[IC] [CLOSED][DEAD]Fresh Crystal Gems

The waves lapped upon the shore, kids played in the arcade, and people walked along the streets of Beach City. Then, darkness came. The city was dark except for the lights that were on. It was if it had suddenly become night. But it hadn't, because a ship had blocked the sun. People fled, and screamed. The ship crashed down on the beach. For months, the people were too afraid to come outside. Grandparents told children the stories of a group called the Crystal Gems, who had protected them for so long. After neglecting to go outside for so long, they finally did, and realized the ship was gone. So they went back to their usual lives, pretending as if it had never happened.

But, of course, it had. And so many years later, new gems would sprout from the soil next to the beach. Because those gem stones had been scattered and sunk into the soil. They would discover what had happened to their ancestors, and what they'd done for Earth. They'd discover who they were, and what their race tried to do many years ago.

It is said that while Gems are being made under the soil, they dream. And what they dream of will be of great importance to them. They might dream of another Gem. They might dream of their weapon. Who knows? But this is really the only time their dreams are ever of importance to them.

Moonstone dreamt of a Gem with black hair and deep blue eyes. A Gem who had an obsidian stone on the back of her right hand. She fights with an obsidian knife. Whose able to use the shadows and cares deeply for her.

Meanwhile, Obsidian dreamt of of Gem with blonde hair and light blue eyes. This Gem had a rainbow moonstone on the back of her left hand. Fighting with a bo made of the stone. Her ability is a shield.

Rainbow Moonstone.

Obsidian rose from the ground, looking around for such a Gem. She yelled out for her. "Moonstone!?"

Moonstone rose from the soil. She heard her name. Wh-what? Who? she thought, looking around for the voice that had called her. It sounded so distant.

Tourmaline's dreams were everywhere. There was bright lights and loud noises, the sound of weapons hitting weapons range through her brain and she was afraid. But there was something that stood out. A brownish gold gem with a slit down the middle. A CatsEye. She had seen it somewhere before, but she didn't know where it came from. Suddenly it all stopped. Her eye blinked open, but she was only met with granules in her face. She couldn't tell what it was. Dirt? Sand? Dust?! She hoped it wasn't dust. He raised a hand and pushed through the soft grains, the light invading the dark and brightening the world around her. She sat up, looking around. Sand, good. At least it wasn't dust. The gem stood, looking around at her surroundings. Water. It had to be a beach of some sort. A... town? Oh yeah, definitely a beach.

CatsEye's dreams were fluffy and comfortable, an image of her chasing something running through her head. Dream her ran into something. Something big and metal. She looked up to see some sort of sword lodged in the ground, and she immediately tried to pick it up. It was stuck, but she didn't care. The gem tugged relentlessly at the handle, and fell back when it finally dislodged itself. There remained a crack where the sword had been, and CatsEye realized that the color was draining from her dream... right into the crack?! She tried to scramble away, but it was too late, she was sucked into the crack and darkness closed in around her. She awoke with a start, her head hitting a rock that was partially underground. "Ow." she muttered, pushing at the rock and dirt above her. She got up, rubbing her forehead. She was all gross and dirty, but she didn't care. She looked around at the grass underneath her, and she tilted her head to the side. "Where... where am I?"

It was there in the distance that Moonstone saw a Gem with black hair and deep blue eyes. She gasped.

Obsidian.

But how did she know her name? Had Obsidian dreamt of her too?

"Ob-Obsidian?" she called back.

Obsidian turned to see the light blue eyed and blonde haired Gem in her long dress running towards her.

"Moonstone!" she yelled, and began running towards her.

They collided, hugging one another.
"But, how, why?" Moonstone wondered aloud.

"What? Why we dreamt of each other? I do not know. But it must've been of great importance. Perhaps we mean so much to each other already. Those aren't the questions to ask now though. The questions to ask are where are we, and are there any others like us?" Obsidian replied.

Moonstone shrugged, before she saw two figures rising out of the soil in the distance.

"There!" she gasped, pointing at them for Obsidian to see.

Obsidian turned around, looking at the two figures.

One of them was an oranged head Gem. One of them was tilting their head to the side, looking around.

"Let's go!" Moonstone said, being to walk towards them.

"Wait," Obsidian said. "Take my hand," she continued, holding her hand out to Moonstone.

Moonstone looked down at Obsidian's hand, then back up at her face. She smiled, taking Obsidian's hand.

Obsidian began to run with Moonstone right behind her before they teleported right under a tree next to the two Gems.

"Woha!" Moonstone yelled, beginning to fall down. Obsidian caught her before she fell. Moonstone blushed. "Thanks," she said as Obsidian propped her back up.

Obsidian nodded, and looked at the other two.

"Hey, we noticed you over here. Either of you know what's goin' on?" Obsidian asked them.

Tourmaline jumped a little at the voice behind her, her hips swiveling to turn her around to meet what was addressing her and... Wait. The CatsEye? The gem looked over to see that there were two others. "Hmm." She ran a hand through her red hair, the strands shifting to show her gem slightly before falling back into place. "Uh. Hi there." she said cautiously. She looked over at CatsEye, raising an eyebrow curiously.

CatsEye looked over happily, the tall gem bouncing excitedly at the sight of new gems. "Oh hi!" she giggled, waving at them. She bounded over, her eyes darting around. "Do you know where we are? I was dreaming and then I hit my head and then I was there and covered in dirt and then I was here." she babbled, making hand movements as she spoke quickly and randomly.

"That's what I wondering," Obsidian replied to the bouncy gem. "I'm Obsidian, and this is Rainbow Moonstone," she introduced them. She wondered why Moonstone wasn't talking, but then she noticed her looking at the cliff behind them.

"What's around there? I see stone popping out from the side like...like an elbow...let's go check it out!" Moonstone explained, running off.

"Wait!" Obsidian called out, running after her and not waiting for their answers. She felt insecure without Moonstone by her side. She wanted to be as close to her as possible.

Blue Topaz slept in the soil, her dreams dim and cold. She wandered the dark alleys of her mind, the sounds of civilization distant and screaming, but her immediate area was silent, and dead. She walked with haste, not knowing where she was going, but drawn in a direction none the less, reeled in by an unshakable feeling of ennui; someone needed her, and she needed someone. She came out onto a major road, abandoned like the rest of the area, streetlights casting pools of light endlessly in either direction. Across the street from her was a dumpy looking motel, it's vacancy sign flickering. This was where she was supposed to go. As she approached the door she could almost make out voices on the other side, muffled, vague and shouting. She pushed open the double doors and burst forth into the conscious world, sandy soil falling off her face.
She blinked in the light and took in her surroundings. Gone were the darkened back alleys, replaced now with a calm, white sandy beach, the waves rolling calmly over it, reflecting the bright sunny sky back in fractals. A bird cried as it circled and she could hear the voices, the same ones from her dream in the distance. She rose from the soil, unburying herself and flickering a few feet to her left, leaving the residual soil behind. She approached the other four gems and raised her hand in greeting.
"Hello." She said, without hesitation. "I'm new around here. Do you know when the orientation tour starts?"

Moonstone rounded the corner of the cliff. She stopped, staring straight up.

"Woha...," she gasped. There was a giant stone statue above her, the stone was very mossy and inside of the cliff. Near the bottom were stairs that had grown moldy and soft. They lead to a house at the bottom of the statue.

"Moonstone!" Obsidian cried, catching up with her. She turned her head towards where she was looking.

"Holy shit...," she trailed off, looking up at the ruined temple with Moonstone.

"YOU GUYS! COME OVER HERE! YOU NEED TO SEE THIS!" Obsidian yelled to the others.

What is going on... they both thought at the same time.

Tourmaline grabbed CatsEye, linking their fingers together and dragging the excited gem after her towards the temple. She looked up, her eyes wide in amazement. "Woah. What the heck?" She muttered.

CatsEye looked around at the rubble and the overgrowth, running a hand through her own hair. "Wow. What happened here..?"

Moonstone walked up the stairs to the house, each one creaking loudly. She was afraid they would break under her. Obsidian followed close behind her. Moonstone walked inside of the house, the door broken. All the wood inside was molded, the couch cushions compressed, and the bed in the loft unsprung, it's pillow too compressed.

"Woha," Obsidian now breathed out. But she wasn't only surprised by how destroyed the place was. She was eyeing the broken warp pad and the door with five gems on it.

Moonstone walked up the stairs to the loft looking around.
Perhaps there is a clue here somewhere to what this place is she thought. She began searching.

Blue sighed as the other gems ignored her wit. To be fair, the massive ancient temple was difficult to compete with for attention. She wandered up into the abandoned structure with the others. She didn't know any of them, but aside from being standoffish, none of them seemed hostile so it felt like the best course of action for now. The interior was rundown and honestly kind of a dump. Still, it looked like it would have been cozy enough in it's heyday. The back of the structure bordered on a stone wall with a stone doorway with no handle set into the rock. She stared at it a moment and kicked it to no avail. She shrugged and turned back to the rest of the detritus.

Tourmaline walked into the broken house, looking around. "Oh my stars..." she muttered. She walked over to the couch and spotted what seemed to be a picture frame. But the picture was torn and damaged by water. All she could make out was the face of a smiling young boy and possibly the feet of three others. She sighed, setting it down. "What happened here...?"

CatsEye walked into what seemed to be a broken down molded over kitchen, a cabinet hanging open with a rotting sticker on it that resembled a sad fruit of some sort. "Wow.." she muttered.

"Ha. Like that would've worked. It's made of stone!" Obsidian said to the Gem who'd kicked the door.

Meanwhile, Moonstone was searching hard. Just when she was about to give up, she looked under the mattress. There, she found a red book with a giant yellow star on the front. The book was undamaged.

What the... she thought. She opened up the book

On the first page was chicken scratch writing that look liked a child's.
Today I moved in with the Crystal Gems! They’re so cool, and I can’t wait to protect the Earth like them!

She flipped through the pages, the chicken scratch becoming more and more clear. She stopped on a page with pictures.

Dad gave me a camera today! I found pictures of him and Mom on it after taking a selfie with the Crystal Gems. The first one is when Dad was younger. The second one is before Mom gave her form up for me. The third is my selfie! Oh, and after that I found a picture of Mom and Pearl. I wonder who took the picture?









Woha....His mom is really pretty. Were these the people who lived here? She noticed that all of the people in the pictures had gems except for the man.

She flipped further through the pages, reading them. So, we're Gems? And we're from a place called Homeworld? She kept reading, gathering more and more information. Until she read the last page.

Whoever finds this, hello. My name is Steven Universe. I’m a Crystal Gem, like Pearl and Garnet and Amethyst. Is that giant statue being to erode, the Temple? That’s where they live, er, lived. I don’t know who you are, but if you’re a Gem please. Please protect this planet for the sake of the people who live here. Homeworld will try to use it but don’t let them. Please. This is my final wish. Use all the information from this diary to help you. Learn from what I learned. Please.

"You guys, you need to read this," Moonstone urgently said, coming down the stairs. She placed the diary open to the last page on the kitchen counter.

Obsidian came over, reading the last page.

Happy to accept a beckoning, Blue walked over to Moonstone and Obsidian. She looked over Moonstone's shoulder and quickly scanned the writing.
"This Steven character sounds like a good kid." She said. "Damn shame he's gone. Looks like Homeworld's up to something nasty."

"But...but why would they do such a thing?!" Moonstone exclaimed.

All of the Gems would be thrown onto the floor as the stone door burst with light, changing and reforming.

When it reformed, there would be six gemstones in the door. Each of their gemstones, plus two more.

@Teddiplier Sunnedly flat on her back, Blue stared up at the ceiling and blinked. Had kicking the door actually done something? She can't imagine it would have. Lifting herself onto her elbows she looked over to the door. It was definitely different from when she had checked it out. There were new patterns on it. She felt strangely drawn to one of them.

As soon as Tourmaline finished reading the page, she was thrown backwards, her back hitting the wall behind her and she fell to the floor. She sat up, rubbing her side gently as she looked up to see that the door had changed. Her head tilted a little as she stood, walking slowly towards it.

CatsEye toppled over, the shock pushing her across the floor. She looked up, pushing herself up on her hands to see what cause the force. Her eyes landed on the door and she smiled. "Woah!"

"Wh-what?" Moonstone stammered, as Obsidian helped her up. "What does this door lead to?" she wondered aloud. She stepped up to it, touching the gem that was hers and it glowed. "Is it supposed to open?" she wondered.
"I don't know," Obsidian replied, walking next to Moonstone and touching hers. Both of their gems on the door glowed and the door opened.
They both stepped back, surprised, and the door closed.
"Someone else try it," Obsidian said.

Blue stepped up to the door, holding out the back of her hand, gem forward. The gem glowed and the door split in two, sliding open. She pulled back hand and the door closed. She moved her hand forward and back several times to similar results.
"What the..." She muttered.
