World Breakers

[Blaze Gamma]

In 2018 it happened. Some called it the end of the world, others called it a new beginning. An unknown asteroid was on a collision course with the Earth, one large enough to cause an extinction level event. Scientists worked hard and developed a weapon capable of destroying the asteroid, and, with almost no time to spare, the weapon activated, and the threat to the world was destroyed.

However, the asteroid came close, and with its destruction, debris rained down on the earth, and an unknown factor entered the atmosphere.

This factor bound with the DNA of newborns, and soon enough, they came...

People with powers over that of normal humans. Each of them gifted with heightened strength, heightened speed, heightened durability, heightened intelligence, and each of them born with a unique ability.

Some of these people would, when awakened, begin to terrorize the average masses, and as a result, human progress halted to a snails pace, even with others fighting back.

Those born effected by the alien factor were known as the Powered.

Within the Powered, a group was formed. The World Breakers, who have taken it upon themselves to try and regulate the activities of other Powered, such as themselves.

The whole specialization thing is confusing me. From the OP, I was assuming that we all had enhanced forms/brain capacity, and one main power?

We're all superhuman, but we still have things we're better and worse at than one another. These are all relative. Even those of us with weakness intelligence are going to be, at worst, smart as the average person off the street. It's how good/bad you are at using the boosts, so to speak.

Name: Yamada Bourne
Age: 25
Appearance:
Personality: Yamada comes off as a quiet, emotionally distant man, most-likely suffering from some sort of heavy chip on his shoulder. Although seeming quite cold, and ruthless when attacking, fighting, and dispatching enemies, he has a sort of dry, wry wit that comes off whenever he is speaking sardonically to someone idiotic, or whenever he releases a subtle joke whenever he feels the need to. This seems to contradict his otherwise solitary sense of person, leaving him a bit of a mysterious figure. One thing that doesn't change about Yamada, despite some shortcomings, is his promise to redeem himself - which keeps him on the right path, even if that path is strewn with hardships. He has become quite adept at quoting different sources, and uses said quotes whenever he doesn't feel like talking to another person.
Personal History: To be added. WIP
Power: Telekinesis. Yamada has the ability to physically move/pull/affect different objects and lifeforms with his mental will, which allows him to skillfully pull off different maneuvers and takedowns with his blade. The heavier the object is, the more effort it takes to move/affect it with his mind, which could mess up his otherwise smooth combat style.

Personality: A blood knight to an extreme, he enjoys combat a little more than is likely necessary. Off the battlefield, he's generally very lazy, and he's always got a quick tongue.
Personal History: One of the first conscripted into the World Breakers 5 years ago, though not necessarily by choice, he has found a bit of a home for himself there. His considerable time in the group has allowed him to gain the real of a field commander, though his subordinates often question his worthiness as such. Still, he likes what he does, and would not trade it for the world.

@Dirty Dan Two things, remember that without Power as a specialization, you'll not be very adept with it, though not inept either. Other thing is that you're too old. Only those conceived after the factor was introduced would be Powered, so the oldest Powered would be at most 25 years and 3 months old

Name: Afework "Afe" Bello
Age: 13
Appearance:
Afe stands at 5 foot 5 and appears to be in good shape for his age. His hair is bright blond and often swept back. His eyes are a deep blue and he bears a scar just above his right eye that crosses his eyebrow. He often wears his sleevless jacket whenever he can. The jacket has the words "Wild Boys" written shoddily on the back in red paint, the name of his former 'Gang', the name of which they got from a 'Duran Duran' song. He three various necklaces at almost all times, each representing someone he was unable to save from death.
Personality:
Afe can best be described as a 'smart alec'. He is often disrespectful to members of authority and often makes jokes, no matter how unfunny they are. He is quick to have 'banter' with just about anyone he meets. Anyone unfamiliar with the playful insulting known as banter could take this the wrong way, of course, to which Afe simply just does not care.
Personal History:
Born in South Africa to two very poor parents, Afe has never had an easy life. He had to steal and do various jobs from a young age in order to help support his family. He attended school once or twice, but was uneducated for the most part of his life. He and his family scraped by on what they could all accumulate together, but it was hardly a healthy life.

Raiders attacked Afe's village when he was about 8. They began taking children as soldiers, Afe wasn't so easily taken. His parents put up a fight, a small one at that. They had no proper weaponry and after getting a quick punch to the first raider they were quickly gunned down in the street. Afe was taken against his will, but not before he vowed revenge.

He stayed under the command of the Raiders until he was about 10. They had taught him how to use weaponry by that point and he was confident enough in his abilities to ensure that his plan would work. He began raising a small operation right under the noses of the raiders. He convinced the other child soldiers that had been captured with him to rise up against their captors at the same time and escape.

The plan worked perfectly, and it was the first time that Afe had ever used his powers. It seems in the heat of the action, his emotions took over and truly unlocked his powers, enabling him to teleport and increasing his body's capacities.

He led the small brigand of child soldiers for about a year after that. They made their base in the remnant of Afe's old village and anyone who came to oppose them were quickly dealt with by Afe himself. His operations were noticed rather quickly though, and his brigand was split up in one fell swoop when a representative of the 'World Breakers' came to forcefully force him to join them.

This was just after his 12th birthday, and he had been in training ever since then, having only been let out onto the field recently. He often remarks that the only good thing to come from his 'abduction' was his newfound obsession with the music of 'Billy Idol' soon after being picked up.

Appearance

Personality:

• quiet, reserved; very shy in general
• generally hesitant when talking to people because she's wary of accidentally picking up some facial features or mannerisms
• very protective in general, especially of children and animals
• sweet and kind when you get to know her; fiercely loyal
• but when she gets really angry, she can be terrifying as she takes on aspects of more intimidating personalities/forms

Personal History: She doesn't remember much of her past. Every time she assimilates a piece from someone else, her oldest memories start to fade, albeit very slowly. Due to this, she both avoids accidental mimicry at all costs, and has no memories of the first few years of her life. She only hazily remembers her parents; they were poor, and dumped her when she was six or so when she started developing Powers. She could have made plenty of cash using her powers—as a model, as an athlete, as a sideshow freak—but she was afraid of losing even more of her life, so she lived on minimum wage short-term jobs for as long as she could. That is, of course, until she joined the World Breakers—both as a way to do good, and because the only interactions she's ever had with other Powered people have been decidedly negative.

Power: Mimicry. Adelaide can exactly replicate the appearance, voice, and physical capabilities (including some muscle memory; how to fire a gun, how to do a backflip) of anyone she's met or has pictures of. In the case of the Powered, she can even (to an extent) replicate their powers—but as much weaker shadows of their former selves. (i.e., creating sparks instead of summoning lightning bolts, small candle-like flames instead of fireballs) Trying to use false powers much more than that is highly dangerous, and carries a high risk of backfire.
