Adam stepped into the school five minutes late as usual . His backpack slung over his shoulder, hood pulled over his head, and headphones blaring music into his ears, he wandered the halls in search of his locker . He grabbed his books for his first hour lesson, writing, and trudged on to class . He hated the fact that they still had to incorporate regular school classes . Why couldn't they just focus on power training ?

Charlie sat in his Science class - his favorite core class - and waited impatiently for the introduction to start as it was the first day of the new year . He was reading through the textbook in order to keep himself occupied, entertained, and ahead on the material .

Onica sat in Math, looking around and observing all her classmates with a slightly evil smile on her face that just says she's up to something . She smiled sweetly at a few of her classmates, then turned around to pretend she was working on the practice review assignment listed on the board .

Zoey had chosen to skip class, as it was her least favourite, instead, she had comfortably taken refuge on the roof of the school. Her bookbag was laying on the ground next to her, her headphones over her ears and blasting her favourite music. She vaguely heard the rush of students in the halls beneath her. She sat down, leaning back against a rooftop vent.

Ezra raced towards the school, he usually didn't sleep that late into the morning, but numerous things had kept him from sleeping until very late, or early, he supposed. He was supposed to catch up to Tara, but the bell had already rung for the first time before class. He wouldn't have time to see her without being late, again, and he really didn't need another warning to bring home to his Mother, especially if his "Uncle" was in town for the time.

Altaira stands in the hall, waiting for Ezra. Again. 'hm. I thought he'd be on time today.' She walks to class alone, seeming distracted when a boy knocks into her making her drop her books. Without saying anything she picks up her books and sits down in class.

Ash, sprinting down the hall trying to catch up to his sister. He bumps into a few people causing them to fall or drop various items. They yell insults but Ash is running too fast to understand them. He catches up to her just as she enters their class. He sits in the back towards the window, as usual, just as the bell rings.

Zoey sighed lightly, the air was cool against her exposed skin. She pulled out a book and started reading, blocking out the sound of the school day.

Ezra ran into the school, just as the secondary bell rang. "Shit!" He ran to his class, opening the door. "Sorry I'm late.." He mumbled breathlessly.
"Late again, Mister Shaeld." The teacher wrote down a notice for the tardy. Ezra accepted it with a sigh and walked to his desk in the back of the class.

Ava rolled her eyes as her brother ran into the classroom last minute. She sat just behind him, right after the window stopped, making it one of the darkest corners in the room.

Altaira gave Ezra that same disappointed look she gave him whenever he was late. "What was it this time?" She whispered to Ezra as he sat behind her in the back of the room.

Ash plays with the strands of light piercing through the window. He bends a beam toward Ava so that it lands on her forehead, making him snicker.

Ezra shrugged half heartedly. "Slept late.." he mumbled as he sat down. He glanced around at the numerous bodies in the room. There were more, he knew, in his sight then most people could see. He sighed, looking out the nearby window, where even more spirits lingered in morosity. "I couldn't sleep last night again.."

Ava waved her hand to counter the sudden beam of light, causing the ribbon of darkness to merge beautifully with the light, creating a halo of twilight. "Must you always be so immature?" She asked with a subtle tone of exasperation.

Altaira put her hand on his desk, making him turn toward her. "You wanna stay at my house tonight? You may sleep better there. It'll be like when we were younger."

Ash chuckles again. "Do you really have to ask?" As the teacher walks by and snap a ruler on Ash's desk, making him fling around and sit straight.

"With Chris there? I dunno. I doubt they'll be a difference." He whispered gloomily. He pulled out his textbook as the teacher started to walk around the class. He blankly wrote notes as he continued to think. "But I will take up the offer anyway."

Ava rolled her eyes. "You're going to get us expelled one of these days." She went back to reading a book hidden behind her textbook. "Why do all the practical classes have to be at the end of the day?"

Ash doodles in his textbook. "I don't know. Why not the beginning of the day, when we're all not paying attention any way?" He finishes the dragon he's been drawing all day. "There." He shows Ava, moving her book out of the way.

Altaira smiles when Ezra accepts. "The plus side is, my dad is going to be out tonight. Some kind of buisness meeting. Or that's what he says." She finishes her warm-up and begins humming, the bids outside the window seeming to sing along.

"I was reading that." Ava picked up his drawing and examined it. "Cool though. But a seriously lack of deadliness in my opinion."

"I'll still have to face him when we go home." He gave up on pretending to write, instead staring at the sunlight in Tara's warm brown hair. Even at night it still seemed warm and sunny. Then her eyes always seemed to match the sky, so much unlike his stormy grey ones. She was so different. So warm and happy and colourful. Whereas he spent more time in the darkness, with an aura of gloom and sorrow, all his colours seeming grey. Except when he was with her, then the sorrows of the spirits around him didn't seem to be as dawning. He jumped as the teacher walked past, tapping on his desk to retrieve his warm up.

Adam sat in the second to last row of the classroom, listening to music and writing the assigned "Class Introduction" essay . He didn't really care much about school or grades, but he did the important work and somehow did it well, even though he never studied . He could usually just read someone's mind and take their answers if he didn't know what to do .

Charlie sat at the third lab table in the first row of the science classroom . He seemed to be the only one at that table who was actually interested in this subject . A few of the students gave him judgmental looks as he read through the textbook .

Onica sat in one of the back corners of the classroom, watching as the girl in the opposite back corner talked with a similar looking boy in front of her . She kept an eye on them, along with some of the rest of the class, and continued to pretend that she was doing her work . The girl seemed okay . The boy ? Too happy .

Zoey returned a bookmark to the novel, placing it back in her bookbag. She stood up, stretching. She rocked her head to each side, cracking her neck. "What to do, what to do...."

As he reached for the book, a twilight ray shot across the room. "I love it when it does that." Ash says, returning to his doodling as the teacher starts his everyday lecture.

Altaira jotted down notes, oblivious to Ezra staring at her from behind. She knew she would have to write two sets of notes. One for her and one for Ezra. When the teacher finished his lesson he began to pass out the homework. She turned toward Ezra. "Okay. So meet outside the school at 3:30 and we'll head to my house."

"As do I. However our lovely teacher does not." Ava whispered quietly as the teacher sighed at the twilight beams
"Anarvis. However attractive and amusing you may find your little light shows, I must implore them to stop."
"We can't help it, it just happens sometimes." Avalyn said quietly from her seat. "Just like how your toupée 'happens' to fall off." she mumbled under her breath, only her brother hearing her.

Ezra nodded. "I'll try my best to get there quickly." He paused in the midst of stowing away his things. "Are you sure Chris won't be there?"

Adam finished the Class Introduction essay and stood up next to his desk . He asked to be excused to the school office for an urgent reason, and the teacher handed him a slip and let him go . He crumbled the paper and stuffed it into his pocket, sneaking out of the school instead . He stopped next to the fountain and looked around in thought .

Zoey glanced over the campus, noticing a familiar face by the fountain. She smirked, walking over to the edge closest. "You know skipping is bad for your record, Adam."

Adam turned and looked at the familiar girl, taking his headphones off and putting them around his neck . "Heh . Says you," he replied, nodding once towards her .

"Truuee, but my record's fucked as is." She shrugged carelessly. "You wouldn't happen to have some food would ya?"

Adam shrugged . "Exactly my point ." He took his backpack off and sat down on the edge of the fountain, careful to keep his feet on the ground so Zoey couldn't push him in . He unzipped it and rummaged through it . "Nope, no food . Money, though that's mine ."

Zoey picked up her bag and slid off the roof, landing with a light thud. "I got some cash. Wanna hit up that cafe on Parkway?"
