I'm working on a story. It's just in the notes/outline stage right now but I'd love an rp of a similar nature.

The idea was inspired by the anime Sword Art Online. Basic premise for the story is that 5 years after the release of a popular VRMMO a cyber terrorist attack had caused over 100,000 players to become trapped within the game. They cannot leave without dying and if they die in game they die in the real world.

There's a lot more going on of course and for the sake of an rp game mechanics would need to be simple and a solid honor system to ensure players don't try to cheat. I'm unsure how this would work really.

The game would be more story driven with game mechanics as a secondary thing really. I know I'm not giving a lot of details yet but I'm just wondering what people think of the idea as a whole?

Ever since SAO, there's been a huge number of stories being released off the virtual reality/trapped trope and they've all done different takes on it.

It's honestly next to impossible to get any tract on it when you're competing against Log Horizon, Legendary Moonlight Sculptor, Overlord and etc.

Which shows you've yet to even to watch or read the mainstream material of a genre that's rapidly becoming mainstream. You can also check out http://royalroadl.com/ where people have been doing what you're trying to do. It's where people post they own self written fiction. The top stories here have even gathered donations that come up to several hundreds.

The story was actually secondary to thinking it'd make a fun rp. But I'll look into this. I've been working on the outline of the series I intend to write and just hashing out how to mesh real world plots with game world plots and interactions.

Plus the game mechanics within the virtual world need to be simple enough but still thought out so I'm just building the world and the story. Haven't actually started writing it yet.
