Name:
Kohl Hendrix
Age:
16
Gender:
Male
Species:
Human
Personality:
Kohl is a very loyal, caring person. Always trying to help someone in need, Kohl truly believes that if you do good things, than good things come to you. Kohl is outgoing in the sense where he won't do anything to draw attention to himself, like cause a scene but will help an old lady across the street, and then have a 20 minute conversation with her after he has crossed the street. Always finding a way to help people around him is what Kohl is best at. Sometimes Kohl is too kind, and is oblivious to the fact that there are some BAD people out in the world. Kohl's kindness sometimes gets him taken advantage of, where someone will ask him to do their homework when they know he will never say no to a request.
History:
Kohl was born to a former Hunter and Huntress'. Kohl had always looked up to his father and mother, one day wanting to be as skilled as they were. Kohl's father was a skilled archer, and taught Kohl everything he knew on how to shoot a bow. Kohl practiced everyday for years straight, no matter the condition outside, Kohl was out at the archer range shooting arrows at targets that were set up.
When Kohl was 12 the news was broke to him that his father was killed on the job. The truth was that Kohl's dad had sacrificed his life to save his entire team. The news had of course put Kohl through a saddened time but he was never mad at the fact he gave his life for his team. Kohl understood why he had to do it, and soon realized he would've probably done the same. Kohl while attending his fathers funeral, was given a note by a mysterious man in a cloak. While Kohl was looking down at the note, the man had vanished before Kohl could ask what, or who he was. The note was a simple address, which Kohl tracked down easily.
Where the note led was a antique shop in the middle of the city. Upon entering the store, a old man behind the counter greeted Kohl, saying "Oh, I am glad you decided to come." Kohl questioning what was going on was told that the old man was his father's personal teacher, and that if anything were to happen to Kohl's father that he would teach Kohl the true art of archery. Kohl still questioning what was going on, was greeted with a picture of the old man looking a little younger, with a 17 year old version of Kohl's father. Kohl's father was drawing back the bow, while the old man yelled at the young version of Kohl's father obviously telling him to correct his sloppy form. "That was the first day of training." The old man started looking at the picture again, before eyeing Kohl up and down. "I hope you're not as bad as he was on the first day, I don't think i'm able to take such bad form ever again" The old man chuckled. "Starting today, you can call me Sensei."
There wasn't much question after that, the man was telling the truth. Kohl after a little debate in his head, decided to agree to the old man's training. Days became weeks, and weeks became months, and months became years. Many years of hard training paid off, and Kohl's final challenge had come. Today was the day the training was complete and the final challenge was to hit a apple off the top of Sensei's head. From 100 yards out. Kohl was against the test at first, but after Sensei grabbed Kohl by both shoulders and told him in a soft whisper. "There isn't anyone else in the world that could make this shot. You and your father are two of the greatest students I ever had, I have 100% faith in you to hit this shot. Now you need to start having faith in here." Sensei touched Kohl's heart, before touching Kohl's temples "Instead of having 100% doubt in here. The great saying goes You miss every shot you don't take." The old man walked off, apple in hand. Kohl watched as the old man took a bite out of the apple, before reaching the tree exactly 100 yards out. The old man gave Kohl the thumbs up, while Kohl looked down at the bow, gripping it tightly. "You miss every shot you don't take." Kohl whispered, before drawing the bow string back and eyeing the apple set up top the old man's head.
Focus... Focus... Focus... and Release. Kohl let the arrow fly, flying faster and farther than any other arrow he shot before. Watching the old man, he couldn't help but watch as the old man was whispering something, while his eyes were closed, his hands clasped together. Praying. Kohl couldn't help but chuckle at that, the old man had so much "faith" in him but couldn't even open his eyes to realize the arrow had hit the apple ages ago. The old man opened one eye slowly, before reaching for the top of his head, to feel the feathers of the end of the arrow, the end of the apple. The old man and Kohl were both celebrating 100 yards apart, one was celebrating because he hit such an amazing shot, the other celebrating that he lived to see another day. The old man, took Kohl back to the antique shop where he was given the long-sword bow. The bow had been passed down from generations of great archers. "It was your fathers, I know he never showed you it. It was supposed to be a surprise birthday present." The old man chuckled, before hugging Kohl and laughing. "Just remember, my wise words and you'll go far." The old man said, with his signature few missing teeth grin.
Semblance:
Kohl's semblance is near perfect accuracy with his ranged weapon, able to hit near impossible shots with his bow. Kohl must concentrate to achieve very difficult shots, a slight break in his concentration can jeopardize the entire shot. When he hits the level of concentration his eyes hit a gold color, while his hands glow the same gold color.
Weapon:
A long-sword that can turn itself into a bow on command. While the sword is sharp and light-weight, the bow is his real choice of weapon. Due to his semblance.
Glad I got that done finally. Had super writers block with the history, and just started letting things fly off da fingatips. If anyone has questions/problems with my character please ask
It's fine, as long as you don't edit it's main components after the IC is up, heh. What did you edit this time?
For anyone interested, I edited Garret's personality a bit more, and spread it out into different paragraphs, for easier reading. He's still the same cool-headed, reserved guy, only he seems a bit more cold and unapproachable. Not mean, exactly, just a bit colder. That way, he can develop more as a character.
Just waiting for Angel Eyes, and then we'll need to formulate a team name.
With that being said, I can start working on the IC now. Would you guys prefer we start on the Airship there? That's what I'm currently writing, at least.
