I have an idea for something towards the end if the New Republic era (20 ABY). The roleplay would be based with a Rebel controlled planet (Largely not populated, more of like a refuge than a city planet), the Empire had defeated all Rebel ships in space and even took out their comms. Empire was damaged badly, and had to crash land. So the Empire have somewhat of a controlled territory while the Rebels have a base and safe territory. Empire has mostly the more powerful vehicles at their disposal but due to the crash landing of their Star Destroyer, most of them are damaged or inoperable. Rebels have the most vehicles, but can easily pop. A thick Jungle planet, mostly wet. The objective is for either side to get their own comms back up (Empire actually start with no power). Difference is the Empire have all the parts for a communication relay, they just have no power. So if the Empire repair their power stations before the Rebels can steal their comm relay parts, they can call for reinforcements. Rebels have to steal the comm relay.

The benefit of this for the Rebels is that the Star Destroyers automated systems are down, no camera's, remote controlled probes, or turrets. Problem is you've got a bunch of blind stormtroopers staring you down a hallway. Numbers of each side are pretty equal at this point.

I do not plan to run and control this myself, I am looking for at least two other Star Wars enthusiasts to assist with this. For each side there will be 1 General (or Commander), Company leader, and a platoon leader. So 6 players in general. After these positions have been filled I can offer up to 2 addition spots, one for each side, for leaders of special squads, special fireteams like special ops. --Above your basic infantry but not Officers, like commando's.

This is just a general idea and I thought it might be fun, I've been having a hype for some Star Wars play for awhile.

I am interested. I actually have a good idea for a Republic Intelligence character if you don't mind one of them going that way. Or IIB. I can take it either way.

Sorry Cale. I've been working nights and didn't check here when I got off this morning. I should have a full explaination up tomorrow afternoon. But in short form either the character can be an NRI agent on loan at the time to teach counter insergancy tatics or an IIB commander leading a team to hi-jack the power stations or however we do it.

Well first off can you explain the abbreviations to me, haha sorry man I just can't figure out what you're shortening. Also alright, I'll be around to hear your idea. I'm also going to note I'll be the highest ranking officer for the Empire's side.

I'm thinking about scratching the general objective, as it makes it feel like a game more than a roleplay. But while it may not be the roleplays objective it can still be an objective of the Rebels to acquire the necessary comm parts.

Here are the ranks players will initially have...
Empire
Captain if the Line (Navy) [Taken]
Lieutenant Colonel (Commands 1,000 soldiers)
Lieutenant (Commands 35 soldiers)

Rebellion
Colonel
Major (Commands 700 soldiers)
Lieutenant (Commands 35 troops)

The Rebellion has fewer numbers for two reasons. Firstly, it is not a militarized planet, but of course they keep a contingent on the planet. Secondly, the main military base is unfinished, being new. All systems and functionality are, however. It's just interiors like more barracks and such. X-Wings are expensive as hell, how much do you think bases cost?

Also, neither side will send all of their forces. A faction must keep their base secure, correct? Which means using all forces must be a last resort. And that means that the end is near.

As a note; no, the Stormtroopers will not have horrible aim in this roleplay.

The plan is to be that, while the Captain/Lieutenant Colonel does command so many troops, they use the Player Platoon (Lieutenant ranks) to actually do anything concerning the enemy. Scouting, attacking, salvaging, etc.

The Colonel on the Rebellion is able to command everyone and holds Martial law, this includes civilians. Ready civilians to take up arms are 1,000 (Usually only become active if the Rebellion homestead place is attacked. And that means leaving women and children unprotected if they are readied for war.) The Colonel controls a total (including players and their teams) of 2,500.

The Captain of the Empire is able to command all personnel, and can even ready his pilots for ground assaults if so needed. Ready crewmen for ground assaults are 4,000 (Do not have average aim as Stormtroopers, however generally better than Rebel civilians. Do not wield anything more than a pistol, rarely have a grenade launcher, as much armor as a Rebel Trooper, not soldier. Also, no crewmen means no repairs, no complete control of the ship, etc.). The Captain controls a total (including players and their teams) of 5,700.

The Imperials do have a massive ship, but it was the last surviving ship and crash landed. There were casualties already before they crash landed.

The massive number for the Empire does not mean victory. As with such a large ship, and there being no power, there must be regular patrols within the ship, and all crewman are at work attempting to fix everything. They can not expend more than they can. Besides, if they do, the Rebellion could have already laid traps, and can circle around the massive army, take control of the ship, and also call for reinforcements... making the Empire cannon fodder. However, it's essentially the same on the Rebels side.

Vehicles

Unfortunately, for the Empire, (thankfully, for the Rebels) with the power down, only so many doors can be manually opened. So their vehicle regiment is extremely reduced. Not to mention the damage suffered before and after the crash landing has dwindled their vehicle force.

With that said, I will determine a suitable vehicle outfit for the Empire and the Colonel can also figure out their own. Once we both agree that our outfits are not overpowered and balanced, the vehicle outfits will be made final.

Okay sorry Cale. I'm basically a SW wiki. Sometimes I forget others may not know the things I do. So Definitions...

NRI - New Republic Intelligence
IIB - Imperial Intelligence Bureau

There is also the ISB(Imperial Security Bureau) which is more like the Secret Police of the empire. I would make more since for my characters to be ISB if I go empire as it is typical for ISB of have agents secretly inserted within the command and line structures of the Imperial Military. So I can do that and work off of conflict between our characters once yours finds out that ISB placed an agent on your ship,

Or I can make my character into that NRI agent and be lead on the plan to get into the imperial ship. It all depends on what other interest we get in this RP.

Ah, well that all sounds cool. However I'm not looking for internal conflict on either side of the factions, as there will already be catastrophic problems towards each side, as in debris, casualties, destruction, etc.

If you want to be something unique, you would have to wait until we filled the other positions. If there are "special" colonels that you know of, like positions of extremely high rank that assume control over infantry and are also in another branch of the Empire, we can look into that.

Also, would you be interested in a Co-GM position? If so... answer these two questions for me. It's not a quiz so it isn't like there's a wrong answer. Do you know how many Imperial Soldiers (in total) saw action in the battle of Hoth? Rebel Soldiers?

And do you know of a relatively uninhabited (or very lightly inhabited) jungle, wet planet that did not see entirely too much of the Galactic Civil War, and that would have Imperial interests?

Well that would be the ISB then Cale. They are not part of the military and answerable only to moffs and high command. Because of that and the authority given to them they can assume command of a military role like the lt. Col. You mentioned.

And yeah I can help s co-gm. And I know of 2 planets that match your criteria. There is Roon. It is an old sith fortress world. It would be chalk full of relics of interest to the empire. There is also Kesh. It was home to the lost tribe of sith. That could be the resource the empire desires.

Now, the captain of this Impwrial fleet needs to be the one in the commanding position. The way you make it sound is like he would still over rule the Captain even in a lower equivalent rank.

Also with the planet, which would the Rebels choose to make a somewhat settlement more likely?

Still calculating numbers for that other question?

Yeah she could technically. But I know how to set limits for my character. If you wanted to be in over all command then I would limit the authority my character would have.

For the second question I would go with Roon. It is notoriously difficult to get to with only one established to get to with many smuggler routes. And with its history of underworld usage it wouldn't be far off for the rebels to establish a base there.

The question I was referring to was the exact amount of soldiers that saw action in Hoth on each side.

I checked out Roon, and it's a good choice. Thanks for the help on that Hacker.

In-roleplay I look forward to you being my second in command, haha. No seriously though, the position sounds interesting and I think my character my try to look into it if he finds out. Next on the list is a good title, and hopefully we can get at least one other person interested, that's when I'll start the OOC and try to get people.

Essentially I was originally thinking the story would go as such; The Empire had planned to visit Roon and search it for its hidden treasures, if any. But in hearing the Rebels taking up shack there, they immediately sent a fleet there. They didn't expect a large fleet of rebel ships above the planet and getting to Roon was already trouble enough. The rebel fleet actually caught the Imperial fleet by surprise. Still, while the Imperial fleet still had more firepower, the Rebels had the advantage of the surprise hits and the Imperial Fleet wasn't prepared. With the Rebel fleet destroyed, the only ship on the Imperial side crash lands onto the planet, the flagship of the fleet. An Imperial II-class frigate.

For the Empire, they still have a mission, and it seems as though they are still a match for the Rebels even in disrepair and heavy losses. Although they aren't getting off the planet any time soon and can't provide an intense invasion force as they originally could. The choice between immediately launching a full assault or trying to get the Frigate back online is a contest. As they can get their troops out, what they have left, but risk the entirety of the Frigate being defenseless and they wouldn't know the Rebels were among them until they reached the Bridge.

For the Rebels, their defense fleet and way of communications gone, they could either try to kill off the Imperial forces, salvaging what they can, or try another way of establishing contact with the rest of the Rebellion.
