As the sun's ray heated and scorched the road Gerlad felt that it would be a long day."Damn I always pick the wrong day to go somewhere.I could have stayed in that inn another night."With this he kicked a small piece of stone meters away."How can one possibly go anywhere this hot?"Soon he spotted a green patch on the horizon.The forest was still miles away but he was alreay happy that a goal emrged.It was as simple as getting into the shadows to get some rest.After all he was a hunter,not a merchant to travel miles.Gerald braced himself and began the LONG walk ahead of him.

Ambrosia was slightly bothered by the hear, but did not complain. She was used to something, the heat was just a minor bother to the woman. After all, she had trained in the burning sun with her father many days, it was nothing she wasn't used to. Of course it wasn't pleasant neither, but she would manage. After all, the forest was close and there, there were many places where she could cool down and drink a bit in the shadows of the trees.

After and hour of walking the forest still seemed miles away."What a bother!Geez I am not gonna make it at this pace till my brain boils.I should take a break" Gerald sat down next to a bush to partially cover his body from the sun.He started searching for his canteen.He found it with a big "owww" as the hot metal touched his hands.He took a sip from the boiling hot water but gave up on it the same second. "Ah this sucks.Anyways I should move on.The more I walk the faster i get into the forest,and the faster I can get some rest." With this he sqeezed the swaet out of his neckerchief and then started to walk again.

Ambrosia kept walking, not even considering taking a break as an option until she had at least reached the forest. She was very capable of managing that, and she would be a disappointment to both herself and her father if she didn't even manage such a simple thing. There were far worse things she would have to endure on her way.

Few hours later the forest seemed so close Gerald could felt he could to touch it.He was exhausted from the long walk and really wanted to cool off.This walk could have been nothing as a matter of distance,but the heat made it a painful agony.So the last 100 meter is last and Gerlad just seemed so happy about it.He wanted nothing more than to feel the chill of teh forest.To drink some cold water from a fountain.To look at the squirrels and deers.And he wanted a decent boar meal too.

Once the witch had arrived at the forest, she made herself comfortable in the shadow of a tree, resting against it with her back. She took out her flask and drank a bit from it, wanting to make sure not to get dehydrated with this kind of weather. Once she had rested a little and drank enough, the woman would get up and going again, but for now, it was just nice to be able to catch a break for the moment.

Once in the safety of the forest Gerald felt like home.He grew up in the forest so he knew what to do in a forest to survive.First of all he sat down under a big oak tree and drank some water.He enjoyed the small breeze coming from the hills.It was a truly peace and relaxing enviroment.He sat there for a few minutes.Then he readied his bow and went off the beaten path to search for a meal.

Ambrosia looked up when she heard the sound of rustling leaves, getting up carefully and placing a hand on the handle of her sword, ready to strike if needed. If it was an animal, she wouldn't hesitate to kill the being. If it wasn't a threat, than it was still possible that the creature was an edible one and than she could eat it later. Either way, an animal meant more to her dead than alive. If it was a humanoid creature, than she would just have to make sure that they had no bad intentions.

Gerald was carefully chasing after a boar for minutes now.He wanted the to wait for the right moment to strike.The boar stopped and started to ruffle in a bush.Suddenly it started to listen.Gerlad went closer to see what it was doing.There was a young woman on the other side of the bush,hand on a sword.What is a woman doing here all alone?Her sword did look like a well forged one thought,meaning she had at least some skills.He suddenly realised the boar was about to charge.It doesn't matter how good is somone at that range a tuskboar is faster than your reaction.Gerlad put an arrow onto the string from his quiver and shot the beast as it started running.

Ambrosia had drawn her sword once she had noticed the boar, not planning in having it kill her. Even if it was a dangerous, wild animal, she sure that she could handle this. She was skilled with her sword, she had learned from the best. There was no way an animal was going to be the cause of her death. However, it seemed that she didn't need to defend herself, as thr creature was hit by an arrow and dropped dead. "Show yourself." The woman said to whoever it was that had killed the thing, not going to take any risks.

"Take it easy.First of all put that sword away.I mean no harm." Gerald watched the woman still holding her sword's hilt in fron of the boar.She didn't know where was he,but he quickly climbed to an overhanging branch,just to be careful. "Geez,I just saved your life.You should be more thankful"

"I don't trust people who hide themselves like rats." Ambrosia answered, not planning on putting her sword away before being convinced that she was really safe. For all she knew, the man could be lying and killing her as soon as she let her guard down. She wasn't stupid enough to let that happen to her.

"What a pain you are.You scared my dinner and now you are calling me a rat?"I saved your life.How dare you call me names" gerlad jumped down from the branch and pushed through the vegatation where the woman could see her. "The name's Gerald.Gerald Doe.Now if I may know th name of the one who insulted me?"

"My name is Ambrosia Wicker and I am perfectly able to kill such a pathetic animal myself, self claimed saver of the damsel who was not so much in distress." Ambrosia answered, looking at the man. Ejt was he Mad at her? It wasn't her fault that the boar tried to attack her.

"Yeah sure I'll leave you to think that.I grew up in the forset after all,how should I know." With that he got his knife out of the pocket and went to the boar. "Do you mind?" With that he started to skin the animal and putting the fur away to sell it. "If you want i can invite you to a nice boar roast.It seems this is gonna be my dinner"

"Growing up in the forest means you learn about animals but not about people you fool. So unless you know who I am and how I was raised, you have not a damn clue about how lethal I am and what I am capable of." The woman threw back at him, putting her sword back at its sheathe and sitting down underneath the tree again.

"I was talking about the animal.I have seen tuskboars take down trained soldiers in full armor.But I guess for a young lady with probably less experience than them,could easely take down a tuskboar.You know what?I have a bet for you" Gerald puts away his knife, finished skinning it,and putting the meat inside a hunting bag. "If you can cut down the tip of my arrow,mid flight,you will convince me that you didn't need my help.Any other way and you would have propbably died.Bet?"

"Oh please. I don't have to prove myself to anyone, and especially not to you." Ambrosia answered,not bothering to look at the man. Why should she hunt after his arrows? She had better things to do with her life than proving her worth to him.

"Is that so?It seems you are afraid.After all you are just a young woman." Gerald put his backpack on and put his bow back on his back "I highly doubted that you could do it.But you ran away.How could you possibly do it?Unless you are a witch" Gerald let out a laughter and started to pull the carcass into the woods,not to attract anything bigger than the boar itself.

"You should know better than to use the name of witches to mock someone. They are capable of things far beyond your imagination. If anything, you should respect them." Was the only thing Ambrosia said to the man, seeing no need to waste her time by telling the man that she wasn't afraid of him or his ridiculous challenge. He wouldn't believe her anyway, so it would only be a waste of her energy.
