The Federation of Lamorian States (or just Lamor)

Pre-Colonial Description

"The state of Lamora is a rocky place, a harsh environment for a harsh people. It is a land of contradictions and traditions, its mountains giving way to plains, its rocky capital surrounded by forests as well as grasslands. But most of all in all of its roughness, there is beauty." - Eclesiarcus "A Study of The kingdoms of Osteria, page 5 above map, written C. 1247

Located just slightly north of the center of Osteria, Lamor is a land of mainly green rolling foothills, grass plains and deciduous forests. These stretch out for near as far as the eye can see, until their terminus in the south when the gentile rolling hills give way to the Crag mountain range, which curve slightly along their path in Lamor around the small plain which holds the capital city of Sarasloc. Due to the mountains trapping moisture, it seems that rain across Lamor (with the notable exception of the north) is not a question of if, it is a question of when.

Lamor began life as a small early settlement, named Lamor, from one of the Empires of Antiquity. It was originally used mainly for wood and food, resources that helped fund the empires expansion outwards. For most of the Empire's existence Lamor remained peaceful with political unrest uncommon within the province. However from what texts Lamorian scholars can recover it seems that while political unrest was uncommon, it seems that social unrest was a constant flavor of life, with one ancient text stating "Even as the faith of our empire swelled to consume the lesser faith of it's fringes and even it surrounding cultures, those of Lamorian decent remained true to their four gods and goddesses, and any attempt to stamp this out has been met with an unexpected level of resistance." With this account's mentioning of the Four gods and goddesses, this is usually considered the first mentioning of the Lamorian religion of Kalrise.

When the empire collapsed, it seemed to bring the rest of the region, as well as most of the world with it and Lamor was no exception. As the great dark age deepened the former imperial province fractured into five parts, the Western March Lands, the eastern lands of Mesora, the northern coast lands of Gorgora, and what was once the capitol lands of Lamorra. With this separation infighting became common between the five former countrymen, with it growing worse with each passing decade few expected to find any unifying factor between them, yet one remained in play here as much as it did in the waning days of the Empire, that as different as they were all of Lamor refused to give up their gods of old. A factor that brought them into conflict with the primary church of Osteria and eventually led to the "Lamorian inquisition and penitent crusade" in the 1300's. It was not a quick victory as the church had hoped, with the battles quickly becoming mires of death and the inquisition killing more than it was "saving", the only thing they accomplished was turning near the whole of Lamor against the church and driving them further into the arms of their traditional religion. This went on for years until 1312 when the Church finally conceded and drew out of Lamor leaving "The Heathens to their land" as one crusader wrote.

However, even though they had produced a unified front against the church, Lamor would remain divided until 1422 and the birth of Sarin Novak, or Sarin The Unifier. Sarin was a low ranking noble born in the lands of Lamorra, withing the walls of the capitol that at that time shared the same name. As he grew, there was little to make note of save for his betrothal to a young noble woman named Sara. As popular myth holds it was in 1440, when Sara was killed by West March agents while Sarin was away from the capitol with their son Verin. When he returned home, Sarin was distraught and killed the captured agents on the spot before rallying his house forces to make a suicide assault at Wast March. However, as the myth goes, this suicide attack was joined by forces from all over Lamorra, till Sarin had at his side a great host. Battles raged on throught that march till 1437, whn the march bowed to Sarin, who turned his eyes to the remaining three factions of Lamor. However only one other had to fall through conquest, with the others giveing up willingly to spare themselves the great host. With Lamor unified Sarin returned home and took for himself the crown of the now unified country, renaming its capitol to "Sara's place", which was shortened to Saraloc. He died in 1489 alone in bed, with a smile on his face. He was succeed by Verin, from whom the modern Novaks are decedent from.

With the advent of the age of sail Lamor began to make a name for itself across the world, establishing layover and trade ports at certain locations throughout the route from Osteria to Feresia. None of these grew to enough import to warrant full colonies and instead as the technology of sea travel improved, were abandoned or became mainly staging points for Lamorian interests in the Feresia region.

All this changed however in 1894 when the ruling body of Lamor at the time was approached by a foreigner dressed in a Lamorian military uniform. This Tanraíl III, as he introduced himself, sought assistance in reuniting his country of Celocombo under his rule. Seeing this as an opportunity to expand their interests in the region, most within the government voted to help the young monarch and temporarily gifted him with four large scale detachments from the main military body. With the victory Lamor pulled the vast majority of its forces out of Celocombo to forts across Feresia, with Fort Mercer being packed with troops due to its location being closest to Celocombo. Yet it should be noted that a small number of solders stayed at the request of the now Raja as mainly as small peacekeeping force as well as guards for the Lamorian tradesmen and ambassadors. But As the years went on most were rotated away, being re-tasked in the motherland to deal with problems in Osteria and around the world.

All that changed with the Insserection and the slaughter of most of the dignitaries, their families, and the few soldiers now stationed in Celocombo. As an immediate response, most warships in the area were pulled to blockade the rebels coastal towns and begin bombardments up and down the blockade. As this continuous shelling progressed, troops were funneled into the capitol of Celocombo for immediate deployment. The victory was decisive and relatively quick, however one of the generals could not control his men in an amazing (and now infamous) show of incompetence that preceded what is now called Rape of Balangas. Needles to say that when he was brought before a military tribunal his punishment was fittingly brutal and final.

Still the damage had been done and Celocombo closed herself to her once friend, seizing all Lamorian assets within the country as well. A move that did not sit well with the government at the time, most of whom were still on a slight warpath, and soon the order had gone out to all frontier forces to go into a full mobilization state. At the same time large elements of the main army body were being brought in from Osteria, along with new ships and weapons. They were able to make two mass landings and smash the backbone of the battle tested Celocomboian army as they hammered their way to the capitol. When the Lamorian forces stormed into the city they marched their way to the palace where they disposed of Tanraíl and placed his cousin on the throne, who signed the Concordat a few weeks later, securing Lamor a colony and resource base in Feresia. An affair generally remembered as "Tidy"

Current Description

[center]It might be said that all countries bear scars from the world war, a statement that rings true for Lamor even now in the dawn of 1961. But with those scars fading slowly Lamor is once more free to turn its attention inward to itself and outward to Celocombo, which as of late the now colony has become less of a source of resources and money, and more of a source of continued influence in the region and a source of continued fascination on the part of some of the governmental bodies of Lamor.

In Osteria Lamor has begun to grow in its post-industrial state, with various new technologies being researched or even moving into prototype sates as more focus is being moved to them over the demand of raw resources and manufacturing. Though they are still not progressing as fast as most would like, with their main battle rifle (The Auto Carbine 223) being a simple reverse engineering job of a superior fascist rifle, with updates and Lamorian twists of course (It should be noted that most Lamorian infantry like the AC-223 as it is a very reliable and durable weapon that can operate in even the most unpleasant conditions with very little chance of jamming).

But with the winds of discontent blowing steadily in from the colony, whisperings have begun among the populous about what actions will be taken within the colony to settle it and re-secure it. But as of yet the main body of the Lamorian government has remained oddly mute on the subject, but is expected to take a stance soon. Especially with the recent massacre that transpired under the colonial governments watch, with rumors in both Celocombo an the mainland going around of possible official (or non official as the case may be) punishments for those responsible that has even the highest ranking magistrate sweating.

But fir niw it seems that the governments attention is fully on the fallout from the Blight, a disease that ripped through a portion of Lamor's crops in the previous harvest year. It was quickly found and all tainted crops irradiated to stop its spread, but the damage had been done, resulting in higher than normal prices, slight shortages and small scale demonstrations in certian areas of Lamor.

I expressed interest a while ago, so here I am.

May I please have a Colony Role?

I was thinking of having a country that was beaten in battle by a major power and turned into a satellite.
