December, 2015

In a Darkened room somewhere in Capitol City, lit only by the blue 'no signal' screen of a large Television, two men in suits were seated at a conference table. A meeting had just ended. Though both men were middle-aged, they still remained impressively fit. Even when retired from field work, years of being an operative never leaves you.

"We just heard from Senator Fahey." The older of them stated. "He's giving the Green light on detaining Livingston."

The other man was visibly surprised, but pleasantly so. "He's been stonewalling us for months, what changed-"

"It doesn't matter. But we have new intel. The Gauntlet we saw in those photos from the Terrorist Attack? The one that Caused the explosion? Seems it came from her."

"So we capture her, acquire the tech, destroy the files-"

"And rescue the spies we sent in a few months ago. If they're still alive."

"I'll call Special Forces, NSA... I'll get the best for this one."

"No." The older man shook his head, "Upstairs doesn't want us using Government assets on this one. At least, not for all of them. They want outside help. Contractors. Specialists. Even if they're not active-duty Government Operatives. We can't be tied to this. It's totally off the books. Things go bad, the public needs to believe it was Metahuman Radicals, not us."

"I understand. I'll look over some Dossiers and pick out a team." He stood to go.

"Good." The older man turned, "And Archer-" The younger man turned back to hear what else he had to say. "You were half right. You WILL get the best for this one." A brief pause followed. "You'd better.

"There's more going into this than you can imagine."

[CORPORATE SECRETS]

The Rundown:

Livingston Macro is one of the most powerful and successful conglomerates in the world. They do it all - Pharmaceuticals, Media, Entertainment, Private Military, everyday products, and most recently, weapons research. That happens to be the problem.

A crack team of military specialists is being gathered by the United States Government. This squad is being selected from a great many various backgrounds with one integral mission in mind. They have been told that LM has become involved in illegal weapons research - specifically dealing with a type of Gauntlet Weapon that was believed to be involved in a major explosion one year ago. Livingston Macro has gained an unfair advantage over the marketplace and now poses a threat to American Sovereignty and the Government, and Lucy Livingston must be stopped.

As a Member of the team, you will be tasked with pursuing Livingston to her Company's island stronghold, Babel. You must retrieve the weapons research, keep them from producing further weapons, rescue the Government's spies that have gone missing, and most importantly, capture Lucy Livingston. Alive.

As it is Corporate Espionage, this is an entirely deniable mission and if the strike team members are captured or killed, the Government will disavow them completely. For this reason, the team members have been gathered from unusual places, and are often unstable or troubled, making it easier for them to appear as a rogue Terrorist cell should they be exposed. This team is made up of strangers. They are from many walks of life, but they all have a few things in common. One, they are all formidable operators, with a specialty that will make them extremely useful in bringing down Livingston. Secondly, they are all outliers - convicts in prison, psychologically scarred loners, ideological radicals, or burned former government operatives, they all have something that makes them look dangerous on paper; Something the media could point to as a reason for them to band together and go after a major company like this.

Of course, this is only what the Government told the Strike team. In truth, there is a much larger conspiracy in play. A conspiracy which threatens to upend the very order of the world, changing the way society works forever.

Introduction
Hey Guys! Welcome to the first Falling World Roleplay on this site! Although there have been other Falling World roleplays before, some of which even directly tying into this one, This IS a standalone roleplay, so you don't need to worry about jumping in midway through. The nature of the world is pretty simple - it's very much like our world, except much of the supernatural creatures we know of exist in this reality - Vampires, superpowered humans, Werewolves, Ghosts, fairies, even Angels. They existed behind the scenes for centuries, but now, since 2009, they've emerged onto the wider scene, and have been attempting to integrate into society. Since then, there have been wars (Both secret and public), discrimination, industries springing up overnight, and a lot of people playing catch-up. However, many of these races are successfully joining our modern society. Anything more than that that you need to know, you can pretty much ask me! I'll be adding more information in hiders in this or a following post as we move forward.

Your characters will be the team members of this deniable operation. They can be of any age, although children and teenagers aren't really desired, but if you can make it work that's what's important. Not all team members have to be Metahumans - some can be ordinary humans with a special skill or ability that makes them worthwhile. Also, not all characters have to be ex-military or trained, although that would help with the combat. Ultimately your goal in creating the character (beyond being interesting and fun to write, of course!), is two questions - how will they be useful, and what makes them believable as a radical?

The Roleplay

This roleplay itself is going to be a mixture of Action, Espionage, character interaction and major choices. The characters will not always be fighting enemies; they will be sneaking through areas, going undercover and interacting with contacts and targets. Mostly, they will be interacting with Each other! So get cozy with your teammates, they're the only ones you can trust in there (or Can you?). Also peppered throughout the story will be documents and files, photoshopped into existence by myself, that the characters find and read. As the title suggests, the plot will heavily feature the secrets of the company, Livingston Macro, but more widely will deal with the tensions of the changing world during this time, as well as certain character's involvements in a secret war half a decade ago, the results of which are still being felt today. Ultimately the consequences of this mission could impact the entire world. The plot has mostly been hammered out by me and a writing partner, but there it is still amorphous enough to leave room for the characters that you will be making to factor heavily into the plot, and impact the story as it develops. As I said above, the backstory involved the events of previous roleplays but as your characters don't know about it (And will be discovering some info on it over the course of the game), it isn't an issue.

The Character Form

(This is the preferred form for character submissions, if you want to include other information and fields that's fine, but please at least deal with all the matters brought up in this form.

Name:

Age: (They shouldn't be younger than 25, for sure - any exceptions would need a real good reason.)

Gender/Orientation/Race: (A note on Orientation - it's not 'Who might they actually date', it's Who they're attracted to. Even if it isn't going to come up in the roleplay, it's something you should decide about your character)

Species: (Human? Vampire? Augmented Human? Half-breed Mermaid? Telepath? Lopsided Seagull?)

Appearance: (What they physically look like. You can add what they might wear in their daily life as well. Photos help but don't do it all.)

Civilian Life: (What is their current life like? Where do they live? What do they do? What's their day to day, which checkout girl at the grocery store do they flirt with? If they are Military personnel, say that and what their job is or where they are stationed.)

History: (Depends on you how deep you want to get. At the least, you should be describing anything pertinent to their role in the mission and how they got to where they are.)

Four Adjectives to Describe their Personality: (Go In Depth if you like)

Equipment/Other:
