What I want to do with Andrew's transformation is that he can easily change towards his canine form, even subconsciously, but he has a hard time going back towards human.

well it was supposed to be something he did without thinking. I thought it would be interesting if his adrenaline seems to make him change in the beginning when he couldn't fully control it.
