APPEARANCE: Eric is Caucasian. He stands at 5’10 and weighs around two-hundred pounds. His body isn’t at its best, and while he does own some muscle, he’s still got a bit of a gut. He’s a rough-looking man with defined facial features, accentuated by wrinkles caused by age and stress. His black hair and beard are both rather unkempt, with a good number of gray strands spread about. His eyes are a dull, pale blue and look rather sunken. He dresses himself in a combination of Martian colony worker’s gear and combat padding, all colored in a combination of black, gray, and lots of maroon. He wears the symbol of the World Patriots on a maroon band strung across his left shoulder, a simple white globe with the letters WP in the center.
PERSONALITY: At most times, Eric is a stoic man who simply exudes leadership and authority, commanding his forces with a gentle but stern voice. At other times, he is a loud, rallying force, unafraid of downplaying the enemy in his speeches. A good many of the World Patriots serving under him know the man as if he were a long-time friend, and the rest simply look up to him as the one ready to lead the effort to reclaim Earth, brave and unwavering in the face of the powers nonhumans possess.
POWER(S)/CUSTOM(S): Eric owns the first and one of the largest Customs ever designed, let alone built, among the World Patriots’ combined forces. The Gradivus, named after the birthplace of the World Patriots, was designed by Eric himself and built from scratch during the early days of the faction’s formation.
Designed to act as both an unstoppable force and an immovable object, the Gradivus stands stationary at around ten meters tall, and is comprised of four main components; the left and right treads, the lower body, and the upper body. The treads are both large, extendable, all-terrain focused mobility systems able to navigate through rough terrain and push through debris easily with their dual battering shields. It should be no surprise that the Gradivus is far from the fastest Custom around, but stopping it when it is moving is no easy feat. Two auto-targeting, heavy caliber turrets rest on each tread. The lower body contains a large afterburner system able to propel the Gradivus forward at decent speed. Now, the upper body, which is where the weaponry really starts to show. The Gradivus’ upper body is a large, heavily armored platform outfitted with four swarming missile pods, two mortars, and two heavy shot-firing main guns. One last item is stored within the upper body; a heavy nuclear explosive package, meant for detonation upon the Gradivus’ defeat, in the hopes of taking its adversaries down with it.
The Gradivus has been crammed with all sorts of defensive tech. The outer layer is comprised of a combination plastic-hardened metal shell, able to resist metal manipulation powers effectively. PsychoFiber, as is common in the World Patriots’ forces, covers the interior systems to defend against technopaths and, to a lesser extent, electrokinetics. The army can withstand very high temperatures and heavy impact, puncture, or slash-based attacks. A bulwark if ever one did exist.
Now, the downside. Unlike most other Customs, Eric poured resources into the Gradivus and, as a result, only ever built one. Once it’s gone, it’s not coming back. That’s why Eric has made it doubly clear that the Gradivus will not be sent out save for major assaults on heavily populated areas. He says, in truth, that he expects it to be destroyed at some point in the conflict. But he’s confident, in that case, that it will be responsible for the deaths of many nonhumans and will be remembered as a major contender in the battle for Earth.
HISTORY: Eric Longford is the founder and continuing leader of the World Patriots. Before Exodus, he was one of the lead unit designers for a robotics company known as Carlyle APS, Automated Pacification Services. His was one of the many companies hired across the globe to help construct suitable service drones to handle nonhumans, and in many situations, he succeeded. Every time he spearheaded a project that proved effective however, eventually someone would come around and trash the model like it was nothing. Always striving to improve the many models that were in play, Eric often overworked himself to a point where he could do nothing but sit and watch the world around him fall apart. As time went on and the problems grew worse, Carlyle APS was eventually brought to ruin when their headquarters was destroyed and their board members were killed, all by a single nonhuman, just months before Exodus was launched.
Upon humanity’s departure from their ruined cradle, Eric took up work as one of the construction heads for the newly formed System Government’s colonization effort on Mars. With the technology available, setting up was over and done with quickly, and life soon returned to a feeling of routine normality. But for Eric, there was always a lingering grudge, a feeling of being wronged by the entirety of the nonhuman species. It didn’t take long for his feelings and attitude to sound themselves out to his coworkers, who all rallied behind him. Eventually, construction efforts ceased entirely, and they were replaced with calls to arms. Upon the formation of the World Patriots and the birth of the plan for Operation Homecoming, SysGov lost a substantial number of its work force to the World Patriots. One or two cases of civil unrest may have broken out, but they all ended soon when the fleet was launched, with pools of resources in tow.
Eric and the World Patriots were, and still are, very determined to take back Earth. Every nonhuman is a target to them, histories aside, and they have the forces necessary to reclaim the birthplace of mankind.
APPEARANCE: NoRA, being an artificial intelligence, is without form. So, nothing really to put here.
PERSONALITY: NoRA, when she was active, was always the work-focused type. Even as an AI, she was unconcerned with the aspects of life and consciousness, always feeling the urgency of the state of the world around her as her top priority. She never stopped recording every little detail of every single nonhuman that was added to her database. When Exodus happened, she didn’t so much as flinch when the command came in to initiate shutdown procedures. Who knows if she’ll be the same once the World Patriots wake her up?
POWER(S)/CUSTOM(S): N/A
HISTORY: NoRA, the Nonhuman Registry Archivist, was created four years before Exodus through a cooperative effort between several major companies. She was designed to be the record keeper of every single nonhuman on Earth, and for the most part, she succeeded in that intended function. However, in the years before humanity abandoned the planet, the widespread chaos and destruction called for a redirection of attention from simply taking a census to tracking the whereabouts of nonhumans for kill orders. One of the companies that helped create NoRA, Somniatis APR, began work on a complex software upgrade that would allow her to scan for all nonhuman life on Earth via satellite. Unfortunately, Exodus came too soon, and the upgrade was never implemented.
After the planet was left to the nonhumans, NoRA shut herself down as was written in her emergency protocols. She sealed her central mainframe somewhere underground and has remained inactive and hidden away from the outside world for all eighteen years leading up to Homecoming. And now that the World Patriots have returned, they’ll have need of her abilities. And they have the means to reactivate her.
APPEARANCE: Deborah is an obviously athletic woman with the look and demeanor of an adventurer. It might be her relaxed movements, and the way she walks. Deborah is almost always seen smiling, or generally with a relaxed demeanor. Some can already tell that she's a more laid back person from the way she acts. Many can immediately tell that she isn't the type of girl who sits around and does nothing. For her body, she's quite muscular, but not ridiculously. She's the kind of person who looks like they play sports, and workouts on the side. Her entire body is somewhat muscular, but her arms and legs have the most muscles. Her legs have plenty of muscle are packed onto them, an indicator she is a devote track runner. Also she never skips leg day. Deborah has a tight stomach, that has some strong abs to them. Deborah's build is thin, she doesn't have too much width to her body, her muscles aren't bulging enough. Because of this, she doesn't have much in the breast/butt department - Her breasts are at least an B-cup. One of the most notable things about Deborah is that she towers above girls her size merely because of the fact that she's five inches above the average female height. Her strong legs make up most of this height. She's not super heavy to boot, but because of her muscles she has a bit more weight to her.
She's around the right weight for someone with her body mass. Her height and frame combined almost make her look masculine, if it wasn't for her clearly feminine facial features. Because of her rather active lifestyle, it shows in the amount of scars she has, though some of which belong to childhood blunders. They absolutely plaster her skin, but most of them are rather unnoticeable. Except for the scars on her knees - in fact, her legs have the most scars on her body. Speaking of her skin, she is dark-skinned, a brown color, with her skin having plenty of black freckles. Obviously showing the world her African-American ethnicity. Her hair and facial structure also do plenty to show her ethnicity. In addition, she has gotten a few tattoos. Starting at her wrist, going up her right arm, is a wreath of pointy tribal tattoos that have a similar appearance to fire. They go all the way to her chest, where she has a tattoo of a tribal sun on the right side of her chest. On her opposite shoulder there is a tattoo of the Eye of Provenience, inside of a rose. Deborah has a squared and heart shaped head, that's a bit wide - but overall her head is rather small. The top of her head is wide, compared to her lower-face which is thin. Deborah has some very small cheeks. She has small, thin, lips that don't have that feminine thickness to them. She has a small triangle-shaped nose that doesn't stick out too much. Her nose-bridge is quite long and thick, and her nostrils are rounded too. Deborah has a strong jawline with a large blocky chin that sticks out from the rest of her face a bit. Deborah's eyes are a nice brown color, and are medium sized that always have a sort of determination, or kindness in them. Deborah's hair is a deep black color, straight, and back length. Most of the time, Deborah keeps it in a ponytail, but there has been times where she's undid it and let it hang.
PERSONALITY: Fuck this, I don't have the drive to do this at the moment. I'll do it l8ter.
POWERS: Psychometric-Perception. Deborah has an extremely powerful information gathering ability that naturally makes her a great detective. Extra-sensory in nature. It's rather simple to explain, she gains information about what she perceives (What she sees, hears, smells, touches, and even tastes) about her environment automatically. It goes a little bit more in depth than that, since she does this by making connections between cause-and-effect, filling in the blanks of information. The possibilities are nearly endless. She could learn motives with a glance, learn about objects around her, and so on. But Deborah mostly uses this ability on other humans to learn about them. Technically, she has a lesser form of Empathy, as her whole power allows her to learn emotions through scanning body language. This ability to make connections allows her to do a little bit more than what you're thinking. By scanning enough about a particular subject, she can make larger connections. Such as if she's scanning a random object, she can learn that it's sentimental, and why. Or if she finds a gun on the ground smoking, she can tell how long ago it's been shot and where the bullet went. That's just a few examples in particular, since there's a ton of variables here. Unlike other abilities that are Psychometric in nature, this ability focuses on present time information, or more precisely what she is currently perceiving. Thus it doesn't allow her to learn everything instantly.
However, it is fully possible for her to make larger leaps of information past by making enough connections. How much she's trying to learn depends. For years in the past she would need to make several connections and remember all of them. Even the most distant and lost piece of information isn't lost to her. For example, if she finds a footprint on the ground and scans it (Gaining information about the size, weight, and etc, of the person) then find a person/boot that fits the description, she can fill in the blanks. Alternatively, she could solve a murder by scanning the crime scene (extensively) and heading to the murder's home and finding the murder weapon - filling in the blanks of information yet again. Think of it like one big puzzle. She has to gather all the pieces, and her power puts them all together so she can see the bigger picture. Get it?. However, compared to usual Psychometry, she requires much more effort to get the distant information. As a side ability, Deborah is much more observant and aware of her environment, very few details escape her sharp eyes. Which is suspected is due to heightened senses, or a side ability subtly working in the background. It has also given her a boost in the memory department. Not saying that she can recall every moment from the second she got her power, but she can easily remember the things that plagued humanity like "where did I leave the keys?", and "what was the name of that song?". Before you ask, no, this power doesn't give her thoughts, visions or emotions, just straight up information. The other abilities do.
Psychometric-Telepathy. A form of Telepathy that Deborah has been practicing, and has nearly gotten down. It works in conjunction with her first power. She can access the minds of others by touching an object belonging to the person, or making skin-to-skin contact with them. Such as the handkerchief she got from Shannon, she grabs it, and can open a telepathic link with her at any time. It's a very basic, rudimentary form of telepathy, thus she can only read thoughts and send them. Like a form of communication.
Premonitions. An ability that Deborah had discovered. It manifested very similar to could say, very similar to precognition. Except different in execution - but somewhat the same in function. Opposed to receiving a vision, she receives her premonitions as emotions, a gut feeling. Such as if something good is heading her way, or... simply something really wrong is going on. It mostly acts as a warning system for when something bad is about to happen. It can be something as subtle as a slight fear when someone's thinking about harming her, or veering on full on panic attack when being stalked by the big bad. It isn't too accurate at the moment, and that I mean it will only give her feelings directly related to what is to come, and that's just about it. However, this ability will get more accurate as time goes on until it borders on future-sense.
Psychic-Shield. Deborah can learn how to put up a mental shield around herself that will defend her against Cerebral powers. The kind of powers that would give them information about her. In the case of Telepaths/Empaths, they would simply be unable to read her. In the case of Precogs, she wouldn't appear in any visions, or if someone had a similar ability to her, they wouldn't get information from her.
HISTORY: When did it all go wrong? Well, Deborah started out the daughter of a Marine, along with two younger siblings, Jago and Aisha Termellio, and they were sent all over the United States as he was stationed in different places. It wasn't until he was injured during the war that they stopped and settled down in Philadelphia. They spent years there, and during this time, Deborah met a girl named Shannon. They became close friends, and eventually, lovers. In secret, they were inseparable. By then, Deborah discovered her power because she noticed Shannon's attraction to her. She came out about the power to Shannon, and she didn't think of her any different. Yet, they all agreed to keep secret about her power, in fear of the rising prejudices. As they grew up, they got closer and closer, until both of them came out as gay as hell. That didn't bode well, they were thrown out by their families, and then they got an apartment of their own. They engaged in greasy lesbian funtimes until the whole human race decided to abscond. Shannon had to leave, but Deborah couldn't go with her. That's when they parted ways, and Deborah cried herself to sleep for ages. Apathetic to the world as it slowly fell apart. Eventually, Deborah went on a journey. A journey to discover herself. She burned down the apartment complex that she used to live in to troll anyone taking residence there. She went from city to city, meeting strange and familiar people alike. She finally found herself, sobbing in a corner because of her great loss. But she continued.
Eventually, she came across one city, and met a strange... person. A person named Servitus Main. He was rebuilding a city, getting it nice and operational, along with other people. Deborah joined their organization, and helped build it up to the best of her abilities. Eventually, more and more people found them, and eventually, the need for a leader became painfully clear. Servitus Main was not leader material, Deborah was. She was elected to be the leader, and for years she lead them to become the finest. Building the city up to be a Utopia, and it felt great.
Then everything changed once the Fire Nation attacked.
OTHER:
NAME: Drake Deltori Blackmore
AGE: 33
GENDER: Starship-kun
APPEARANCE: A rugged and weary man, Drake has seen the worst of humanity - whether it's good or bad - and has come back worse for wear. He's far from the arrogant basketball player he used to be. Now, he's a weathered warrior, whether he's better or not. To get started, Drake is a man of average height (Aprox 5'11ft), and has a very strong, muscular build. He's the kind of guy that does a full body workout, and it shows in his physique. Strong arms and legs, sexy abs, broad shoulders and a big strong chest. And no ladies, he's taken. He weights 250lb, and that is just about right given his weight Drake's skin is a yellow-ish white color. Because he's mixed. Both Korean and British. Many may identify him as Asian because of his Asian-looking facial features, and eyes. But still has a bit of Caucasian in him. Drake's skin isn't exactly perfect. It's all the scars that he has. Scars from blades, scars from bullets, scars from energy. All sorts of bad shit happened to him. He managed to survive the impossible through sheer willpower (Actually badassery). Drake does have a few imperfections on his being. His teeth being quite crooked, and he's missing a few teeth too. The Blackmore family certainly got good genes, since Drake is quite handsome. The very looks he's inherited from his ancestors. Drake mostly has a determined look on his face, or a dead one. Now Drake's facial features are pointy, squared, and well defined. His head is rectangle shaped, and wide - His face is also quite wide. He has a sharp, strong jawline with a very bulky chin. He has a noticeable cleft chin. His cheeks are flat, and not very round at all. His nose has a short, narrow bridge, with two wide nostrils and a rounded tip. His forehead is large, and is wider than it is high. Drake has round medium sized ears, that are very round, and point inward. Because of his Asian-descents; Drake's eyes are slanted, a bit large, and are a pretty amber color. It's even more obvious that he is part Korean because of his eyes. Drake's hair is a black color, like the hair-color for the Blackmore family has been for generations. His hair is kept in a wild and unkempt style, and rarely gets anymore maintenance other than cleaning. Drake has a beard on his face. Massive, thick, busy, manly beard. Drake's body is also covered in manly body-hair as well.
PERSONALITY: Skipping this again.
POWERS: Power Embodiment. Like he usually is, Drake is from the Blackmore family, thus, he's a power-replicator. By touching another Meta-human with naked flesh, Drake will copy their power. It's not the usual kind of power replication. Whenever Drake does activate this ability, he'll start a start a transformation into an Embodiment of that power. His being will be infused with the power, and his body will appear to be made out of that power (His clothes will also be incorporated into a transformation). For example; if Drake touches an electricity type Meta-human, his entire body will be covered with lightning, as well as infused with it. Allowing him to shoot bolts of lightning while transformed. Drake's ability usually gives him a power that's unique to him in some ways. Because it mutates when Drake copies the power. Such as having an ability that the original does not - Or the inverse. It all depends. Generally Drake has monstrous fire-power. Drake can also selectively transform a part of his body, instead of transforming his whole being. Giving him access to the power at a smaller scale. It'll provide him with a bit of a situational advantage since selective transformations are much quicker than his entire body at once. It'll also serve as a stepping stone for a full transformation. Drake can hold at least one power at a time, and can use all of them at once if he wanted to.
HISTORY: Drake Blackmore was born into the Blackmore family - a group of Metahumans all with the ability to replicate powers. They kept their powers lowkey, given the animosity between humanity and inhumanity. It wasn't long until Drake discovered his own power, and put it to good use. He wanted humans and inhumans to co-exist, and so he attempted to fight evil mutants... and he got his ass kicked and had to be bailed out by his father. It escalated far beyond what anyone could ever have possibly imagined. And what a mess they made, when it all went wrong. By the time he was fifteen, the exodus happened, and inhumanity ruled. He was left alone with his family. That's when things spiraled downwards for Drake. The Blackmores tried to keep to themselves, but unfortunately they were hunted by other inhumans for their powers. They heard about Providence, and headed straight for it. On the way there, the entire Blackmore family was picked off one by one by their pursuers. Until it was all Drake, and he arrived there the day his father died... at a cost no man can ever bear. He went full Linkin' Park for a few days, before he became a constructive member of Providence. He helped forge their militia to defend against the Corners, and eventually became the head of it. Fighting off all evil Metahumans.
... Then everything changed once the Fire Nation attacked- but Drake didn't sweat it. Because he's the FUCKING AVATAR.
NAME: Darren, but he is now known to all as “Mr.Wildfire” AGE: He stopped aging, but he is in his thirties. GENDER: Male (?)
APPEARANCE: The organism which was once Darren Sharpe hardly resembles an organism anymore. Darren’s body consists of a humanoid shape made out of burning chips of wood. Body shape-wise, it resembles Darren’s former body, a man of average height who is slightly overweight. He is about six-and-a-half feet tall, but both his height and weight fluctuate violently. The debris itself is constantly burning, causing the inner layer of Darren’s body to glow red-hot like coals. He releases a wispy stream of smoke when not actively using his abilities. Darren’s eyes glow bright red, as does the inside of his mouth. His teeth glow a softer red. The core of Darren’s power is situated in his chest where his heart once was. There lies his inner-fire, a small, round core so hot that it burns blue. A similar ball of blue fire burns in the center of Darren’s head, which is more-or-less what’s left of his brain (how he still thinks has to do with information that would ruin the rp if I told you). Darren’s body is constantly burning, and when he is angry or uses his powers, the small fires all over his body expand, making him look less like a man made of wood and more like a giant fire.
PERSONALITY: There isn’t much of one left. Darren was once a fairly calm, but the process of turning into a giant fireball made him essentially go crazy. He is incredibly aggressive, almost constantly angry, and loses his temper quickly. He’s fairly unintelligent, reacting more on emotion than on reason. This causes Darren to be extremely dangerous and unpredictable, albeit somewhat dim. Darren isn’t “Evil”, per-say, he’s just got Hulk-esque anger issues and, with the right mind pushing him (ie Charon, who you’ll meet later), he can easily be turned into a killing machine.
POWER(S)/CUSTOM(S): They don’t call him Mr.Wildfire for nothing. Darren is a living fire. Essentially, his mutation caused an inner fire to form in his chest, a spot of white hot heat which quickly caused the rest of his body to burn up. In place of his flesh, Darren now has a body comprised primarily of wood and charcoal, which burns at about 260º Celsius (500F) at the surface when in resting condition, and when angry burns at around 537º Celsius (1000F). The inside of Darren’s body burns much hotter, and his core is a sweltering 2300º Celsius (4170 F). Not only is Darren hot, but he can project his heat offensively. Darren can blast fires from his fingertips that burn extremely hot, allowing him to scorch enemies or burn away obstacles. His fires have the capability to reach about 2000º Celsius (3100 F) at maximum energy, hot enough to melt most metals (though he can’t sustain a blast that hot). Darren’s body projects heat into the area around him, drying out wood and other flammables nearby. This causes his attacks to be extremely unpredictable and dangerous. Oftentimes, Darren’s fire attacks cause massive wildfires that skyrocket to insane temperatures, destroying everything around him. When Darren begins to run out of fuel, he can actually telekinetically draw wood and ash to himself, tearing it up in the process and adding it to his composite body. Since he’s made of burning wood, Darren is excellent at camouflaging himself amongst wildfires, and is nearly impossible to find in such situations unless he allows himself to be found (or unless you track his brainwaves).
In addition to this, Darren is incredibly durable. Because his body is composed entirely of wood held together by a telekinetic force, he can take quite a beating. Darren’s body has a knack for putting itself back together when he is physically damaged, making him more-or-less immune to physical attacks like swords, bullets, or explosions.
Now that you’re freaking out, time for weaknesses. According to the laws of stoichiometry, a fire needs three things to survive: oxygen, heat, and fuel. Considering that Darren is a giant living bonfire, he needs these three things to live.
Firstly, fuel. Darren consumes his own biomass constantly, meaning that he needs to replenish his supply. The hotter Darren burns, the more biomass he burns up and the closer to starving he gets. This means that the more Darren uses his power (as well as the hotter his fires are and the more sustained they are), the weaker he gets. He can replenish his stores by consuming combustible matter (which is telekinetically drawn to him), but if he runs out of fuel, he will die within minutes. This is why he avoids big cities and stays in the countryside, where he burns everything he finds to the ground and literally leaves a trail of ashes in his wake.
Secondly, heat. Darren’s most obvious weakness is the thing which kills a fire: water. When I say “water”, however, I don’t mean “pour a bucket on him”. I mean, “drop that sunnovabitch in the ocean and run away.” Darren burns so hot that, in a fight, rainfall and small quantities of water are useless against him; they evaporate before they can harm him. Dropping Darren in a large body of water or spraying him with fire-extinguishing chemicals, however, is a different story. If Darren is placed in a large body of water, he will die almost instantly, and fire extinguishing chemicals both immobilise and kill him. If Darren’s fire goes out, he will just collapse into a pile of wood chips.
Thirdly, oxygen. Darren’s fires often burn so hot that they suck up all of the oxygen in an area, depriving whatever’s inside. This causes Darren to move towards the edge of a large fire often, but if he’s cornered, he can run out of oxygen and die. He can also be smothered, but that is probably too tall of an order to be considered practical.
Physically, Darren has two weak spots: his brain and his core. Both are glassy orbs which radiate intense heat, and both control Darren and keep him alive. If either is destroyed, Darren is a dead man. They’re very well-defended, however, and are difficult to hit, especially considering that the most common place to find Darren is in the middle of a wildfire.
HISTORY: Darren Sharpe was born in Baltimore. He was a pretty normal guy, a peaceful and introverted kid who didn’t have many friends growing up. He was quite intelligent, always one of the top people in his class, but his shyness often ostracized him from others. When he was thirteen, he discovered that he was a metahuman, capable of creating and manipulating fire. For a while, this was great fun, and he used his powers frequently, entertaining people and acting like a universal lighter. He became quite popular all of a sudden. Then one day in Darren’s freshman year of college, he woke up to find that his dorm room was on fire. There was a burning hole in his chest, and he watched as his bedposts disintegrated and filled the hole in his chest.
He was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital’s ER, where he was directed to their Metahuman Medicine department. They attempted to treat him, but the mere presence of Darren in a normal ER room deprived of flammables would cause doctors’ hair to burn and would blow windows out. He was transferred to a secure facility made of concrete, where he was studied as if he were a science project. He quickly became half-wood half-flesh, and the flesh he had was badly burned. Skin grafts did nothing. After a while, Darren decided to leave. The doctors didn’t want him to, and he began to feel as if he were about to receive the “experimented on by evil mad scientists” backstory.
So he killed them. He didn’t mean to initially. He tried very hard not to, in fact, but when they tried to keep him from leaving, he got so angry that he set the lab on fire and escaped out of a window. Three scientists died in the flames, and Darren was on the loose. He tried to go back to a normal life, but he simply could not. He got so angry all of the time, and his former friends now wanted nothing to do with him. What’s worse, the fire was soon traced back to him, and the police had a warrant for his arrest. He became a famous criminal, dubbed “Wildfire” by the media. He became responsible for several arsons and murders, once even burning down an entire city block. He couldn’t steal much because he burned money to the touch, and he had no reason to be hired because he didn’t need money or food or shelter to survive. After Darren blew up several cop cars, a vigilante known as The Watcher decided to take him down. He blew a fire extinguisher up in Darren’s face, and he was knocked unconscious, rendered unable to manipulate his fire. He was locked up in a secure, fireproof room in a local psychiatric hospital/prison, where he was treated for his severe anger issues. By this time, his body was entirely wood, so medicine would not work on him. After he was in the asylum for about a year, he was rescued by the supervillain Charon, who freed the metas in the asylum and let them loose on the world. It was about this time that the humans abandoned their planet, and Darren celebrated their defeat by burning down the city of Baltimore.
He had several more run-ins with The Watcher, as did his partners in the Desperados, but after The Watcher was killed, Darren was free to roam America, discovering the great forests and amber waves of grain and then burning them to the ground.
OTHER: Darren’s favorite wood to eat is Mesquite. He always liked Mexican food.
APPEARANCE: Jin stands at 5'10" and weighs around 165 pounds. His hair is black, but shaven bald. He has a rather attractive face. A squarish jaw, evenly spread facial features, a happy resting face and lovely olive skin hinting at his Asian descent. His build is easily athletic, lean and muscular like a trained acrobat. His eyes lack irises, but this doesn't affect his eyesight at all it seems. His mouth and nose are usually covered by a rebreathing apparatus, to assist him when he re-acclimates to his environment after coming out of one of his portals. He usually wears dark, comfortable clothing but isn't opposed to dressing up, just like he was taught. He can be seen wearing his signature slim-fit coat, with its twin coat-tails like the shell of a beetle. Its sleeves end in cuffs that crawl halfway up his forearm, complete with rusty iron cufflinks. The coat is decorated with a reflective hexagonal grid that shines out from the iridescent blue material. Beneath that is a skintight gray shirt, a lot like a diving suit. His black 'wet-look' pants are tight, and cling to his legs and groin to show off his toned form. Upon his feet are what can only be described as 'knee-high military wrestling boots'. Laced up to the shin and folded over, these tough leather numbers are perfect for treading the battlefield in style. He is the epitome of high fashion. PERSONALITY: Slow, ponderous, easygoing. Just wants to have fun and be cool. POWER(S)/CUSTOM(S): Portal Manipulation: Jin is able to mentally project an energy which has similar effects to that of a wormhole, of which the shape and size are variable. He is unable to transport anything bigger than, say, a standard semi-truck without the trailer. Portals can be thrown some distance as well as invert the orientation which those entering, exit. Going in walking could have you coming out upside-down. Jin is not immune to these orientation changes, just aware of them. HISTORY: Jin lives out of a rundown estate with his parents, who are also mutants. They are gripped by the delusion that they are the 'aristocratic remnants' of what used to be, unaware that they are essentially squatting in a shared delusion, living out of an empty estate. He was raised to be a 'superior child'. To carry on the family legacy and bring the Saito name honor in his every day life. He was a calm and quiet kid, with little restrictions when it came to what he wanted and what he got. If his parents could get it, he got it.
He's the spoiled rich kid, without the riches. He's otherwise just a mellow dude who does what he wants, when he wants. Having a good time is priority number one to him. Not much else to him.
