The year is 2022, November Sixth to be exact. The most anticipated game in a long while has finally launched and everyone who could get there hands on a copy rushed home and quickly plugged in. What greeted them was a wonderful new world. The world of Sword Art Online. It was, for most, their first taste of the virtual world. And this world is where you find yourself. Grassy plains, rivers whole villages! Everything is perfect until the Game Master calls everyone to the Town of Beginnings. The GM, Kayaba Akahiko, informs the 10,000 players that they are now trapped inside of this game. The log out feature has been removed. Your avatar updates, you no longer hide behind your virtual mask. You're trapped inside of this virtual world, and now it's more than a game now, when you die here, you die for real. The wonderful world of sword art online is has gone from a dream come true to a living nightmare. How will you survive?
It is now April of the year 2023, and the strike team has just defeated the boss on the 25th floor. Many guilds have risen and one of those guilds, known as Neon Colossus has been making it's mark in the background. The guild isn't too large, containing only 50 or so members, but has made it's way into the group clearing on the front lines. This is the story of the higher up members of that guild as they make their way up the floors to help everyone escape Aincrad and Sword Art Online. Hopefully they all make it out as well.
Welcome to this wonderful Sword Art Online RP. We're going to be playing as a group of players, in a guild of course, trying to beat the game, hanging out and (hopefully) not dying. We will be in a guild known as Neon Colossus which has 50 members (so feel free to make up subordinates for you to boss around), and we'll be one of the guilds on the strike team as well, but there will be some down time as well. We'll have fight scenes and chill scenes as well as some basic questing to do. I hope you'll have fun!
This happens in the Canon universe. So Kirito and the other major characters all exist, we just won't be hanging out or interacting with them too much, but there are a lot of time gaps in the show so maybe they'll show up at some point.
To make things hopefully more fun, ,we're allowing everyone to have their own unique skill, like Kirito's dual wielding ability. Don't make it too OP like "Can insta kill anything 1/2 of the time" and make sure nobody already took it.
Post your character sheets/applications into the characters tab so when your character grabs some loot you can just edit it onto the sheet/remove it when it's gone.

So, I'm guessing that we should flesh out our character relationships and roles within the guild before we begin. Otherwise we'll be strolling around like a bunch of newbies.
In any case, I'd like for Mez to take a lead combat role/position, if that's okay with everyone else? Possibly Pterro's right-hand man within the guild?
Funny thing is, I was going to suggest that same thing. Of course I have the leader of the guild as my character because I'm mad with power and letting it go to my head.(and you actually guessed the role for your character I was going to suggest)
Attania is utterly useless until he pulls out of that slump and gets a new katana or fixes his katana, so he can just get the worst "bottom-of-the-barrel" role.

By the way, In regards to levels, I take it that we're following the canon? Which would mean that at Floor 26 the lead group would be in the late 30's level range i.e. 36-38. (Kirito doesn't reach Level 40 until April 2023, by which point the lead group are on Floor 27)

Honestly, I don't want to keep track of exp but if you want to work it into IC posts then definitely follow the Canon in regards to what level your character is.
