Are we going to assume that Gems might be conscious inside their Gems once healed to a certain degree? There is some evidence that it is that way, they just don't know what's going on on the outside, but none that I can think of that goes against it.

I would assume they are conscious on the inside of their gems, they just don't know what is going on around them is what it sounds like. That is my opinion anyway.
