Hello there. Your (possible) new buddy LHG is just making a new RP for giggles, since he's an impatient twit who's easily bored.

As the title says, I'm currently thinking of a casual RP with a setting inspired by RWBY and Bloodborne, yet with the full cast (and more) of your standard genericmcmedieval fantasy world. (Strange as hell combo, I know). For certain, the major facets of the setting would be a decent variety of races and other such things, spooky-ass monsters littering the landscapes, and badass hunters meant to make sure they don't go too crazy. While the setting will be inspired by both things and feature similar items, abilities, archetypes, and themes, it'll have enough original things to make it interesting, and nothing will be EXACTLY the same.

The PC's would be part of a 'Beast-Hunters-Guild', an organization with no 'leaders' or anything aside from those with the most respect. Their 'job' is to hunt the various deadly fauna that inhabit their world, mainly the 'Sickened'. The 'Sickened' refers to infected individuals from all races and peoples that have been infected with a 'Beast-Plague', which turns them into a variety of nasty creatures. Think werewolves, zombies, and many other things. There are also 'Fae', which are much more dangerous on an individual basis, but are thankfully much rarer. Unfortunately for the PC's, there's all sorts of other things to fight, though!

The Beast-Plague has been a thing ever since the birth of the world, and is simply a part of life now. Generally, every decade the entire world has to collectively hole up inside special 'Fortress-Cities' until the Beast-Hunters kill the latest bout of Plagued individuals, and find the current source and stab it dead, repeatedly. It's generally some sort of Uber-Plagued, or a Fae that somehow got Sickened, but that's only happened once so far.

The Beast-Hunters have many tools at their disposal, ranging from their trusty Switch-Weapons, to Alchemy, to Magic. Switch-Weapons are just that; Weapons that can switch from two, rarely three or more forms. The most common example is a type of short-sword, with the blade and handle being able to lengthen themselves, turning them into pikes, or axes. Switch-Weapons are usually made out of Star-Metal, which is highly rare and is superb, if not the absolute best in all qualities.

Alchemy keeps the Beast-hunters in the fight, and is able to augment the natural abilities, if any, of their race, along with strength and endurance. Medicines that improve some races' natural poisons, or increase their stamina, and other such things are very common for Hunters to acquire. While they're commonly "Intense-but-short" augments, "Small-but-permanent" potions are also a thing, but much harder to manufacture, and are quite priceless.

Magic has two schools: Vitae, and Exicus. Vitae magic efficiently uses the caster's own 'Mana' to do things. Exicus is technically a language used to bargain with omni-present spirits and such for stronger and more permanent effects, like talking to the collective 'spirit' of a forest to convince it to imbue some of its' energies on a piece of clothing or armor. Generally much more costly, but it's worth your time if you can deal with haggling such beings.

Beast-hunters com from many walks of life, and can be of many species. Each species has many different cultures to it, yet it doesn't mean that each culture is just of that species. The most prominent ones are as follows; The Humans, The Giants, The Elven, The Dwarven, and The Harpies. More information on each, including things such as dominant cultures, will be detailed in other posts.

Of course, the Beast-Plague affects all species, regardless of their origins. Types of beast vary, from slow, powerful, yet abundant brutes, to devilishly fast towering abominations, disgustingly merged from multiple Giants. Rarely, Sickened individuals appear to still have their old memories and skills, and use them to their own advantage in their new state. Beware the Hunter who succumbs to the sickness!

I'll now start being less IC and post 'actual' information. The players can be any race, but do note that while giants are technically available, many complications will arise, so they won't be 100% recommended. You'll all be in and operating on the continent of Kurith, in human areas. At the start, you're all being taught as Aspiring Hunters by your Mentor, Joshua. He's taught the PC's the absolute basics, and everyone shall meet at his camp at the 'Silent Forest', a gigantic, hallowed and ancient forest that has been beset by Plague-Beasts, and is likely to be the source of the next Plague Resurgence.

'Today' would be time for a first full 'hunt' attended by the PC's, with Joshua giving them an additional mission, which all hunters are required to do: Find the biggest, baddest animal each Hunter can, acquire dominance over it, and finalize that relationship with the first Exicus spell they'll each learn: 'Turn Familiar', which will bind it to the Caster's will permanently. Do note, it only works once, so be absolutely sure what creature you choose is the one you desire! Joshua in-RP will tell if asked what animals usually stalk the Silent Forest. Each PC will be needed to bag at least one Beast, and find and create a Familiar.

(No, it doesn't work on Beasts. Or people.)

In any case, I'm hoping for at least two players, as soon as I get those I'll move all of this to the relevant sub-forum and post more needed information. Max should be four. Also, in terms of looks, everything is victorian or Medieval as the title suggests. just google each of those with 'city' somewhere. Humans are the most 'semi-modern' though, Elves are close second, the Dwarves and Giants are still at obviously medieval.

Feel free to ask anything about the setting you may be wondering about!

About damn time BTW, I had so much trouble posting the OP for some reason.

Anyway, the first Race Details post: Humans!

Humans are, obviously, your standard humans, much like yourself!. There are three dominant cultures, all sharing the continent of Kurith with the Giants, and each-other. The simple, strong, and friendly North-Landers, who obviously come from the chilly northern parts of the continent. Many Hunters come from there, and so do many mercenaries! The Reassian Empire is the next, coming from the west. They're mainly known for their lovely, unique architecture, which inspired the styles for most other Human and Giant cities. The Nu' Roam around the lands, and are adept traders. They breed the strongest horses and other pack-animals, and are great with bows and the recent development of 'firearms'. They have many 'Clans', and they're led by a Clan Council who meets every month to make important decisions. Thankfully, they have little internal strife. The rest of the lands, the east and south, are mainly inhabited by the mighty Giants.

Humans are noted by the other races for a much higher trust in raw determination. Compared to others, a Human won't give up until their body is broken and the gods are on the enemy's side. Even then, some humans still wouldn't give up at that. Tactics and strategy wise, (Concerning beast-hunting, anyway), many Human beast-hunters simply attempt to directly attack the enemy, dodging Beasts' strikes and saving all of their strength for that one, glorious attack at the end when the Beast is simply too tired to continue. While it's generally effective, the other Races do frown on such a 'slow' method. It's also common for Human Hunters to instead focus on 'Aggressive Defensiveness', fighting in defensive formations and leading Beasts into kill-zones right in front of them.

This day: Elves! FUCKING ELVES!

The Elves live on the continent of Straneyeth, along with the Dwarves and the Harpies, to a lesser extent. The Elves take up the eastern half of the large continent, the Dwarves the west, and the Harpies a 'line' through the north to the south. The common Elf, compared to Humans, are slightly taller, more lithe, and generally are more fragile and rely more on their natural magical talents. The Elves are divided into five groups: High-Men, the nobles, Low-Men, the commoners, Dark-Elven, and the Dark Elven has High-Men and Low-Men. High-Men are even more proficient with magic, most Arch-mages, (World-renowned magic users) have been High-Elven. Low-Elven are in general a bit stronger, but not to the extent of the dwarves, and nowhere near the Giants.

'Normal' Elven as they're commonly called, are more populous, at a rough 3/4ths ratio of the Elven population. All Elves work together in decent harmony, meaning minimal, yet still existing strife, is the norm. Full-out civil wars or revolutions are rare, but still happen on occasion. The pent-up frustration of the populace is generally found to come out more 'low-key', Elven cities and townships do suffer from riots or strikes somewhat more often then Human or Dwarf ones.

Elven Hunters, and general combat tactics, usually rely on fielded High-Elven casters being defended and supported by Low-Men, or in the case of Hunters, their allies. High-Elf casters are generally geared more for Vitae spells, but Exicus isn't uncommon. Elven offensive spells generally include things such as lightning bolts, waves of kinetic force, and telekinesis. Low-Men are generally trained for pike or halberd usage, and use that weapon types' range, versatility, and pure ease-of-use to their advantage.

The Elves are lead by a council of ten 'Emperors' who rule over various 'Lords', who command each individual holding or outpost. Most of the higher-ups are Light Elves, but Dark Elves being lords or emperors isn't terribly rare. It's a quite direct and uncompromising rule, and any Lord who disagrees too much with their Emperor is generally exiled, or worse, executed.

Soon to be editted in: The Giants!

Well I'll handle all of the NPC's, but you may say that Joshua is my primary 'voice', yes. Anyway, since we have two people interested, I'll make the thread itself and continue posting there.
