Right. :) Until I randomly look at the clock and discover it's seven in the morning, and I need to be getting up. Again Actually if I do that I'll probably get myself banned from the computer, not a good look.

Let me see, you said it was 4 in the morning where you live, which means you've gotta be in one of the +something timezones....
Russia, maybe?
Probably completely wrong.

Eh, they're pretty similar products. both are a funky looking paste made from yeast extract, and they both end in 'mite'

Ew no, Marmite tastes good, vegimite tastes like crap. …………And there was the marmite drought, Vegimite never got one of those, although I'm not sure that's something to celebrate.

Actually Vegimite might be the Aussie version. I'm not sure.

But when did I mention Marmite? I don't remember that.

…………………………although I guess it doesn't matter whether you call it Marmite, Vegimite, or the even greater imposter of that foul Vegi-spread, I still can't eat it. *Sobs*

I may be confusing you with someone else, come to think of it.
I understand vegemite is quite a bit saltier, but the basic concept is the same.
Apparently there was some sort of national crisis when the Marmite fatory had to shut down?
Wait... why can't you eat it?

Yep national crisis alright. The factory is in Christchirch which got hit repetitively by massive earthquakes in 2011. I live a little north of wellington and we felt the earthquakes. Anyway lots of people dislodged from homes, terror all round, and no marmite factory.

"Some supermarkets reported at the time they had already run out of stock, and there was only a few weeks of stock left in their distribution centres, leading to the dubbing of Marmite as "black gold" and the crisis as "Marmageddon"" according to Wikipidia

Apparently people also sold jars of this size for lots of cash. (……Or it might have been the bigger size, about two of the ones pictured.)

And I can't eat it due to a gluten intolerance that doesn't react well with wheat. Actually that's an understatement, I get rather sick from wheat based stuff.

I didn't think Marmite had wheat in it. everything I can find says it's made with leftover brewers yeast.

Yep, just checked the jar: contains derivatives of barley and wheat ……and to top it off it's got sugar. So yeah, just add three things I can't touch. I think I cried when I first found out that Marmite was one of the things I'd have to give up. Alongside Pies and cakes, biscuits and bread. Bread's the worst, white bread especially.

White bread is pretty much pure gluten, so that's to be expected.
You know, 'derivatives of wheat' doesn't necessarily mean wheat gluten.
After getting curious and oding some research, apparently there's never been a recorded instance of a gluten reaction caused by eating Marmite. have you actually tried eating it since you found out about the gluten allergy?

Pretty much any wheat full stop sets me off. Although you might be right as it isn't that bad as I still occasionally have some, but since I can't have bread I have it straight from the jar, which my hypocritical brother reckons is gross, even though he spreads his about as thick as if it were nutella.

Edit: yes, I have apparently. :)
but see if I have some of that, and some of this that has just a tiny percent, and a tiny of that other, it all adds up to a bloated stomach and a really bad temper.

Ew no, have you tried some of those? There is also the added problem of being paleo, no sugar, no grain, no soy, no commercial food.
Also it is utterly scary what contains gluten or soy.
Oh an I can't have milk either. I think I'm just glad I'm not vegetarian or Vegan, I could never live with out meat.

Actually thinking about it, there is one set of gluten free crackers I can and will eat, …if I can get my hands on them before my brother that is. :)

A true paleo diet would exclude everything not cooked over a campfire.
just saying.
