare at this time to find out what they are doing there."

"But anything that was there would have been found thousands of years ago."

"True," he responded, "which makes it even more puzzling. You will take the teleporter to the pyramids, to assure you get there in time. Now go, and good luck on your mission."

"Yes, master, and thank you." This was his first real mission, as the others had been for training. He only hoped that he didn't fail his Masters.

He grabbed all of his survival gear and headed to the teleporter room. The device was several millenia old, salvaged from an incursion site in Northern China. It was risky to use it, as it could fail at any time, but he had no choice but to use it, as Egypt was too far away to reach in time. He took his ninja knife out of his belt and laid the hand holding the blade on the teleporter. He "asked" it to send him to the pyramids, but it seemed stubborn. He knew it was having trouble complying, and focused harder on his destination. A few seconds later there was a sudden lurch in the world and he realized that the air around him was hot and dry. He opened his eyes and looked down to see that he was near the top of one of them, kneeling on top of a giant stone. Well, at least it got me here in one piece. he thought as he put his knife back into his belt and grabbed his backpack of supplies, hoping to get to the bottom before nightfall.
