A few ideas for a Yu-gi-oh! RP

So, I feel like doing a Yu-Gi-Oh! RP, though I don't really have a lot of ideas. Any suggestions would be great. We will definently be typing out duels for this RP, as it is generally more fun, and easier, since we don't have to schedule duels.

Here's a couple of ideas I had:

1. A tournament is being held at the grand opening of a new Duel Academy and you have been invited to attend. Though, things take a change for the worse when all of the gates are sealed shut, leaving all those who showed up for the tournament locked inside. A masked figure claims to have the entire school rigged with explosives, and if the tournament doesn't go on as normal, everyone dies. Though, no one is sure if they will ever have a chance to get out alive.

2. You are a student at the [insert name here] Duel Academy, which is commonly known as "The Duel Tower". The Duel tower is a massive skyscraper-esque building in the middle of a desert. Most of the facality is actually underground though, so, no need to fret. This would basically just a slice of life style Yu-Gi-Oh! RP.

Yea, I guess I really like Duel Academies as setting.

Feel free to suggest any plot ideas, or just general suggestions that you have.
Also, custom cards/archetypes will be allowed, but they will be checked for PSCT and power level.

dunno how it works with this kind of thing. Would we have to limit the decks? How do we determine a hand? I mean I can god hand a uber competitive deck and win turn 1. Would it just be under the understanding that the decks are nerfed from competitive levels?

My favorite option is the random number generator. If someone is god-handing and instant winning, they will probably be kicked from the RP. The TCG meta decks will be banned, and I expect a few people to create custom cards/decks, which are usually either too powerfull (OP custom cards will be changed), or not competetive in any way.

One idea I had a while back, but never took off, was the idea of the Yu-Gi-Oh Apocalypse. Essentially, due to some fuckery involving shadow magic, one of the big cities is now over-run with rampaging Duel Monsters. Good news, though, turns out that the monsters in your deck are now real as well. So, it's sort of like Pokemon... Only where you can't capture the pokemon, and instead of just trying to go about their merry business, their merry business is trying to eat your soul.

you know i dont mind this. actually why dont we all just start with "starter decks" and "buy" packs in the rp that way we would all have a fair start with some exceptions for some characters (all depending on the GM)

with buy packs in the RP i mean GM sets up a shop with certains packs and we randomize the cards in those packs (basicly making it just like real life or like the games)

Joking, of course. XD I get what you mean, and it sounds like an interesting idea if we could somehow get it to work. Might be a good idea to fudge some of the randomization in case someone actually wants to run with a certain theme but other than that, um, yeah.

@Rincould also do it like this "Kyou opened his pack revealing -card from pack player wants-" and have it planned out. as long you know what pack has which cards. not breaking the rarity ruling

So, I guess most of you are for a duel academy RP with some sort of a pack buying mechanic? A pack mechanic sounds interesting, and definitely contributes some kind of progression. Yea, I'm all for this. I will try to have the OOC up within the next few days.

So, besides Nekroz, what other decks are off limits? (Bujins...please...they're so unfun to fight)

I'm not too interested in buying packs myself, but I was planning to obtain more cards during the RP either way, so...

As for banning archetypes... it's kind of tricky, because while I'm sure we can all agree that Burning Abyss and Nekroz deserve to burn in hell, other archetypes are... more controversial, to say the least. Maybe with a soft-lock or an agreement to not run cards at certain numbers, things could work, but I'd imagine we'd run into problems with, say, a flat "no Blackwings" clause.

The definite bans are: Nekroz, BA, Shaddolls(Though, this may just end up being specific shaddoll cards), and tellarknights (since they won worlds or something)

As well, cards that special to specific characters/have only 1 copy in existance in the anime will all be banned.
