Hello there, I am Shanks.
I am really not good at writing interest checks, because it is difficult to give examples of everything I am interested in. I also rarely have any plots or specifics in mind before I have a partner, because I like building a plot, setting, and the world with my partner. I find this makes for something more interesting and more involved for both parties.
With that said, here are the genres I'm particularly interested in, but it is not a definitive list:
Medieval
Fantasy
Scifi/space exploration
Military (past present or future)
Steam punk
Renaissance
Cyberpunk
I suppose I should point out a few things as well:
-I am a male, my lead will be a male because I am still working on writing believable female chars.
-I generally prefer the dynamic of m/f. This is not set in stone though.
-I post in the daytime when I am able. Sometimes life gets crazy and I will have to make up for it in the evening/weekend, but this time is generally reserved for my family. (I may check messages and respond, but I wont spend the time on a post generally)
-I understand most people like romance in an rp, which is fine with me assuming it fits the circumstances and is not the same old cliches we've seen a thousand times.
-I do not do sex scenes. I find it rare that it would even be necessary, but if a scene led to that I do fade to black.
-mature content beyond that is fine, but please don't be extreme just for the sake of it. Loads of swearing/ gore/ fill in the blank, just because someone thinks it's cool is really lame, and poor writing.
-I would say casual level writing is expected. If you can manage more than that, that is great too. To me, quality is by far the most important issue, so I don't like putting minimums or anything to that effect. BUT let's be honest, it takes more than a few sentences to make anything interesting happen. Every post has the potential to contain great content. (if this makes me sound strict, I really am not, if I see my partner struggling with a post I am more than willing to discuss it and give my advice. This is a team effort.)
That pretty much sums it up, so I suppose I will stop now. PM me if you are interested. I am not likely to check the thread for replies.
