It's serious but I'm trying to stay positive. My cat of 14 years is in the vet with some serious problems. All my cats are feral cats I caught when they were as young as abandoned bottle feed to a few months. My baby that I bottle feed hasn't been doing well but he is okay now that they found the right mess. Sadly, I was bring him home to find my other cat that has a heart problem completely limp. He is being very strong but isn't eating very much which worries me. I won't have results until tomorrow on what is going on. Plus this all happened when he wasn't with me since I have to save up money for pet deposits. They were at my moms. She has raised these babies too so she is completely falling apart so I am holding it together and trying to keep her positive.

Okay, maybe this shouldn't be my place to speak, but...

What kind of parent leaves their three year old child alone in a busy park unsupervised? What kind of person sees this kid up on the highest branches of the tree which are snapping under his weight repeatedly screaming at the top of their lungs "MOM! MOM! MOMMY HELP ME! HELP! MOM!" again and again and just watches from afar, asking the people nearby where his mother is in these passive monotone voices? Like, HELLO! THIS TWO FOOT TALL KID COULD SMASH HIS SKULL UPON FALLING ANY SECOND NOW AND HIS MOTHER CLEARLY ISN'T COMING SO FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO SOMETHING! These people are all taller than me too, could have helped him out a lot easier than I could've, and it'd have probably been safer too. I'm happy the kid's safe now but dear god people, I don't know if you're scared of some stupid law or something but I don't know how the hell you can just sit back and watch. That kid could've really hurt himself, hell, could've died or something, and you would've sat back and watched.

Wow...I'm not going to even say half the things I want to say Loon because I am honestly beyond livid now that I have read this. I honestly don't understand people and that sickens me to no end that no one stepped up to help this poor child. It makes me furious that the kid was ever in that position because as a mother it is your job to try to keep them from harms way as best you can and not even being there just blows my mind.

@Akayaofthemoon That's awful, I wish I could do more than be here for you. I'm sure your cats know that you love them a lot and I hope the results that come back are good.

@Loony Wow, that really is terrible. I would have been ready to threaten to call CPS or somebody. I'm glad you were there, because holy crap that's awful. I mean, I get why people might be tentative about going near somebody else's kid, but there are situations where it's obviously okay. It was good of you to help.

Thanks Spinna. I know one of them is in the clear but my other isn't looking so great. I've gotten some good news but he isn't out of the water yet. I am dreading the call tomorrow and hopeful all at the same time.

@Akayaofthemoon @21308 Mother or otherwise, someone, someone should've stepped up before I had to myself. Embarrassing as this is I wasn't even aware that this kid -that it even was a kid- was up in a tree screaming for help until I hear someone next to me mumble 'did you see his mom?' because this was shortly after I nearly passed out and my brain wasn't exactly functioning as well as it should've, and only then did I start to pick up his words. I was so scared I would've not have been able to catch him either because I was already disorientated as it was but no help would've been worse than slightly-less-than-adequate help. I feel so stupid because I was so brain dead that I didn't even try to help and find his mother afterward and just kept an eye out for him, dear god am I stupid. And the thing was, there were around 30-50 other people in that park and NO ONE was doing ANYTHING. Like, what the actual hell people!?

And I'm really sorry to hear about your cat, Akaya. I'll let you know that they're in my prayers and that I hope the news you get back is good news.

@Loony That situation is just so messed up all around, and it sounds like someone deserved a serious tongue-lashing. That kid's parents are lucky I wasn't there, because I'm at a point in my life where I honestly wouldn't be afraid to ask them what the hell they were thinking. Good on you for stepping up though!

@21308 Honestly I'm usually too docile to have given a tongue-lashing but...Honestly, what the hell were they thinking. Probably not much, but dear god.
I think I'm more upset with the bystanders than the mother because though I can't imagine how she could justify what she did she wasn't there to have done anything, but damn there were A LOT of people who WERE there and didn't even though they could. They were so apathetic towards the situation it pissed me off so badly.

Therapist can't restore what wasn't there to begin with. Could stop me from being a misanthrope after a year of being terrified of people but couldn't make me have faith in them. I believe humans are capable of both amazing and terrible things but sadly our instincts like to lie on what's convenient to us versus what's best for others so we more often than not do terrible things. It's like how I truly believe that anything is possible but very few, if any, people has the drive to do the 'impossible'.

And now I sound pessimistic as hell don't I.
