Haut is a man that doesn’t have exactly the matching stature of his position, but a reputation that makes up for all that. He stands at 5 feet, 7 inches, or roughly 1.7 meters. HIs body is slightly toned, but nothing that stands out, with scars adorning it all. Even if he dislikes how much it stands out, Haut tends to wear his white Chief's uniform, as it is much cooler than the standard greys and dark colors of the rest of the Wallmenders.
Biography
Haut was raised among one of the more politically important families among Vextrik, next in line to take his father’s sacred seat among the Council, but Haut was destined for other things than his family intended. Once, when he was a young boy, Haut stood beside his father and the Wallmender Chief of the time, watching the ritual of the “Shift Change” as they called it. Men and women of all creeds and races uniformly left the wall, in a ceremony that few got to see, handing off their weapons, and for some, good luck charms and trinkets, to the new set of Wallmenders that were set to take the wall. Ever since that day, Haut had been infatuated with the Wallmenders
Haut studied hard in his histories and sciences, and never slacked in his physical education either, preparing for the day he would be able to call himself a true Wallmender. His peers always questioned his effort that he put forward in his teachings, noting that he had nothing to do but to graduate by the skin of his teeth, and he would be guaranteed a secure job for the rest of his life. That, he announced, was not good enough for him, and he wanted to be more than some lazy politician. He wanted to be the line of protection between Humanity and anything that wished to harm it, not sitting on the council, making decisions for other people that wouldn’t even matter if they all died.
His father wasn’t particularly excited for his son to be a simple Soldier, as he had always planned to give his son his sacred seat on the council. Eventually, after a bit of prodding and pleading, Haut’s father finally gave him his blessing to be a Wallmender, opting instead to pass of his seat for Haut’s newborn sister, Mika.
When he finally became of age, Haut quickly made his way to the office of recruitment, and applied to be a Wallmender. With some good test scores, and a little bit of influence from his politician father, Haut had been accepted to basic training. Now, to work towards achieving his ultimate dream.
The training was hard, drilling day in and day out, practicing scaling the wall, how to do basic first aid and to treat broken bones, loading and loading all the different guns on the wall, training how to be every clan, even if they weren’t going to join them. Once the basics were learned, time for more specialized clan training came. Haut choose to join the famed Eagle clan, putting his smarts and aptitude to work. Also, working with smaller scale and less strength, Metal Monkey and Gunny clans didn’t as well with him. Haut walked the thinnest edges of the walls, practiced marksmanship with marksman rifles and large laser rifle, and acclimated himself to the high peaks that he would utilize during his work as an Eagle.
After many months of grueling training passed, Haut had finally achieved what he always wanted. He could officially call himself a Wallmender, and he had the patches and stripes to prove it. As he began, there was always something new for him to learn about the wall. Where it’s weaknesses were, where he could sit or lay comfortably, which spots had the best visibility through the forest, and which had the best shade from the sun. He served time on the cool, forest wall sections, and served grueling time on the wall sections that were stranded out in the badlands. It was fun at first, but as time went on and years dragged by, going home to a boring city life, and to the wall to more backbreaking work. The respect he received from the citizens became less and less the more he returned home, drawing him back to the wall, who’s tiring work and lack of action pushed him back towards the city. After long, Haut’s life became a drab and depressing, and completely opposite of what he had dreamt of as a kid.
How he became Chief is a blur, to really even Haut himself. The current chief died, and it seemed Haut was the only one willing to take charge of the whole operation. Anything to get off the wall, and away from city.
Other: Haut’s sister, Mika, is currently moving through the political ranks, and is a fairly important person he is pledged to protected.
