If you are unfamiliar with the book series, please do not let that scare you off. My plan is all original characters anyway.
I wish to create a roleplay based upon my favourite book series, 'Gone' by Michael Grant. Set in a small beach town of Perdido Beach, California, everyone over the age of 15 suddenly and without warning disappears, and a sphere of energy covers the town, leaving the youngsters trapped inside. Not only this, but some of them start to develop powers. Invisibility, Telekinesis, super speed and any other (more interesting) powers you can think of. In 1995, 20 years before the present day and the events of the roleplay, a meteor hit just outside of perdido beach and punched a cavern deep into the ground. Is it just a coincidence, that the cavern is just about right in the middle of the 20 mile diameter sphere that now covers the town?
For the roleplay I'm going to up the age of disappearance to 21, and have original characters to fill the book's setting. (If you're familiar with the books and wish to play a character from the books, I'd allow it, just you might consider upping the age a bit).
In Perdido Beach there are two schools (well, three, including the Elementary school), Perdido Beach High School, and Coates Academy. Perdido Beach High School is as you'd expect, the high school for residents of Perdido Beach. Coates Academy is a private boarding school, set up for troublesome young people. However, not everyone who is an antagonist has to start at Coates, and not everyone who starts at Coates has to be an antagonist.
As mayhem and chaos takes place throughout Perdido Beach without adult guidance, drugs, alcohol, and sex (timeskipped of course, sticking with the sites rules) will all be allowed. And as the more ambitious residents of the new Perdido Beach struggle for power and control, a much darker evil than any Coates Academy student lurks in the depths of the meteor’s cavern…
I’m sure there’s a few things I missed out, but I’m really unsure if anyone will have any interest in this, due to my feeling the book series isn’t that well known, and I’m not going to put hours of effort into an interest check for something I’m 80% sure won’t take off. But, if there’s enough interest, I’ll get more details and get this fully fleshed out.
