The Age of Strife that has lasted for over five thousand years is finally coming to an end and the Emperor of Mankind has finally united Terra and has started on the Great Crusade to reestablish contact with the colonies that had been lost during the war with the 'Iron Men' at the end of the Dark Age of Technology and the warp storms that made space travel impossible during the Age of Strife and unite them under the Imperial Truth.

Before the Crusade had the chance to get properly underway however, a stumbling block was run into. The future leaders of the Emperor's Space Marines that he had genetically engineered from his own DNA and altered to make them neigh on Demi Gods in which to base his loyal Space Marine Legions off of were lost, scattered throughout the galaxy as infants. The Crusade must go on through; Hopefully with time, the lost Primarchs will be discovered and their place at the forefront of humanity restored.

Based somewhat largely off an experiment that 4chan once did, The Grand Crusade starts of in a similar fashion to the Great Crusade (Even having the same goal in mind)... which just one major difference; The Primarchs (And thus the Legiones Astartes that would be based off of them/ be lead by them) are not the same. No Horus, No Russ... No Papa Smurf. Instead, the players will be invited to create their own Primarch and thus their own legions.

The plan at the moment is to have twenty legions (Players) taking part in the Grand Crusade to unite humanity under the Imperial Truth while defending mankind from the various horrors that stalk the galaxy. Exactly how this plays out will largely be up to them; What methods, tactics, philosophy or weapons you choose to employ during your mission to bring planets under the control and protection of the Emperor is your decision and will influence how your legion interacts with the rest.

I am also going to be making the call that Primarchs can be whatever gender the player wishes, but the trade off for this is that the space marine parts of your legion are going to have to be the same gender as their primarch. Space Marines are still the engineered super solders that we all know and love and the legions are based off of the geneseed of their respective primarchs; There is a great deal of genetic engineering involved in the process and not everyone survives even under the best of circumstances. Trying to use a male space marine template on a woman or trying to use a female space marine template on a man would result in complications, mutations or even outright rejections; all of which would doom the recipient to a painful death and waste everyones time and resources.

Reserved for my app. I'll probably be making a tech-focused legion, sort of like the Adeptus Mechanicus, but except Space Marines.

Name- Snaga Arturius

Gender-Male

Homeworld -Drenai. A fierce jungle world with dense foliage and many large predators preying on all those who try to make a life there. The most terrifying of which is the Rigante. The Rigante is a large tiger like creature with blade like spines running down it's back, it has natural armour covering much of it's body and blends in seamlessly with the environment with it's dark green and black covering. The planet remains primitive with those local to the planet still relying on the most basic of weapons and tools. Even medical technology is still primitive, many die from infections received while hunting or trying to tame some of the planets monstrous creatures. On a planet like this only the strong live to see adulthood.

Appearance- Snaga is a huge man in every sense of the word. His body is rippling with tight musculature however on him it does not seem cumbersome as his speed is fearsome. He has shoulder length red hair and a beard braided in three seperate braids binded with rings of bronze. His eyes are piercing and predatory often making those who look into his eyes for an extended time feel like the lowest of prey. He dresses in the thick leathers of the prey he has hunted in the vast jungles of his planet. When he is feasting or in meetings of leadership he is often seen wearing a cloak formed from a skinned Rigante a badge of honour only worn by the few in the history of the planet who have managed to fell a Rigante is single combat. The victory did not come without a price, the large knotted scars on his chest show the battle was hard won. He is always accompanied by his large greataxe, even in times of peace amongst his own people it is always seen strapped across his back.

Personality- Snaga seems to seethe with predatory instinct and it shows in his personality. He is often seen as harsh and brutal and never dances around subjects preferring to get to the heart of matters as fast as possible. He often makes those unfamiliar with his mannerisms uncomfortable due to his intensity and the fact he seems to emanate danger. To those of his clan, those he considers family he is seen in a very different light. They see him feasting and drinking the harsh liquors brewed on his home planet, they see him telling tall stories of his hunts and battles, jesting with those who have fought alongside him.

Legion name- Drenaide Brothers

Favoured tactics- The Drenaide Brothers like to strike from concealed positions closing quickly into personal conflict. This is shown to it's greatest extent on planets similar to their home world with dense cover and concealment. Where they often strike from the shadows inflict great casualties and then fade away before they can be properly engaged. On planets and situations where this is not possible they utilize heavy weapons fire from the flanks to try and suppress the enemy, leaving those in the center free to close into close combat often utilizing jump packs or fast moving vehicles.

Favoured battlefield roll- The Drenaide Brothers favour close personal combat given the choice. Once battle it properly joined they are often seen with bolters discarded or holstered battering their way through enemy lines.

Legion Characteristics/Ideology- The legions characteristics obviously follow after those of their primarch. All members of the chapter emanate violence and danger. Over time they develop other traits their skin hardens and thickens forming natural armour that only strengthens as they age. Their canines begin to grow until they are easily twice their normal size and they develop sharper natural senses. For this reason those that embrace their nature to the fullest are often seen discarding their helmets in combat or eschew them entirely. They also develop a taste for very rare or raw meat this often only begins to manifest itself after their more animalistic changes take place.

The Legion has a strong sense of honour and glory gained through combat. This doesn't often manifest in duels on the battlefield or the like, instead it is more as a collective as they defeat enemies larger or more numerous then themselves. Killing them in the most brutal and efficient way possible. They also have a very strong sense of clan/family. The younger of the legion looking onto those who have served longer than them as their older brothers and the primarch as their father. It is often said the biggest mistake you can make is impinging the honour or insulting one of the Drenaide Brothers, because insulting one is insulting all.

The legions armour is a dark green base with black irregular diagonal tiger stripes crossing across it. The armour is often adorned by objects salvaged from vanquished enemies. These can be anything from furs to teeth to weapon fragments.

Hated Enemy: Forces of Chaos.

I don't think this is what he meant there. We don't even know that chaos exists yet, if we're going by 40k timeline.

He is right. At this point in time Chaos is largely unknown. I should have put an Optional next to hatred enemy.

EDIT: Otherwise, the chapter is approved. Feel free to put them into the Character thread.

Something that I should have mentioned earlier: Your Primarchs haven't been found yet. This is so that we can start the Rp without having all 20 primarchs.

Hey, I assume that this is still open? If so I do have one question, and please ignore the question if it spoils the plot or something... but... is there a possibility a primarch, much like Horus and so many others, can eventually fall to chaos?

@agentmanatee

Of course. Even if Chaos is currently an unknown force in the galaxy doesn't mean it isn't active. I am not going to force a Heresy through. Granted, if someone decided to fall to Chaos and somehow managed to convince several of the other Primarchs to do the same in a Heresy like manner I won't stop it because its good Rp, but while I may tempt a player every now and then its up to the player to decide if they wish to take that step.

Name:Ludwig Wexler
Gender:Male

Homeworld:Ludwig drifted longer within the swirling chaos than any other Primarch when he was scattered alongside them by the chaos gods. His body came to rest on Veridia Secundus, a sister planet to a large mineral rich world. Veridia Secundus was the cardinal world, the seat of government for the sister worlds, and Primus was the planet from which the material wealth was mined.
Ludwig was adopted and named by one of the rich, Aristocratic families, the Wexler family to be precise. He was raised among decadence, taught the finer points of art, science and mathematics, but his interests lied elsewhere. In military history and strategy he found a special ability in, able to trounce any of the local planetary defence generals with ease. But, it would almost be all for Naught, until the rebellion of Veridia Primus. Sick of the Aristocrats living in decadence while the miners on Primus suffered, fighting for the most base of needs. Through sheer numbers the miners overwhelmed the forces stationed on Primus, and armed themselves. However, secundus would prove far harder to overcome, and the first attack was easily sent crawling back to Primus, broken and bloodied. Ludwig suggested they send forces to finish off the rebellion, but the aristocrats considered the rebellion to no longer be a threat, and so Ludwig was ignored. Then the rebels, less than a year later, attacked again. However, this time alongside the regular soldiers, terrible mutated monsters fought with the rebels.
With this new development the local defence forces were swept aside, outnumbered and unprepared for the onslaught. As the mutants and rebels razed the city, Ludwig strode out from the Wexler family estates, the family's personal guard behind him. Rallying the defence forces to him, Ludwig led the massively outnumbered makeshift army in a vicious counter attack. With Ludwig's superior tactical acumen and deadly accuracy, the coalition of defence forces pushed the mutants and their masters back, and eventually routing them entirely, driving them off of Veridia Secundus. However, this time Ludwig did not waste the opportunity to finish the job, and led his forces to Primus. After a 3 year war, all mutants and rebels had been purged from their footholds on Primus, driving them deep into the old mines. Ludwig ordered the mines to be sealed, ending the mutant threat. Lauded as a hero, Ludwig was made governor, and under his leadership Primus and Secundus have since Prospered.

Appearence:Ludwig has a strange complexion, but it is what had the Wexler family interested enough to take him in. His skin is a glittering gold color, and his long black hair forms a kind of halo framing his golden face. His size is incredible for a human, but only average for a primarch

Personality: A polite, and well groomed man, he is the perfect picture of refined grace. Intensely proud of his own pedigree, some consider the great man to be quite pompous and acuse him of looking down on others. Despite this, Ludwig is a deft leader, able to command effectively and efficiently.

Will get legion up soon

Legion name:Incandescent Brotherhood

Favored tactics:Heavy artillery/Fortifications and anti siege tactics

Favored battlefield role:When on an offensive deployment, the Incandescent Brotherhood preferrs to stay at long range, using their extraordinary accuracy with heavy weapons to provide heavy long range support.
When defending, they quickly build comprehensive mazes of trench works and other defences, if there is no time they fortify pre-existing fortifications. After this they often eschew heavier weapons due to the claustrophobic nature of urban and anti siege warfare, defaulting to their bolters and changing tactics to a frantic, ultra close to medium range combat style

Legion characteristics/Ideology
The Incandescent Brotherhood is a proud legion, but much like it's primarch are often considered pompous or rude to those they deem lesser than themselves. Though they see melee when on the offensive as the lesser form of combat to range, it is as if the legion has two drastically different mind sets when attacking or defending. When on the offensive they do not close range with a foe unless absolutely necessary, preferring to not be caught in the filthy mire of close combat. However, once they are on the defensive, they become savagely desperate to hold their defenses, and are suddenly constantly embroiled in melee, and revel in it. This strange change in tactics and mindset are jarring to others, but the Brotherhood seems not to notice it.
Aside from war, many brothers follow more artful pursuits, much like their golden Primarch. They do not like to believe themselves to be savages, and these pursuits are what makes them "civilized" in their own words.

I think the Defenestrators already have the "Siege marines" thing as their own. Or maybe they're defensive, and I'm misreading it.
