as the dreamscape i'd been in began to leave me I felt a sense of sadness so profound and intense i could feel tears in my eyes, then just as suddenly as it had come it was gone and i remembered what was happening, the world had just ended. of course after the stay in the stasis pod it had been five years but it was still fresh my mind and it would be in the mines of the others too! the others would be waking up soon and i needed to get everything ready and since i had over two hundred people in my vault that would take some doing, thankfully i had some help.

robobrian, can you start up the main reactor, bring the water purification system online, get rations out for everyone and prepare quarters for the listed vault dwellers please?

"right away sir!" it said in a sweet synthetic female voice and disappeared through the doorway. after a brief spell of nausea and vomiting, which was odd because that wasn't supposed to happen unless you been in your pod for more than a hundred years, i put on a fresh vault suit and waited for the others.

Eric brushed his eyes clear as the cryopod released him. He got maybe two steps away from the pod before grabbing the offered bin and throwing up what little was in his stomach. He felt horrible, but he had to remain strong. He was a soldier damn it!

Grabbing his vault outfit and then his rucksack, he knew he had to go see the overseer quickly enough. If nothing else, depending on how the vault was run, May be he could find work as a security guard or something like it. Who knows, maybe some of his buddies survived and if they were ok, he could bring them in the vault too. Soldiers were still needed, and he could see them being pretty useful here.

With pack slung, he headed off if he wasn't stopped,to find the Overseer.

Elliot vomited into the a bin. 'Only 5 years, Strange.' He thought. 'Dizziness and vomiting are symptoms of much more prolonged hibernation. No, it must just be me and my weak stomach.'

He cleaned himself up and put in his Formal-ware. 'I must speak with the overseer and try to see if I can get a message to my wife. God I hope she is all right. He walked out of the door to his pod room and asked for directions to the Overseers office.

ok in this post i found out all my lead personnel where killed by Vault-tec and we've been out for two hundred years

Elliot walked down the corridors towards the overseers office, thinking what to say. He needed to get that message to his wife, hell even leave the vault and get to her. He reached the administrative section of the vault and was stopped by a young man.
"You cannot go further, we are on lock down until the Overseer has settled things out." The man said.
"I-I-I Understand young man. I am in fact looking for the Ov-O-Overseer to see if I can lend some assistance." Replied Elliot.
The young man looked him over.
"I am a m-m-medical professional, he can u-us-use my skills." Continued Elliot.
The young man sighned and pressed a com-pannel. "Let the Overseer know a..." He looked at Elliot.
"E-El-Elliot F-Falk" Stated Elliot.
"...Elliot Falk would like to lend his medical assistance". The young man finished and waited for a reply.

Eric was right behind Eliot and sighed at the man when he was stopped next. He closed his eyes and took a slow breath, trying to calm himself and seek his center. Brushing his hair back, he looked to the man before him.

"Let the Overseer know that Sergeant Eric Steele is here to see him and awaiting placement as per usual Vault rules."

Eliot falk? Was I supposed to know him or something? Then as if responding to my thoughts the robobrain spoke up. "my files show that Dr. Eliot falk is a medical professional and may be a suitable replacement for Dr. Stephen Lewis."

It was starting to creep me out, how did it get all this information from the links in the stasis pods?

alright send him in.

i said as i pulled up his file on the computer before me. he had an impressive resume and experience running a practice of his own, hopefully he would take the job.

Eliot was escorted into the overseers office. There in front of him he saw a middle aged man sitting at his desk.

"H-he-hello, I am Elliot F-Falk. I have come here to see if I can assist y-y-you. I-I also want to know If I can get a m-m-message out to my w-wi-wife."

I looked up from the computer when I heard the door open and smiled at the man that walked in and stood to shake his hand.

ah, yes DR. Falk, please sit down. I'm Mathias Stewart.

I say motioning to a chair in front of my desk as my heart fell a little. as much as I wanted to keep this under wraps for the moment and as much as I needed this man to run the med staff, he had the right to know what had happened.

I'm sorry but I have some bad news. I can explain why later but we've been asleep much longer than we where supposed to be, about two hundred years.

as I say this I can see the mans face fall and I cant help but feel for him, I don't know what I'd do if it had been my wife.

Eliot sat down stunned. Two hundred years, what was he to think. His thought shoot back to the only real anchor of reality he knew. "M-m-my wife?" He asked.

This was almost more than I could take, I had just crushed his world and I had no good news to give.

I'm sorry Dr. Falk but I don't know. I have no idea which Vault she might be in and no way to contact them if I did, but it is possible that she is in stasis just like we were. I know that this facility was not the only one to be out fitted with them, but beyond that I just don't have any information. I am truly sorry!

I look the man in the face as openly as I can and let the pain I'm feeling seep into my voice so he knows that I'm being sincere. What a nightmare he is living.

if you can think of anything I can do to help please let me know! For right now though I need to ask a favor of you.

I said after a moment of silence.

Eliot took a deep breath. He had to move forward, he will find the truth one way or another, he will be strong. "W-h-h-h-what can I d-d-d-o Ov-o-overseer?" he asked.

I was surprised he didn't ask for some time to process the information he just received, he just rolled with the punches... just the kind of man I need.

Quite frankly, Vault-tec screwed us over. All my senior staff was kill as a part of their little experiment and they are the ones responsible for our long sleep cycle. I need you to run the medical clinic, it doesn't have to be permanent but you seem to have the experience to do it.

I say laying the cards on the table and hoping I read the man right.

"Of course, O-o-o-of-of course." Eliot replied. He stood up. "I-i-i-I will m-m-make my way there n-n-n-no-now." He nodded and stepped out of the room in a slight daze.

As I walked Dr. Falk to the door I could see the next man I needed to see waiting in crisp military fashion.

Eric Steele right?

I asked as I poked my head out the door.

He nodded softly and took a step forwards. "That is me. I'm here to offer my assistance in any way that can be of benefit. I'm not sure if Vault Tech has much information on me, but I am willing to discuss how to help."

I was glad for the enthusiasm and hoped he wouldn't be too offended by what I said next.

Actually I have a complete file on you and anyone else that was in one of the stasis pods, thanks to Vault-tec and their never ending experiments.

I say facetiously, then offer him a seat before sitting down behind my desk.

I've already skimmed yours and seen your military experience. I'll be frank, Vault-tec killed all of my senior staff as an experiment and I'm supposed to that experiment as outlined in this.

I say as I pointed to a large file folder on my desk.

God the more I find out about Vault-tec the more I regret saying yes to this job.

I said as he thumbed through the folder until he saw the note I had left him.

Eric read through the file until he reached the note about needing help. He seemed thoughtful for several moments before nodding. "I can help as much as you need me to. I was an NCO as you saw, so I am experienced in leading people. If you like, I can start rebuilding the security force."

He folded up the note and pocketed it. He then pulled out a pen of his own and hummed as he wrote. When he returned it, there was a smile on his face.

"Vault Tech missed a few notes on me. They have been corrected."

After I let out a sigh of relief I say

"That's an excellent idea! I'll gather the necessary personnel files and send the to your computer. Our are somewhat limited but adequate give the situation." After a moment of looking through my desk I pull out a list of weapons that are in the armory and hand it to him.

"Make sure they get into the right hands." I say.
