The young man, disheveled and clearly frustrated, threw aside a box of potentially breakable items. His girlfriend wasn't home, shopping he assumed, and he had been trying to attempt a new deal while packing for their trip. Very few things ever had the power to bother Kain as much as he was now, breath billowing in hot steam even in the warm room, off coloured eyes intense and unfocused, long black locks messy and unkempt. His tie was missing and the top button of his shift undone, jacket tossed on the bed stripped bare. They were leaving in a matter of hours, headed home to Japan, and they'd almost made it safe too. Somehow, most likely his twin sister, Shimura had found out about his bringing of a girl home. His older brother. The bane of his existence. New he was bringing Hikari home. That devil of a human had been able to weasel his way into any girl picked for him, cleaning taking her away before he'd even had a chance. Kairi didn't stand a chance against his charm and he could just cancel so last minute. It would break her heart to have to stay, since they were bringing her and Valentine with them to the festival. Kain had even gone as far as to invite Hikari's older sister with them.

Fortunately, the box had spilled over to reveal books. Hikari had been returning home with a few last minute things that she believed they might need on the plane. She had unlocked the door and wondered how Kain was doing. He had been a bit more reserved than usual that morning, but it was nothing too out of the ordinary. Her sister, Kaori, called her a few minutes prior to ask where they were to meet up in the airport at what time. She was really excited when she found out that Kain had invited her sister to come with them, thinking they were finally starting to get along.

She walked into their bedroom and was surprised to find Kain in the state he was in. "K-Kain?! Are you ok? What happened?!" She set her stuff down and rushed over to see if there were any wounds or something.

Kain was uninjured as far as could tell, just annoyed and upset over something. The door opened while Kain was leaning over the bathroom sink, having slashed cold water over his face to help him calm down. The worried squeal of Hikari seeing him sent a shiver down his spine, shamed spiking through his body. The demon had never been seen like this by his Match in the year since they'd first met in the Match Office with her mother. The pain of a woman had spent the last year changing her daughters match, but Kain had never let the new boys close enough to take her.

"Family business."

He answered her question, quick and curt, fingers wrapped around the edge of the counter hard enough to break the granite. Her fingers flitted over him in a way that made him want to calm down but the very idea of Shimura being touched like this by her infuriated him even more.

She wasn't sure what was wrong. She was a mixture of worried and surprised. She hadn't seen him so vulnerable looking. It was a slight reassurance that he was still at least somewhat comfortable with letting part of his guard down with her...even if she had to catch him instead of him actually being open with her. She pouted at his reason. "...I'm assuming you don't want to talk?" She gave him a bit of space when he started to tense up under her touch.
