^ Lols.
Just noticed that you spelled my name as 'Tsukube' in the thread title XD

Anyway I'll be reading up a bit on the geography of Canada, and also find a suitable location to set the stage (obviously not going for Toronto, are we?).

For MC's coven I'm going with a mix of Chinese and Japanese descent. Their basic vampiric features will be no different from YC's coven (I'm thinking of going with universally shared characteristics regardless of region they are from), but might play around with the idea of dabbing into some dark magic, just a little bit.

Also, are we still going with a possible half-vamp idea? Or maybe let the IC develop first then we'll see about this?

Goddamn my phone! I'll change it later XD

Sounds good to me :) I like the idea of it not being based in a city. Everything is based in a city now.. Perhaps a small town or a wide spread location.

I agree. Everyone will have the same basic infection type thing, perhaps some changes due to location but I don't imagine anything major :)

We can let the IC develop first, get some basics down and then go from there :)

Haha no worries - we all have moments we want to throw our phones into the water for trying to be smarter than us...with horrible auto-correct. /glares at iPhone unceremoniously

How about Quebec? From what I read the climate has long winters/nighttime and short summers/daytime. The two largest language groups in this province are French and followed by English, so you can throw in some French goodies if you want. The capital is Quebec City; the most populated is Montreal. Maybe we can set at the Laurentian Mountains? It's one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world (you know what this means heh).

As for vampirism, are we going with traditional/dracula-inspired characteristics, or with Meyer's sparkly kind? Or a combination of both with some original touches?

That's sounds like a good idea :)

Haha, same XD but we love autocorrect really :P

Ooh, I like it! Well go with that then :) get some French lovelies in there too :P

I think to keep from having to limit outside interaction, we should probably go with Meyer's, unless you want to twist it slightly so instead of sparkling, direct sunlight makes them burn. Aside from that, I'm down with Dracula, maybe minus the crosses, garlic, church's, and stakes. Take off the head, that's the best way :P

Of course, of course. Especially when I'm in a sleep-deprived state while texting my friends and then they reply me back with "lol what the hell are you typing did auto-correct possessed you or something" XD

We can come up with a fictional town situated in the Laurentian, maybe something that sounds French-y, but my knowledge on the French language is pretty much stuck at 'bonjour, moi, au revoir, noir' level. I just know a few odd words here and there, absolutely zero idea on the complicated grammar and male-female nouns or whatever lol.

I'm cool going with Meyer's version - minus the sparkling bit. As for the burning part maybe not immediate, at least a couple of minutes under direct sunlight before they start smoking and eventually on fire? And yep agreeing with you on the "no garlic, stakes, silver cross, holy water or churches" stuffs. Just set them on fire and there we go. XD

Hey, I use google so it's okay if we can't speak the other language :P I usually leave a note at the bottom of all translations :P But I think it would be a good mix to have a heap of French Canadians who speak both languages anyway, considering the country.

Sounds like a plan. They can get about five minutes at most before the pain is unbearable, or they burst into flames.

Oh yea let's throw in some cool pseudo-French for this RP XD

Do you have a rough image of how you see the place where YC's coven marked the territory in your mind? Like the kind of house they live in? Going further, how about the immediate surrounding of your character, such as the members in her coven, and any human acquaintances she may have?
As for the fictional town (which will be at the foot of the range), I imagined as a pretty small one with scared population, with a sub-urban kind of feel. The pace is slower compared to typical city life, a really peaceful and quiet place great for vampires to hide from human curiosity. :)

I think the setting is more or less taking shape, so once we're done with it we can start working on characters. Yay!

I imagine it's the type of town where everyone knows everyone, small and polite. I've come up with around four character altogether so far. I had pictured their coven to be small, hidden and just happy. Perhaps with enough space to allow for almost any plot we choose to throw at them :)

I agree, it shouldn't be long now :)

What a coincidence - I'm also going with 4 for the oriental coven. I think it's a good number of characters to work with, not too many to make things over-complicated, and not too few to feel lacking.

Guess we do share similar mind image of the location. Awesome - this makes the setting part pretty much finalized (except for the town name, but that can be decided when we work in CS so it's ok).

I'm hoping we're playing the other members of both covens as NPCs, and we largely focus on our respective main OCs.

Plot wise the generic one we had so far should be enough to work on for now, since this RP would be more character-driven.

All sounds groovy then :)

I was thinking about this as a potential plot point later: Are you going with a) the gift/power stuff in the original fandom? Or we sticking to our own world without them. b) Are we going with a potential undead government/royaly/Volturi type thing?

Seeing that we're more or less going along with Meyer's (minus the sparkling because seriously I can never get over this bit it's just so ridiculous haha), we can have our characters to develop some sort of gifts - something subtle, not those really crazy stuffs you see in DC/Marvel heroes. We can even dab into the realms of possible ritual/dark magic depending on the IC development.

Sure - or if you want we can also make this RP some sort of a continuation from the book series but set apart from the canon events (basically borrowing concepts and some references but no direct canon links). Since the Volturi controls Europe or much of the vamps in the west, we can have another undead government that rules over the vamps in the east to maintain some sort of power balance, and this can be further developed into a clash between the two factions with our main characters as the center of the conflict.

Yeah, I agree. Overpowered characters are stupid as hell. But I think if we make the "gifts" rare then we should be okay, not as common as they are in the books/films. Hahha, I'm glad I'm not the only person who flipped their shit when they realised they sparkled XD I have always been a huge fan of the 30 Days of Night series and to read that after reading true vampire horror was hilarious XD Ooh, that would be interesting. Especially in the sense of tribe style "magic".

Have you heard of the World of Darkness, Vampire; the Masquerade before? They have a really interesting concept of government, a lot like the Meyer version just with stricter laws and swifter judgement. Ooh, I like that. Power struggles and drama :3

Yeah, I mean this is not DC or Marvel, so no need to go that far imo. ^^;

Rare gifts that are not common in books or films huh - I was only thinking of going with psychological abilities that are not explored in the canon series, but to really come up with something unique...I have some research to do. XD

I didn't just flip shit at the sparkling part - I couldn't even get past that page for a whole month when I reached there in the book. Because of that I started to think of Meyer's vamp as personification of diamonds... >_>

I think I did - after googling it was released before I was born haha, so I'm too young to appreciate that game. (Ok not that young either - I'm already past 20.) We can go with a system similar to World of Darkness, but more simplified to fit the context of this RP better.

Heh - well, who doesn't like romance, drama and/or politics in fiction nowadays? ^^;

Haha, you're not the only one with research to do >.< but I know what you mean, no Professor X or Pheonix XD

Hahaha, that's fantastic ^^ I remember giving up with the series in book Four. I'd gotten that far so I thought I'd finish it, may as well. Then I read something, can't remember what, and just put it down, picked up The Hobbit and settled back I with good fiction XD

It's a good PC game if you have a PC it will run on XD Don't bother getting it off Steam, it won't work >.< best to play on disk in administrator mode XD

Totally agreeing with you on "no Professor X" - and especially no Phoenix. If Meyer's sparkly vamps made me flip, then I'd say the same for the whole Phoenix thingy in X-Men universe. Cosmic or not that is pure OP shit imo. I liked X-Men because the lines between hero and villain are blurred compared to the other superhero titles, but when they throw in the Phoenix bit... Wtf?

Was thinking of having two of my characters being "fraternal twins" of some sort (not biologically speaking, just that they have this gift which allows them to share empathy links with each other or something)... For my lineup it's 1 female and 3 males, with the lady being the mother hen of the coven.
Do you prefer using pictures or describe your character's appearance using words? If pics, real or animanga? Personally I don't have any restrictions as to what medium my partners wish to use to depict their characters, but I find a lot of rpers here are not fond of animanga unless the RP is anime-based.
Also, do you have a CS template you would like me to follow, or I'm free to make my CS in my own style?

I actually ditched the book at the sparkling part, but I'm the type who would try to finish the book series no matter how shitty it is, so in the end I read them all... It wasn't even a great time-killer, honestly. Oh well.
I'm not much of a fan when it comes to high European fantasy - I grew up with Asian fantasy. I tried reading LOTR long ago and remembered complaining to my friends how boring that book was lol. I felt better off watching the movie than to plow through the long-winded books ^^;

I'm not sure - I am a gamer, but I don't like to play games on PC (as an art student my comp is already cluttered with heavy designer softwares - the last thing I need is to throw in a game and then my computer crashes). I prefer to game on consoles, or mobiles since in recent years there are more good games being developed for smartphones.

I know exactly what you mean! The last xmen movie reminded me a lot of people's first attempts at roleplay. Everyone is a stereotype and over powered and the hero XD but I agree! Aside from the staple and boring Wolverine character, it was easy to see both sides of the coin, even if you were told Prof X and the gang were the good guys. Overall it was us regular folks that were the problem.

I prefer using images if I'm honest, simply out of having a firm image of a character in my mind, as well as who I'm rping with. I have no preference over where they're real or animanga images, I just usually stick to real or a painting/digital art as often some characters are hard to find (especially when doing an Elder Scrolls rp)

Yay for console!!! I know what you mean. I don't get the point of having to upgrade a PC everyone few years when a console lasts 10 before you need to upgrade.

Haha the Phoenix I was referring to in my previous post was the comic version; I actually preferred the movie's take on the Phoenix power, which is just a split personality of herself due to the psychic blocks Prof X placed in her rather than some cosmic creature who came to possess Jean. Unfortunately the movie didn't develop that well, which is really disappointing.

Noted. Hmm I guess for consistency sake I'll just use real images like you for this RP, or some realistic game characters if the suitable real pic is hard to find.

I love consoles - sadly my parents are pretty strict so I don't own home consoles, only portables. If I want to play on home consoles I'd have to go over to my buddies' house.

I hope you don't mind me going slow on this - I like to solidify the RP plan before we begin proper, not jump start on a shaky foundation and then things get to nowhere later because of that. I've had impatient rpers walking out on me when I refused to start without reaffirming the finer details first.

I'll admit, I never really got chance to read the comics >.< but no, I agree. It does seem a little less insane to have it be a manifestation of herself.

I usually just have a face in mind and grab that face or go on the hunt using Deviantart XD seriously though, I don't mind what medium you use :)

Ahh, you're not missing much to be honest :) they're fun if you have the same as everyone else you know, if not you have to be brave and make friends >.< what portables do you play?

Hey! No I don't mind! I am exactly the same way. I refuse to even start unless I have a plot and roughly know what on earth is happening at the start. So seriously, don't worry :)

I tried...and I totally flipped when Marvel went on rampage with over-complicated timelines and paradoxes, because there's just too many different writers working on the same material (I absolutely cannot forgive what they did with Cyclops - by giving him a mutant harem). In the end I just gave up and went back to Japanese manga instead.

Nah it's alright - it's better for both of us to keep this consistent, and I think for this RP a real pic works better. *le me digging around using Google Image Search*
Hmm I guess I wouldn't want to reveal too much about the backstory of my characters in the CS - just the basics to give you a rough understanding will do - and prefer to let the rest develop in the IC, then I'll update the CS to include new info about their history accordingly.
Just post your CS in the Character Tab whenever you're ready. There's no need for approval or anything in 1x1 lol. For me I don't really impose CS template on my partners, but if you have one that you would like me to follow, I'm happy to do so.

I have PSP and PS Vita, still debating about DS/3DS because of its region-lock thingy (why Nintendo why can't you be like Sony >_>). I mostly play original Japanese games because I'm not used to English VAs.
