@21308 I'm just going to assume the talking green bird was some sort of Amazon, solely because they're one of the two best talkers (The other being African Grays, which, obviously, are gray and not green). And it depends on the toucan as well. Aracaris and toucanets tend to like touch more than large toucans since they're flock birds, and if it were imported from the wild rather than bred or or even if it simply wasn't tame it might've not been a good idea. Toucans' bits don't hurt but the larger ones can hit and jab with their beak rather well, so that might've been it. It seems strange but maybe it was a preventative meassure?

@LoonyYou should probably use Akaya and Gang Inc.'s Love_and_affection.ini, seems to be a great fix for most things.

@Loony I'll take your word for it then :p. Also that reminds me, there was an African Grey parrot there too, that was the bird we weren't allowed to be loud around, I guess because they were old? Also I did some quick Googling and going from memory, the toucan they had looked the most similar to a keel-billed toucan. And yeah it was probably a preventative measure or they just thought he wouldn't want to be touched all day.

@pyroman@Akayaofthemoon I'll try it then. ^ ^"

@21308 It could also be that because African Grays tend to pick up noise levels of their surroundings. Not a lot of people can handle a noisy African Gray, though granted it's not as bad as Cockatoos. And yeah, I think so too.

@Loony Haha that could also be why. It's funny you should mention that African Greys are also known to be good talkers because that one was also known to greet customers, which probably led to some irritating situations for employees because kids would always want to say hello back. There was also one of those beautiful red parrots that you see in drawings of rainforests.

@21308 I'm going to guess Scarlet Macaws? Those are what most folk think of when they hear parrot.

Also, @RaijinSlayer I've just had a horrible, horrible idea for a series of drawings with Reggie and Eve. Maybe even with @pyroman Sodalite as well. As well as one for Aqua and Howlite.

It is going to wretch your very souls.

@Raijinslayer They will be shared! And they won't be messy sketches anymore, because I can do digital art, which has a little magical thing called an 'undo' button when you mess up lining. It's magical, really.

@Loony Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what they were. Also I just remembered this other thing in Florida from my childhood. There's this guy there who just sits in the street with a bunch of animals during the day, and you can pay him to put a bird on your head and take your picture with it. It was really fun but looking back on it I really hope he wasn't abusing that bird. Do you think that one would be willing to pose for photos if you trained it well enough?

@21308 Well, as long as the bird was comfortable and the environment or the kids weren't stressing them out, I don't see a problem. Some birds are more camera shy than others, and there's nothing wrong with putting a bird on your head as long as both the person and the bird are comfortable. Emi actually loved posing for cameras and she had a particular fondness for heads, so a lot of my friends would ask me to and Emi would be more than happy to. Never paid anyone for it. XD

I'd have to see the actual bird itself to tell whether or not it was healthy.

I have pretty mixed feelings about bringing the bird outside, if the photo shoot was done there. It depends on individual cases, but a lot of pet birds aren't used to them and are easily stressed out by all the unfamiliar sights and sounds, especially things like cars, and outdoor animals could pose a threat.

I heard feels in here....the feels.....

Anyway, some birds are very comfortable with being on heads. My parakeet did that till she died. Loves to make nests in people's hair and would run to their shoulder to poo on the floor. I never taught her this. She just did it. Sweetest bird ever

@Loony It sounds like you missed a great business opportunity, you could have moved to some tourist-heavy area and told them they could have a picture with your super rare tropical bird! Hmm, I was only like 9 at the time so I only vaguely remember what this bird looked like and can't really say if it was healthy. I at least don't remember it being restrained or anything so I'm assuming it was sticking around because it knew better than to leave its owner. You do bring up a good point about the bird being outside though. I don't remember what it looked like that well but I'm pretty positive if was some sort of parrot, it was definitely a larger bird and colorful, although I can't remember exactly what colors. So, at least an island in Florida probably wasn't too different from the climate it was used to? I'm pretty sure this was in Key West, so a pretty small town but relatively big considering how much nothing there is surrounding it. The large crowds and traffic may have bothered the bird, but the only other animals nearby were smaller birds and tiny lizards.
