Physical Description:
She is a small girl and certainly not one of an intimidating physical figure. What muscle she does have is not the kind that is developed through desired and aesthetic reasons it is fibrous and sinewy not hard and well defined. Her hair is a wispy affair that refuses to stay down and is maintained by a tight and short ponytail. One who pays close attention when she smiles could notice that her teeth are crooked not terribly but noticeable enough to draw attention. Her eyes have a surprising amount of confidence to them, confidence that only comes through living and not much else.

Clothing & Style:
Her clothing style is charchtertized by clothing that really does not fit her. Due to her family’s economic circumstances they couldn't go buying clothes everyday and resorted to hand me downs and things picked from the rubbish bins. A style that some would describe as construction worker attire consistent variations of work boots, some sort of blue jeans, and a flannel shirt of some color. Though her defining article would probably be a red and black windbreaker, a gift it has seen its use and is dependable if a bit rundown by this point.

----------- Personality -----------
Self Description:

  • Courageous
  • Sociable
  • Self Dependent
  • Kind
  • Quick Thinking

Other's Description:

  • Rash
  • Impulsive
  • Tempermental
  • Book Dumb
  • Naive

Hobbies/Interests:
Farah’s hobbies come mostly from having to entertain herself and things that allow her to stay as far away from home for as long as possible. These include Urban exploration usually foraging about for plants and other interesting tidbits and nicknacks anything somebody else may have abandoned that she may find interesting or “cool”. Her older brother also taught her how to play the guitar though she is pretty bad at it and when at home she likes making little origami animals in her room. That and she runs a lot simply because with no bike or car it is quicker than walking. She ain’t the fastest but she can go the distance.

Motivations/Dreams/Goals:
Farah ideas for goals and dreams is rather mundane when you break it down. Whenever her brother would come home he would tell her stories of the world and she became enthralled with it. She is enthusiastic about the idea of the world, this idea that there is so much out there and yet she is stuck where she is. She just wants to get out there to be free to able to go wherever she wants and she’ll do anything to try and get this idea of freedom.

----------- Interview Questions -----------
Question 1:“You washed up on a deserted tropical island, alone. Right beside you is a box, what’s inside the box?”
”A deserted tropical island? Sounds kind of nice when you really think about it? Beach, sun, water and you can do whatever you want? A box? Is it some kind of present? Oh... well if it is a present than it is probably nothing. We can’t afford any presents.”

Question 2:“The world has gone in the way of monsters, fire and brimstone is falling on earth. What is your plan for survival?”
”Monsters? Oh well this is a lot less fun than the tropical island. I would... scanavage across the land getting food and stuff, get some allies and then stab them! You know like all those action heroes in my brother’s comic books!

Question 3:“Who is/are the people you will go to/for in case of an emergency. Why them?”
”An emergency? The police or the fire department right? That’s who you are supposed to call right?”

Question 4:“You have been tasked to do something important far beyond your capabilities. Doing said task will have severe consequences to you, but it will also greatly benefit others. Would you do said task?”
”Sure! Consequences or whatever they don’t really matter as long as I can get out of here and do something. Beside if somebody is telling you to do it and its going to help a lot of people that means it gotta be important!”

Question 5:“You are hiding in your shelter fit for one person that will last months to escape a nuclear disaster. Outside of the door is someone you hate asking for help. Who is that person, and will you allow them inside?
”Outside the shelter is.... my Mom. I..I wouldn't let her inside because she abandoned us once and I’m not stupid enough to let her do it again!

Question 6:“It is the middle of the night and you hear a knocking at the door. You look outside and see that it is a stranger. They are asking to come inside to seek shelter. Will you let them in?
”No, nope nadda, not even once! Do I look like an idiot or something to ya? Invite one stranger into your house and they become a crazy serial killer wanting to eat you or something I don’t know.”

Question 7:“Someone you love is dying, the cure is at the hands of someone who will never give it to you. What will you do save your beloved?”?
”I would try and steal it from them, because if I was able to just grab it they wouldn't be able to catch me!”

Question 8:“Someone who has wronged you is at the hands of your mercy, their future is in your hands. What do you want to do to them? What will be your judgement?
”I wouldn't want to kill em, I mean that sounds a bit harsh don’t you think? So maybe banish them to like antarctica or something. And if they wronged me? Well yeah I think I would definitely banish them. They already wronged me once what says they won’t do it again?”

Question 9:“You have just been granted a chance to do whatever you wish with no consequences whatsoever, the effects will be permanent. What will you do?”
”I would get as far away from her possible to somewhere awesome.”

Question 10:“There is no one around you. You are lost, exhausted, starving, thirsty, and there is no light at the end of the tunnel. On your hand is a pill, if you swallow will make you fall asleep, dream of happy times, and die a peaceful death. Would you take the pill or move forward?”
”I would move forward. My dad before mom died always had a saying you know? He said, “There are times you shall be thrown into the fire of adversity. At these times you can either jump out and get burned or stay in the fire and let it shape you, let it make you stronger.” So yeah I gotta sit in that fire.”

----------- Skills & Talents -----------
Name:
Cordwainer

Origins:
Her father before her mother died was fairly successful cordwainer or as most people would know it a shoemaker or more specifically he ran a shoe repair shop. As he began to drink more and more Farah was forced to pick up the slack and started helping repair some of the shoes she has a fairly decent understanding of the process.[

Plans:
Shoemaking is a versatile process and the skills involved beside just making shoes learning how to patch things up, make shoes, work with leather. It has its uses especially in the apocalypse beside who does’nt needs shoes?

Applications:
Shoes are pretty rad and leather working and minimal knowledge of sticking helps on an occasion.

Thoughts On:
”I mean it's pretty stupid isn’t it? Shoe repair why repair your old dirty shoes when you can just buy some new ones? Dad seems to like it though... I kind of wonder why. You get all dirty and the curing chemicals for the leather makes you cough a lot and makes your eyes water.”

----------- Background -----------
Family & Friends:

  • Mother: Deceased
  • Father: Shoe Repairman, occasional missionary and more recently semi-functional alcoholic
  • Brother: Older by ten years, war reporter that got hired out a lot for freelance work.

Home & Lifestyle:
Farah and her father live within their three bedroom house that was more often than not littered with crushed beer cans and empty bottles. It was a small one floor dwelling but it served its purpose well enough. Farah would occasionally go to school but more often than not she would have to stay home rose her father from his druken stupor and hand guide him through his morning procedure and make sure that he opened the shop. Somedays when he was feeling good she would leave but those days were rare most days she worked in the back fixing up old shoes and helping set the molds for new ones. She would then come home, sleep and do it all again.

Defining Character Moment:
Her mother’s death when she was ten years old. Before that their life was almost pleasant and nice but when she died that all changed when her dad began to drink very heavily to cope with the grief and she was forced to become the “adult” to make sure her dad didn't drink himself to death.

History:
The younger of two children of the resultant chance encounter between two relief workers in East Africa. Farah’s life was okay for the first ten years, she grew up and went to school her parents got along and she was a pretty okay student. Her parents were generally accepting people. Her brother was almost never home having moved out to New York City. Though when he did return he always brought home items and trinkets for his journeys all across the globe. This incited Farah’s wish to travel the world at a young age. A desire that only became stronger and stronger as her own home life fell apart. He acted as a big inspiration and driving force in her life. Things changed of course as time progressed and it was found out that her mother had a Astrocytoma Grade IV primary tumor whose aggressive nature would eventually lead to her death. As stated her father turned to drinking soon after to cope, becoming dependent and only semi-functional half of the bright eyed, smart and intellegent best friend that he used to be to his daughter. This forced Farah to grow up quicker than most and develop issues of abandonment and a hatred towards her mother for not just dying but for “taking her dad away”.

Last Moments:
Things were relatively quiet as they usually were. Her brother had called earlier and given her some few last words of wisdom and her father had passed out hours before from another drinking binge. It left Farah alone really with her thoughts and nothing else.

----------- Personal Equipment/Belongings -----------

  • Shoe Repair kit (Contains some tools for basic stitching and leather working as required.) All easily bundled up for travel.
  • Her Red and Black Windbreaker
  • An Old Cigarette Lighter
  • Entrenching Tool

----------- Other IC Information -----------
“The world began without man, and it will end without him.”
~ Claude Levi-Strauss

----------- OOC Data/Writer's Info -----------
Why do you, the writer, think your character was chosen?:
I think that Farah was chosen for reasons of pure tenacity at this point. She is naive and not wise about much of the world as some and she has trouble following orders, and dependency issues all may be but she’s shown through the situation with her father the ability to be able to learn new and important skills and be able to push through the worst on her own. That and her own skills would make her a useful addition to most times.

What are some plot lines that you want to see in the story?
Have you watched the New Mad Max Movie? You know the quote at the end, “Where must we go, we who wander this wasteland, in search of our better selves.”. I would kind of like to see that idea explored how in this place of despair and death how people adapt and become better. You know addressing this with some big moral dilemma or something like that. I like that idea of trying to be force between preserving our humanity or preserving ourselves.

Where do you physically want to take your character in the US?
All over I guess. I’m kind of excited to see how the world had been changed by the celestial impact on a ground level.

What do you plan to do with your character once he/she is the story?
You know that thing I said earlier about Standing in the Fire? Well I guess those could be described as the arc words within Farah’s character arc. To continually put her through an array of situations that push her to the limit and see if she can stay true to her father’s wishes and become stronger or breakdown. To test the limits of our own perceived ideals and our own willingness to do better than ourselves.

What is the eventual future of your characters and what kind of role will they fulfill?
I guess in a good ending of sorts she would become a craftsman of sorts an experienced leatherworker and hunter able to provide for the group and eventually the new world helping them make it one step closer to the future. In a bad ending she would fail, she would pull back from the fire instead of facing it and get burned and probably broken in the process.

What's the future of your character? What kind of things do you want to see them experience?
I guess hardship right? That’s the problem with most Post-Apoc RPs on the site they say they are Post-Apocalyptic, they say it is about surival and then their just aren't any stakes, they never run low on food, they never are forced to do morally ambiguous things. Their values aren't forced into question except when the plot demands it. I guess I just want it to actually be hard for her so that if she does make it out the other side it feels like it was earned and not bestowed.
