Liandrich

@Silen Syanka
The name she gave was strange to him. That and that he, for some reason beyond his knowledge, need him alive. Did Arios know who Liandrich was? And If so, did he tell Thalassa? That might explain why she'd be so careful around him. Then again, he was careful around her. Even before she told him about her status. Never the less he had to get towards the surface again. Though not here. If he'd surface in the middle of the sea, it could take ages until a ship noticed him. He'd drown before anyone ever found him.

"And you just listened? Without question?" Liandrich asked. Was she really that easily to manipulate? Of course she was. The tiny frail thing probably listened to anyone who could talk louder than her. He looked away from her and watched the boring stone wall. He was a little mad at her. If she'd just helped him get to the surface his men on the ship would have picked him up. but no, she had to listen to whoever Arios was and drag him to some underwater cave. Never the less, in his anger he was still thinking of a way out of the bloody cave.

Thalassa

@legion02
His frustration hit her like angry waves of the sea. She could see it radiating from him in strong pulses, not literally of course. But she could easily feel it. "I-I haven't ever not listened to Arios..." She said quietly as she glanced over at the sleeping seal. This man was rather scary, with his blunt words, and sharp gaze. Not to mention his fuming emotions. Yet there was something oddly captivating about him. Something that kept her from leaving with Splatter. Something that made her eager to continue their conversation. Her coral pink lips rubbed together as she sat on the cold stone. Showing that her mind was swirling.

David understood the situation was a special kind of desperate. Locked up by a mermaid princess who was everything except fit for her role. And with an injured seal. Was this his fate? To remain forever in a cavern? No, he knew that there was something more about him. He was the Fighter Prince. He wouldn't just surrender to something trivial as fate. But getting angry wouldn't solve anything either. He felt a little defeated. Being left in the hands of someone who's as incapable of Thalassa. But for some odd reason, he did not dare to lay eyes on her again. He grabbed his sword and unsheated it partly. So the tip is still within the hardened leather. but he could see the sharp edges of the blade. And the runes of the monk. The very runes summoning up a memory. A song.

Where are we going
from here?
Where do we go?
Are we all blinded
by fear?
How do we know?

He did not remember how he knew the song. Or who sang it in his memory. Instead he mumbled: "Where are we going...from here?" as if he wanted to sing the song. But couldn't. "Where do we go?"

Thalassa

@legion02
The words he mumbled echoed through Thalassa's ears. Striking her with each sound, each letter. Her pink eyes glanced over at the man. She wished she could know exactly what he felt, what he was thinking. Maybe than she could help him. She could know how to act, how to respond. She only knew really one thing she could do at the moment. And that was to get to know him. At least enough that she could feel more so responsible of getting him home. "Whats Your name?" she asked him softly, glancing up at him. She took in his features for another moment. His thick hair, his sharp eyes. The cheek bones that seemed perfectly smooth. Truly he was handsome in human terms. He was in mermaid standards.

Thalassa felt as though her mother would be proud of her decision to help this human. Which sparkled a beaming feeling. As if she was glowing. Her mother was her role-model. The mermaid she wished she could be. Never before had the merpeople had such a loving and generous queen like her mother had been. When the queen had been torn away from them, they had even built a statue of their beloved, but gone, queen. Thalassa was beyond grateful of the statue that had made. It helped with grief to be able to see her mother. At least in a chiseled rock form, it eased the pain of never being able to see her again.

Liandrich

Lie. Lie! Lie! Lie! The voice in Liandrich's head kept saying. The same voice that screamed: Fight! Fight! Fight! and deep in the night cried: Survive! Survive! Survive! Live!. A voice he thought of as both as a serpent and a guardian angel. A voice that was only interested in one thing: survival. Often through the worst of terms. It was the voice that guided him as a warrior. Not a mindless barbarian but a thoughtful knight. Striking and deflecting when needed. It was the voice that dictated, in a cold manner, how to best obliterate his opponent. The voice also kept him company when he was alone. When at night there was no-one and he felt like he was the last human being on the earth. He loathed those lonesome nights.

Never the less he was offered a choice: speak the truth or lie. Both could have unforeseen and unknowable consequences. Eventually he decided, after a few seconds of silence. He didn't trust her yet. For him, trust had to be built. But he was willing to lay down the first brick. "Liandrich." he said short.

Thalassa

@legion02
Such a strange name, Thalassa thought to herself. Letting the name settle and replay in the depths of her mind several times before she dare open her mouth to speak. "Are you named after a relative?" she asked glancing away from his piecing eyes, to the soft magenta of her tail. Thalassa had been named after her fathers mother. Who was the queen before her own mother and father had ruled. The story of the previous queen was quite thrilling. Since the original Thalassa had been a child she had wished to be a fighter instead of simply a delicate princess. And her father had embraced this about this daughter, allowing her to learn her away behind any weapon, and at the age of 12 she had her own division of royal guards that she was allowed to command to protect the city from criminals within it. When she had been old enough to marry, Thalassa the First married a elite Knight of the royal guard. Whom she had actually trained herself, despite her being older than himself. The queen still indulged in activities she found exciting and enjoyable, while raising her only son. Most referred to her as the Knight Queen. She was not afraid to fight or risk her life for the welfare of even the poorest of her peasants. Everyone had value in her eyes. Thalassa liked to think, that because of her grandmother, she also felt that ever thing that moves or breaths has value. Whether it be the smallest fish, or the most beautiful coral. If such feelings could be hereditary.

Liandrich

@Silen Syanka
"No. I'm the first one in my...family to bear the name 'Liandrich'. So I have to build the reputation myself." Another reason why he felt like he had to perfect himself everywhere he could. His father bore the name of the many great kings before him. That name alone give him a lot of honor and respect. So from there it was easy to rule the kingdom and do great things. Liandrich felt like it was different for him. There was no inherited honor. Built it all yourself, he told himself at night. Rise and soar like an eagle. Be golden and great. Petty fantasies of course. The reality was a lot more brutal. Gathering honor on a battlefield would be no problem for him. Even know, as he thought about leading his troops into battle. Holding a banner in his left hand and his sword high in his right. A fantasy that so often plastered a smile over his lips. Even now. But that was not the life of a king. The life of a king was behind closed doors. Surrounded by advisors talking with venom.

"So are you an heir? Or a liability?" A little blunt but again, true in Liandrich's eyes. He asked because he was interested. For him, only an heir had true purpose to a great family. Everyone younger had no true written out destiny. If he'd ever get a sister of brother, they would be useless. Maybe the brother could become his personal body guard. But what if that same brother want to raise as king himself? He thought that Thalassa could not be an heir. She was to free, with no apparent duties. Only siblings of an heir have that freedom.

@legion02The question that everyone seemed to ask. Surely, such a weak and frail creature as herself would never be in charge of an entire kingdom. Never would anyone wish to guess that thousands of lives would some day be balanced in the palm of her hands. Her voice hesitated in her throat to answer him. Cautiously stay behind her vocal chords, like a scared fish. Wishing to survive by hiding. But hiding would not always save you. "I am an only child" She told him quietly, indirectly answering the question that drummed in her head like thunder. Or the crashing of stormy seas.

Her father, since she was a young girl, had always allowed her freedom. Knowing that freedom would be the best thing for a girl of such bloodline. His thoughts mostly spun to his own mother. Who thanks to her fathers willingness to let her chase her dreams, became a great queen. A great warrior. Along with her own mothers stubbornness. It was no question that she would be free to make many decisions. However, she should not have been gone from the palace this long. Although they could not see the outside. It was already growing dark, with silver moonlight casting through the crystal waves. No doubt, her father would be worried. But this was not something she had on mind.

"Only child.." the answer stuck with David, who himself never had any siblings either. He remembered the lonely nights he had wished for a brother or sister. Or the night after a ball, when he wished he wasn't the heir. But the day after he would continue bear his cursed life again. "And what do you think will become of you later?" It wasn't said as a stab, and wasn't meant to either. It was genuine curiosity. If she was an heir, she must have thought about her future life as a ruler. There's no escaping fate. So what is she thinking now? Does she think she could live like this forever? Scared and fragile? Or does she know that she must change.

But it wasn't just that. Today was the first time in his life he met a fellow heir who was almost his opposite. Fragile, but beautiful. A girl who wasn't afraid to save and help creatures. She began to capture his interested, little by little. His guard began to crack and crumble, bit by bit. Liandrich sat back with his back against the rock, as comfortable as he could make it for himself.

@legion02Her hand nervously traced up and down her arm. Rubbing her pale skin in a nervous expression she could not completely control. "My dad will probably have me marry some noble... I'll be in charge of raising the next heir" She said quietly. Her father believed fully well in letting the next queen or king decide on his or her spouse. So that they would have the opportunity to truly love their spouse. His parents had allowed him to chose... But she realized she might never find 'the one'. How could she if she was to nervous to speak to strangers. She didn't know how to flutter or court.
