@Akayaofthemoon That really is cool how it's been in your family for generations and everything. My family used to do something similar but sadly my grandparents on both sides of the family ended up selling their farms.

Wow, you've lived in even more places than I have. I live sort of near the mountains too, if a totally different set (range?) of them.

@HaltingBlooper Oh yes, I've seen quite a lot of snow. It snows several times a year here in Ohio, usually with plenty of school cancellations and lovely days where you can just leave all responsibility behind for a while. You live in Portland though? Color me jealous, I'd love to live there.

@21308 You'd have to give up the snow. Also it rains here a lot, but it is actually nice.

@HaltingBlooper Hm, I could probably live with that. I love snow quite a lot and I hate to dump on my hometown, but Portland sounds cooler than Cincinnati in pretty much every way.

@Akayaofthemoon That's cool! You've definitely lived in more places than me. My dad travels a lot so I've been to quite a few parts of the country, but I've lived in rural Ohio for my entire life.

I've visited states but have never lived in many though I can't complain. I have loved almost all the places I have lived in. I want to visit many more but we will see how that turns out later in life ^-^

@Akayaofthemoon I'm the same way, I feel like I'm really lucky to have visited as many places as I have. I'm actually planning on trying to reward myself with a trip to New England if I'm able to do well this semester.

@Akayaofthemoon Oh, what part of Florida? My family goes there every year, it's nice but honestly I always found it a bit boring.

Not sure which part. It would be close to Disney World I would think since my husband's dad is the one that wanted us to come up and visit and talked about a possible Disney World trip (Which I would be over the moon about since I am a huge Disney fan and have never been)

@Akayaofthemoon Oh, so you'll be near Orlando! That's a pretty cool area, I actually went there by accident earlier this year. I really hope you get to go, Disney World is awesome! That used to make our family trips tolerable for me as a kid, it made sitting around on the beach doing nothing for several days and usually getting horribly sun burnt completely worth it.

I got to Fort Bragg a lot as a kid for vacation. It was just my mom and me till I was like 13 so it was hard for her to do those kinds of things when I was young. She wanted too but it never happened. I didn't even go to Disneyland until like 17 or so.

@Akayaofthemoon Aw that kind of sucks. Fort Bragg is in South Carolina though right? That's kind of funny, my mom and I used to go there too. And yeah vacations are definitely a lot harder with only one parent, thankfully my parents were still together and actually had money when I was a young child, and after that I was old enough to help my mom with a lot of the vacation stuff when she wanted to go.

Not really, I was okay with it. Naw it is still Northern California. It is nice there and my favorite place in the world that I have seen so far. My parents split up when I was two. My dad is a little younger than my mom and wasn't ready to grow up. In his defence, he did right by my mom. They had only been dating three months when I came around and he did marry my mom and loves me very much. I didn't doubt that. He is just immature and flaky. He has been much more there since he remarried finally and had my sisters. He made me cry on my wedding day though by telling me that him not being there for me would be his biggest regret and asked for my forgiveness even though he always had it. I hope my words put his mind at ease. I didn't want him to have to continue to look at my sisters and think, I wonder if she did this at this age.

@Akayaofthemoon Immature and flaky, that actually sounds a good bit like my dad. And I'm glad you were okay with your childhood and stuff. I don't know, I guess I feel kind of guilty when I talk about my (relatively) privileged upbringing. I feel bad that stuff went bad between your parents though, I mean I know that's common but it still kind of sucks. But yeah, I know how it is having a dad who you need to forgive for a lot of stuff, he put my family through a fair amount of hell for a while. I'm glad to hear things got better between you and him though, it was really sweet of him to say that to you.

I have always loved my dad and he didn't need to be forgiven. I always understood. It was just hard to be without him. I wished to see him every birthday for a long time. I never met my dad in person till I was nine. It never hurt me though. It just made my mom and me closer. I was never jealous of others and understood as a child that parents could be unhappy staying together. It had nothing to do with me. I was loved by both, just one had trouble showing it. I thought it was very sweet of him to say it but I felt bad that he had beat himself up over me. I didn't want him to be sad by the way things turned out because everything happens for a reason. If my parents had stayed together, I would not have two beautiful sisters. I have not gotten to meet them in person but I have talked to them. I love them.

@Akayaofthemoon I bet your dad is really glad that you love him so much, I know plenty of people who would have been far less forgiving in that situation.
