[IC] The Quest for Loki's Rebirth

"NYPD!" Varia Moncourier yells as she detains yet another assailant with her badge and gun. Cuffing the criminal and putting him in the back of a car that drove him off, she sighs and puts her hands on her hips. "Another one bites the dust."

"Wow how many is that now? Like a hundred this month?" Jane's voice came from behind her. Varia turns around to see her friend, with Thor.

"Jane!" Varia exclaims and runs over to hug her. "How ARE you?" She lights up with a big smile on her pretty face. Jane returns the hug and then presents her to Thor. "Meet Thor. Thor, meet my friend Varia, she helped me way back when."

Thor bows. "It is good to meet any friend of Jane's."

Varia looked up at the tall blonde Asgardian with somewhat awe. "You're Thor? I've heard a lot about you. It's nice to meet you too." She returned to pleasantry but still she felt uneasy that he could snap her in two at any moment. Nobody should have that much power. "Jane's lucky to have a hero like you to protect her now. Makes my life easier anyway!" She jokes as Jane pulls out her tongue to her.

"I was thinking, we should let Varia see Asgard a little, you know. As a thank you from us. She's a hard working detective here on Earth and she deserves some down time. And nothing is as good as seeing a new world."

Thor was hesitant. "I dont know. My father would not be pleased..." Jane looks up at him with puppy dog eyes. "Please! I'm the only one who's seen Asgard and no-one believes me. Varia is credible and it gives me someone else to talk to when you're off doing your hero-y things."

Thor sighs. "Alright, but we do not let anyone know she is mortal....When you're ready Heimdall."

Before Varia could protest about going off world, the three were encased in a bright beam of light and suddenly zipped up into space and across into another dimension.

They land in Asgard at the Bifrost gate. Varia's eyes wide and out of breath. "Woah!...Can we do that again?" Jane laughs "That's what I said first time too!"

Thor chuckles. "No wonder you two get along so well. 'Adrenaline junkies'...is the term I believe?" Heimdall gazes at them with disapproval glinting in his golden eyes.

Loki was in his dark cell his eyes narrowed and enraged his lips sewn shut to keep him from opening his mouth anymore not like he ever needed that or something. He could hear some of the guards talking about the stupid prince was coming back with another person other then jane, oh just great. Loki made an illusion in the cell that it was completely empty nothing in sight, other then the chairs and snapped his eyes shut and hoped they passed by fast and leave him the hell be.

He done enough to save thor and her from the dark elf but hell he was stuck back in here after inpersonating Odin and his mouth was swen shut and the mischif had died deep down inside of him. The gleam in his eyes where gone he was justa shell as he awaited death to take him and to never see these fools again. May Odin just take his life now so his own torn suffering could end. he could hear feet and scowled and eyes narrowed seeing them looking at the cell confused, yeah no trickster there to see, now keep going do not look for me.

Thats when thor came forward and Loki scowled slightly eyes blazed a little but said nothing before the iluusion faded and there was the shell of a god sitting as far away as possible his eyes cold and barrien as if nothing else mattered then just sitting and dying.

Thor addressed his brother. "I know you are still in there brother. Somewhere. Deep down." He brought Jane forward. Varia stood back from them, she had nothing to say to the God who attacked her homeland.

"Varia. You have a brother dont you?" Jane turns to ask. Varia simply nods.

Jane had a point to where she was going with this. "And you would never stab him in the back or betray him - would you?"

Varia held her head high and replied heartfully. "I would die for my brother." And Jane smiled smugly and turns to Loki to prove that humans had more morals than even such a powerful being as he. Varia didn't want to look at the God of Lies but her eyes caught his. He was nothing like everyone had said. His sad eyes told her he wasn't a monster, she'd seen enough monsters on Midgard to last her a lifetime. Here he was only suffering.

And in Loki, she did not see what they see...



Her eyes peered into his soul.

All she would see was torment, anger, sadness, rage but deep diown she could also see......s=there was a small spark of good in him hence why he never killed thor or even got close but deep down he never wanted to ever do something like that. He scowled as he looked away from her, madness was all he could fell or hear the screams and rage of other prisoners the only soft voices he heard anymore.

You do not have a brother like I do, tell me next time when your brother sews your mouth shut and tell me that you still love him after everything Spat the chilling voice of the lier his eyes cold andb heartless before his illusion went back up and he was gone ina flash leaving them looking at the emptuy room once more. The god snorted and just stayed dorment and not exsistant. There was a time when he was happy but all that time had vanished very fast and sharply and now was left a cold and butter man behind.

Varia looked down with sadness upon hearing the God's words. Now she could understand somewhat his anger and hatred for Thor. She thought Thor was cocky, arrogant and over confident. His brother was nothing like him. She turns away from the cell and to Jane as they all walked away from the dungeons. "Is there a reason you brought me here?"

"You're the best cop I know." Jane responds "You know better than anyone if Loki is beyond redemption or not."

Varia sighs. "And so the truth emerges at last, Jane Foster. Nobody brings a person to another dimension to thank them." She folded her arms and turns to Thor, as she suspected Jane was doing this for him. "In my experience, it's never fully entirely their blame. There is always someone or something that drove them down this path. No-one is ever born evil." She explained to the golden God of Thunder.

"His eyes tell me that he felt guilt for his actions. Look how he tries to hide himself as though he is ashamed. I think that is a good sign for you, Sir." Keeping it professional and respectful to hide her annoyance at being brought into something that was nothing to do with her. But this was the moment her life changed forever.

Thor nods. "Thank you, Varia. You have enlightened me and I can't tell you how relieved I am that you seem to think there is hope for my brother yet."

Varia raises an eyebrow at him. "You must be prepared to take some of the blame yourself. And..your father Odin was it?" She looked at Jane, she only had to go on what the physicist told her.

The god scowled at her words and kept himself silent and still hating the world before him, why couldn't Odin kill him now ? why wait what torment could be greater then knowing you where a monster? he had to get out of here and he needed to soon or he break the chair and kill himself before any help would care about him. He sighed as he could hear the muttering and talking before his mind went blank he fell intoa deep sleep hoping no one woke him up ever again. What he would do to have the string cut from his mouth so longed to absolutely beat the hell out of thor.

he woke up after a few hours and looked around the cells where empty no one was here and started to pace and wonder the dull cell and thenhe broke the chair in the room as he threw it against the glasss and watched it shatter and sighed as he sat down and made a bimding light magic around him and forced himself to relive the momments he hated most as if those mommetns would kill him after. he cried out in pain when his mouth hurt and sting and he made the magic stop and he sat there alone and distant from all people, sighing and bored he tried to get sleep but the angered voice and snickering of the guards kept him awake.

"Oh how the mighty have fallen hmm?" A woman's voice came from around the corner, she peers around the side to look into the cell. She had been awaiting any movement, it was like any other stake out situation. She held a calm and pleasant demeanor as she walked toward the glass.

"It's hard to believe you almost took over the Earth." Varia smirks. Perhaps this was more to this human than meets the eye.

"Dont worry. Thor and Jane did not send me. I wanted to come back.." She confessed. "I...wanted to help." Then she realised how stupid sounded. "Not that I'm anything special but...Thor and Jane trust my judgement." She puts a hand on the cell and inspects it. Formidable, durable, magic proof. Certainly Thor proof.

"I may not be able to release you, that is not within my power. However, I could maybe help sway those who do?" Varia insisted. She was used to dealing with liars and monsters, for some reason she wanted to help Loki. She wasn't sure sure he was all to blame for his actions. She could try to vouch for him.

Oh you silly silly CHILD ! I got nothing else to loose, i am to rot away while bthe world turns without me. So if you be a dear and be so kind as to not talk to me ? I have suffered enough as is and I definately do not need to suffer trying to get helped he said venomously his voice was dark and cunning not a lie as if he didn't want her hurt because of him/ He had many foes that no mortal can deal with.

He sighed as he grunted and looked away his foot had nasty cuts on it but what he did care about was that long lost howl he could hear far far off in the mountaisn of Asgard. he could hear Fenrir was suffering as well and it broke his heart he would get out if it was the last thing he did. He could do it and he would do it. He sighed and sat down and rubbed his head unable to do more then speak into minds his owrds where no longer lies but truth as his silver tounge made all his words lies even against his will.

Let me just die, no one needs me anymore what good is a broken god anyway ? huh mortal you can't even begin to think or the pain I suffered for the longest time or you can't heal it either. There are scars too deep to heal now

"The only person who can help you, is yourself." Varia replied in kind coldness. "Everyone who has ever tried to help you. You've pushed away. Thor told me all about it. I only heard his side of the story. I wanted to hear yours but if that's all you have to say for yourself I am truly disappointed. I could have been your way out." She sighed.

"You could have told me what to do in my mind without anyone suspecting a thing." Varia smiled and opened her arms, shaking her head in disappointment. "If you don't need my help then I'll just go." She bowed sarcastically to the great god and turned to leave.

"I guess you don't believe in second chances...."

Chances are no longer my options child, i have none and i never been given any and how could if i'm locked away in a cage like an animal. If you want to help me try but i will promise you no good results in effort. Didn't thor tell you all the true stories guess not i don't blame him too cowardly to bring himself up and tell the burning truth but I guess thats what all you mortals do, give up when a challenge is too great. Good by Miss, I hope to never see you again he cooed in her mind mockingly before watched her leave and smirked, finally peace and quite not like he needed a help of a stupid mortal that was for sure. he flopped on a chair that was back in the cell and collasped and relaxed in it happily eyes closed. Now all he had to do was wait for the right chance and right time, might be magic proof but Loki isn't only skilled in magic that was for sure.

(she could just break him out against his will XD and drag him to earth saying ahe is only allowing him to stay for a year and if he doesn't change within that time he is right back up in Asgard.)

Varia had seemingly left the cells. But not long after the cell's barrier descends and opens for Loki. Followed by the sound of Asgardian alarms.

Suddenly Varia steps into view. "Hurry up come on! We gotta get outta here!" She ushered him. If he did not escape with her, another would die at his hands for not acting. She was banking on him really wanting to redeem himself.

As she had left the cell, she pondered life and the meaning of it. If she had walked away now she would never forget Loki's face, his melancholy state. She would be in a lot of trouble, probably be put to death for this action. But she had lived a life of adventure already, she had no-one to leave behind except her brother who would survive. Some things were much bigger than her own petty existence. This was a war of Gods.

And so, she made the decision to help him without his consent. She flagged down a guard and pretended she was lost. She fluttered her eyelashes at him whilst he was showing her the way out, she unhooked his key to the dungeon control panel that operated the barrier doors. He didn't notice she had removed them when she gave him a lovely smile that could melt even an Asgardian male. Human women were not to be underestimated.

He was a bit pissed she came back, how dare she come back, what was going to do fucking mock him again ?! he was ready to blast her when the cell barrier dropped and raised an eyebrow. He said nothing as he couldn't say anything at all his mouth sown shut. And he wasn't going to say anything he just wanted to curl up and die right now .but the girl seemed to be refusing the idea. He huffed as he followed her wondering how in the world she thinks she was going to pass Hamdell without him alerting everyone that Loki was free from his prison and that she was the reason of it. I mean had she thought any of this through even the only way back to earth was for hamdell to open the portals and belive me Hemdell was more loyal to King Odin and Prince Thor then any mortal lady or Loki ever and passing him was like passing a wall .

Varia ran as fast as she could through the palace halls. Little did they know they had help in the far background. Thor stopped any guards pursuing them. Jane watched them running for the bi-frost gate. She turns to Thor. "You really think this will work?"

"Do not fret. Perhaps seeing a mortal who has more morality than a God can change his perspective on life..." Thor replies as Varia and Loki get nearer to Heimdall. The Golden Guardian stands tall and firm.

"Halt in the name of Asgard." He booms and slams his sword down on the floor.

Varia skids to a halt, getting out of breath. Surely the Trickster had some tricks up his sleeve to get past this guardian...again.

Loki huffed gently as he looked at hamdell and spoke in his mind For the name of Asgard let us pass, or so help me hamdell I'll freeze you all over again. Besides I need some fresh air oh great Gardian Snorted the god eyes narrowed slightly his mocking voice was always there ready for action but seeing Hamdell was not going to budge the god sighed as he made a small glowing ball appear in his hands.

You might want to close your eyes miss he huffed gently as the ball flew open releasing light that would blind anyone but loki kept himself safe as Hamdell was holding his eyes shut loki grabbed her and ran to the Bio frost with the sword and got it to earth. He looked back and sighed deciding he miught as well thank him he spoke to thor mentally.

Thanks, really and truly....Thanks he said slowly and then with that Loki and the NYPD officer vanished into the bio frost and slammed into earth at shocking speed. But they where not harmed from the impact because loki didn't wish it. the god grunted in pain collasping to the ground in a lot of pain.

Varia coughs as she landed with Loki. She looked up, her hair being thrown back over her shoulders. She huffs out of breath and looks at him.

"How's your healing powers? Can you un-sow your mouth?" She asks as she pants, holding onto her knees. "Otherwise I can take you to a hospital."

She looked around, she was happy to be back in New York, standing on a city street with the weird Asgardian circle with symbols under their feet. It was a dull and grey day here.

Loki groaned in pain and shook his head, she had to remwmber he had not used magic in a long time and the sewn up lips had to be cut and taken out which was if not more painful then getting them placed in. he didn't want to go to a hospital that was for sure but without healing he couldn't do anything else then just groan in morbid and unbelivable pain. he closed his eyes before fallibng still out cold from impact and tiredness.

Varia kneels and keeps Loki's head from off the floor. Her first aid training coming in really useful. She dialled 911 for the ambulance and she went with him to the hospital.

The next he awoke, his stitches were out of his mouth and bruised, reddened lips but had been treated for inflammation and bleeding. And Varia would be sitting right next to him in the chair asleep, as it had been a long while he was in there.

Loki let out a shriek when he woke up. His body jolting in souch pain from his lips. He jolted from the bed collapsing to the ground in a lot of pain. He groaned and was pissed off.

"Where .....where am I?"

"AGH! GET OFF ME!" Varia screams herself awake and points a gun up at the air, then relaxes seeing it was Loki who startled her. "You're in the hospital. Had to get your mouth fixed. You're welcome by the way." Varia stands up and holsters her gun.

"Now I see that you're fine. Let's get one thing straight, buddy." She leans in to him with cold eyes. "You ain't no boss of me. And I didn't bring you here just so you can mess up again. I believe in second chances and Lord know's I've given too many of those. But you EVER so cross me or this world again. You're straight back to Asgard in that forsaken prison, begging they put you out of your misery." Varia threatens.

"You've got one year to prove your worth." She tells him firmly.

"can't i just go back to the damn prison anyway ? I mean what the fuck am I to do here huh ? what can i do pick roises and give it to people. if you think for a bloody second that I am going to go crawling to those avengers you can go kiss my ass" he said sharply the room grew extreemly cold very very fast ice forming on everything . he scowled and dropped the ice and scowled slightly.

"this is so stupid ! what the hell would I do get a job and do something for ayear woopy I might as well just watch my life waste away trying to be a normal peron. You can;t change who you are or what you are girl" he said sharply at her fangs glowing sharply before he scowled slightly. This was so stupid what was she hoping to accomplish here.

"fuck worth i will not be worthy in anyones eyes anymore do you know how many times I fucked UP in my life and how they hold me for all of that huh" he screamed sharply the winfow cracked as he scowled and sat stubbornly on the floor.

"why couldn't have have let me stay in that prison girl why why why" he groaned angrily.
