[OOC] The Lucidae

This RP is based on Firefly and Mass Effect, as in it takes place on a space cruiser called the SIRIUS, traversing the galaxy with a small crew. The locations and some of the lore draw from Mass Effect (e.g the Citadel is basically the political and economic heart of the galaxy, its where the SIRIUS will dock from time to time, biotic implants exist and so on). The Firefly influences in this RP is the storytelling/drama aspect. Instead of focusing on fighting a big-bad-evil, this RP is about the relationships between crew members, their trials and tribulations. While there will be some overarcing plots, the central plot is driven by the interactions between characters.

The group version of this RP flopped, but it is still open for a revival, in the meantime, heres the OOC for me [Obvious] and Henwen to indulge :D

Kay,lets get plotting!!!!

I'm willing to play the captain if you'd like, but I said I'd see if you'd rather take that role or if you'd preferr it to stay entirely NPC.

We can start at the point where Loire has returned to the Citadel after being booted from the research team on the other planet. Maybe the captain, or Viva or an NPC who is somehow related/friends with them could fall ill and wind up in Loire's care, the captain could recruit him from there and thats how he joins the crew, then along the way we just see where it goes from there!

I'm Here! As far as a captain goes, i would like to avoid an npc in that roll as much as possible. I'm actually leaning towards Viva being a freelance pilot. She's a big girl who dont need no captain. Lol! Although, im not opposed to the ship having an AI pressence if your cool with that...? No? Just me?

OOOhhhhrrrr! OR! Perhaps by early days... that could mean Pre-Sirius days? And Viva is still traipsing about the gallaxy with her increadingly violent and criminally minded twin brother? Could that be a thing? Valko could have gotten seriously injured in one of his hair brained schemes that goes south due to his hot head and hair trigger temper. Viva hunts down a doctor (or ex doctor as the case may be) and hijacks him to save her brother?

No? It gives Viva and Loire an earilier history, but i think the idea has potential...

I like the sound of this!!! Loire gets booted from the research since he doesn't like torturing patience and killing people in the name of science when his research is incomplete. Trying to find a way back to the citadel, Viva finds him on whatever-planet (need to name it soemthing lol) and needs him to save Valko. Loire agrees if Viva will help get him back to the citadel. Somewhere from there they end up working on the SIRIUS (but there is no rush to get to that part, she can freelance for quite some time!!!).

Yes, there can be an AI on the ship, perhaps not a full blown smart AI, since its only a small vessle and not a huuuuuge uber expensive one that could afford an advanced AI, maybe someone could later join the team and experiment with the AI a bit to upgrade it?
I could play the captain then if you want, I don't like the idea of an NPC captain either since it is such an important role.

Will we just go with Viva and Loire and take it from there, eventually introduce the SIRIUS and any other crew members as they come up!

This sounds great! You can play Loire and the crimminally minded captain pal of Valko, while I play the Crux twins. We'll all still be on the Lucidae, a realitively small starship... I like the idea of a later character bringing on an AI (hopefully if Nariata ever comes back i can rope em in on that, seeing as we'd already had plans for a quazi-murdurously minded ai bot that was a glorified dj-roomba LOL) so i'll leave that in the potential future.

So we'll have a not-quite hostage doctor riding along with viva as she goes through the motions of being morally-conflicted between home'n'family, and her captain'n'brother's jerkwad actions. She'll eventually decided to jump ship somewhere along the way, probably with the doc in tow. I like the idea of them stealing a shuttle and sneeking away in the night or something. Whatever works best with whatever story we cook up.

Do you want to do charactersheets for this? I can tweek Viva's and throw one up for Valko if you like. And I left Valko's Buddy Captain a blank slate so feel free to make it what you like (other than the fact that they are pals and are both royal jerkwad crimminals).

Yeah it would be great if Nariata came back!!! Theres always a spot here open for Nari!!!! In the meantime, yeah, we start off on the Lucidae (Well Viva and Valko are on the Lucidae with evil-Cap), and Loire is on Noveria, about to leave when they dock and smuggle him on board to save Valko.

I also love the idea of the two of them sneaking off in the dead of night, since Viva is a pilot, she can change the course of the Lucidae so that it flies close enough to a planet that they can use escape vessles to land on the nearest planet, then sneak off to somewhere else before Valko can notice.

Perhaps we could go along teh route of Viva captures the doctor on Noveria, doctor fixes Valko but now he's kept hostage (they dont drop him off on the citadel), Viva is conflicted because its bad enough shes caugh tup in Valko's mess but now she's got an innocent doctor tangled up in the chaos too. After a few weeks/month/however long of being virtually held hostage, Viva makes a plan to break the two of them out and convinces Loire to join in. Somehow, they escape and then we go from there :) Perhaps they stick together for more adventures, or maybe part ways eventually meeting up again on the SIRIUS under a new captain and Valko could reappear looking for help later on!

I have an idea about what to do with the evil captain to make things more complicated and conflicted but I feel bad about it ... I'll see how we go IC first heehe.

Character sheets are optional, I mean theres a CS tab, and if you want to use CS's by all means pop one in, I'll do one up for evil cap and Loire is in the old thread so I'll copy paste it in this CS thread, but its entirely up to you if you want to go through making up a CS for Valko. You don't need to worry about doing a sample post, I know what your writing level is from the last RP so its cool! ^__^

Whatever you have planned for the evil capitan... DO IT! Evil ideas are the best! I dont even know what it is but it sounds fantastic! Tell me this evil idea because i am now dying to know.

I might do a charactersheet for Valko- but yeah like you said, since it's just us i think we are good to go for just diving into IC. And i think we are also ready to dive right in. We covered everything we need to yeah? I think so.

Recap!

Viva and Valko are still together on the Lucidae. Valko and EvilCaptian had a bad gig go south- so now Viva needs to hijack a doctor to save her twins life and snags good Doctor Loire and holds him hostage with the promise of a drop off that most likely doesn't happen. Things happen and Viva and Loire sneek away with a shuttle.

Only big question now is... what was the bad gig and how south did it go?

I just read Noah's sheet and holy shit you have made a real peice of work! He sounds perfectly dispicable and i love it! Viva will hate his guts, and reluctantly still like him cause he's Valko's friend and they've known him for like ever. And I now feel the need to tweek sheets even more. Short and simple like, of course, but Valko needs a sheet so i can explore his side of things, and his relationship with Noah or Adder as it where. Lol!

Yeah I want to give Noah some redeeming qualities ... I mean Loki is my alltime favourite villain, and as far as villains go, hes incredibly likeable even when hes a little shit. I think making Noah insecure, since he had a shitty childhood, will help make him less of a cliche "bad-to-the-bone" character. That doesn't mean I'm going to make him act like a sweety, god no, he will be utterly deplorable!!!

I think Valko being converted to the bad-side like Noah will make it easier, Valko will be "evil" by his own means, it wont be just Noah telling Valko "Go stab this guy, go get these drugs etc etc" Valko will act on his own volition, but of course it was Noah who set him off down this dark path and it is Noah he'll always come back to even if Valko is acting entirely autonomously!

As for the Doctor, I can see him being emotionally manipulated by Noah, but not knowing it and thinking Noah is genuinely a good guy that is misunderstoof. Noah will see that Loire is vulnerable, and basically an easy target, and will take advantage in every way he knows how. By the time Viva manages to make her escape with Loire, I hope he will have changed profoundly and have become more guarded and cautious, maybe even a little cold and darker, but of course not irredeemable.

I really cant wait to see Valko in action though, part of me thinks he's really just a victim in all of this, but he could be utterly bad once we go to IC!!! I can't wait to find out who can be saved and who is a lost cause!

Absolutely! You got Valko to a tee- although i dont see him much as a victom much. He is well awaire of the choices he makes, and honestly doesnt give much of a damn who he hurts- well, i'm working on his sheet now. So you'll see soon enough lol!

Do whatever you like my dear!!! The cargo and what went down from Valko's perspective is totally a free for all! Loire is or around the hotel (yknow the one at port hanshan its literally just beside the port so he's not far away ;) ), not sure how she'll discover he is a doctor though ... didn't quite think that one out, if you want an NPC to encounter him or something to "out him" as a doctor thats fine.
