As a fair start off, I'm looking for folks FAMILIAR with the Elite: XX Universe. There are a FEW pairings that I could work someone unfamiliar with the specifics, but it won't be exactly easy.
I'm looking to play an independent Commander James Ekrug of the Pilot's Federation. A simple smuggler who uses his ship to simply avoid the day to day commitments that most run into. He owes no allegiance to anyone beyond credits. His ship, a Zorgon-Peterson Adder, is neither glorious nor powerful. He's made a FEW modifications to the engines for more speed, and has concealed cargo holds throughout. It's unarmed, leaving the CMDR to rely on his (considerable) piloting skill to avoid any form of legal entanglements. I'd hate to liken him to a Han Solo type, but he fits the bill.
Physically, he's a bit odd. He's spent his life in microgravity (the Elite universe has no fancy artificial gravity, except on the largest of stations) and it's done odd things to him. He's nearly seven feet tall, with a thin, lithe frame. Were it not for his ethnicity, he'd have pale skin - as it is, it's hardly as dark as others of his kin. His eyes are very keen - a practice to identify ships when sensors are down - and he has a kind of sixth sense behind the flight stick of his ship.
I have a few ideas!
-Crossed Paths: Another Commander happens across a wounded and nearly spaced CMDR Ekrug as he frantically tries to get his ship running. He could be taken prisoner, helped by the fellow Pilot, or some other form of Drama that could build into - well, whatever! Themes would include romance, rebellion against the establishment (James HATES authority), and the fact that his cargo hold has close to ten tons of slaves in it! (Safe in stasis pods, of course!)
-Smuggler's Remorse: After getting interdicted by local law enforcement, CMDR Ekrug is lucky to have escaped with his hide. Unfortunately, his ship is hurt. Inspection reveals that nearly all of his cargo - precious minerals, narcotics, and nearly a hundred slaves - has been blasted into space. The only thing left intact is a single Stasis pod and it's lone occupant, a young woman. An odd sense of guilt wracks him as he drags her pod into the warm, pressurized hold of his ship to open her up. It's not like he has a plan of what to do with her, of course - and now he owes more money than he has to exactly the kind of people you don't want to owe money to...so maybe this wasn't such a clean getaway after all... Themes would include slavery, romance, and the on-the-run lifestyle of someone who owes too much.
-An HONEST Job?!: Your character has contracted CMDR Ekrug to transport her somewhere. She's being EXTREMELY shady about why, however, but hey, credits spend - no matter the source. On the way, things become increasingly troublesome for the pair, as who or whatever she's running from edge closer and closer. Is the job worth the Credits? Maybe he'll find something else of value. Themes include romance, mystery, long journeys through deep space, and the eventual confrontation of her 'secret'.
Let me know what's up! I'm always down to discuss!
