"It's Saturday, 2 hours after noon. You can hear ambulances blazing outside and the occasional seagull chatting to it's friends about food. You wouldn't have ever thought a Saturday would be boring. While brainlessly browsing the internet you find a pink banner that displays 'Want to be an Alchemist?' in bold text in a mixture of colours. You thought it was a joke but something about it interests you. It's like the maker of the advert knows how to persuade you. After a minute of thinking, you decide to click it. Apparently the Alchemist's Workshop is right around the corner!"
Hello everyone!
This is my attempt of an interest check. I haven't made a roleplay on this site before but I have on others. You can ask me questions if you'd like and if we get enough people then obviously I'll make an OOC. The idea I had for it was people would knock on the door and the Alchemist will tell you about his backstory and all about Alchemy. I'd like a more scientific approach on it even though Alchemy is really a magical concept yet I still put both tags not to confuse anyone. The roleplay is set in a big town (possibly in England or maybe even a parallel planet to Earth?) and the time is present day. If you're not sure how this can be both scientific and magical, let me explain:
Alchemy is the process or study or combination, transformation and creation. It's like chemistry but it follows less rules. People usually believe Alchemy is about spirits and magic which is the case some times. I'd like it to stay realistic but not be identical to common chemistry since that would be boring. To fulfill the fantasy part, there's going to be unusual ways of making potions and the actual effects of the potions are going to sound impossible. There will also be new ingredients and substances to test with. As for the science, the ways in which this will happen will be explained in great detail and sound possible. A potion that can force someone to speak the truth? How about saying that the certain ingredients can induce hallucinations yet another one makes the person feel confident. Just like alcohol, sometimes you say things you don't want to say when you're drunk and the way we have combined these two mixtures means they speak the truth (and nothing but the truth :3).
Sorry for my weird idea and for confusing the **** out of everyone. As I said, you may ask questions and this is only a first draft/interest check anyway. A lot will change and it may become more magical. I may even learn how to explain my ideas with better examples :D
Reply or send me a PM if you're interested. I'll start on the OOC once we have enough feedback
