I've avoided your knee and continued the axe kick. Unless you're stating that in the time Johnny dodges with a simple backwards hop and brings his leg back down for the kick, that An can recover and counter?

Hoping back while trying to execute the axe kick is a weaker point of attack since your power base has shifted and you are trying to reestablish it while continuing the kicking action down. Balance is compromised.

Try it and see how easy it is to be toppled.

You did a short, diagonal hop that will land An just to Johnny's right. Unless you're telling me that in the span of Johnny taking a hop back, landing and bringing his raised foot down, An can counterattack? That's about a second or two and he's spending that time landing and recovering first.

From what I read, if Johnny did hop back, I doubt he would move quicker then An before An closed the distance again. Judging form the amount of distance he was when it started and from the average stride of someone his height. (this is not taking into account how the gravity change would effect things.)
