RPGC #6: The NaNo One!

I just reached 15,000 today, but I started four days late, and I'm getting closer and closer to that "You're not failing horribly" line every day. Just finished the hardest scene I've had to do: a guy checking in at a hotel. The next one I'm doing should be easier, since it's said guy trying to teach an alien English.

I gave myself permission to slack off today, because I did 3000 yesterday and there's a local write-in tomorrow. Then the write-in got cancelled. So now I'm just trying to get a few hundred words in, just so I don't lose too much ground, and wouldn't you know.... surprise character development pops up. This is going so well.

Uh. I might toss in a surprise entry into this. Sure I'm entering with 20 days left of NaNoWriMo, BUT I am in the midst of an outline and things are coming together. Epic Sci-Fi with Mechs anyone?

Well, I just finished a couple thousand more words. I'm at 17k now, and I'm planning on getting on track by Friday now, which is two days earlier than I had expected!

annnnnnd my computer has crashed. Fantastic.

Ouch, I had that happen to me the day I started, actually. It just stopped turning on. Luckily, I had been writing online (and by that, I mean I was using a PM to myself, because I've gotten wayyyy to used to this site's system), so I managed to keep everything despite the fact that my computer is currently undergoing a week-long diagnostic. I hope you didn't loose too much.

@mdk That's awful! I hope you didn't lose too much. If you like, I can offer some suggestions - but my feelings won't be hurt if you don't. :3

I'm going to go hang out with a fellow writer this evening. I expect we'll be talking a lot about cats and having tea, and I also expect we'll get our words done for today. She's considerably ahead of me toward the 50,000-word goal, but while we both write professionally, she's an actual, has-an-agent author, so I'm hardly surprised. :3

Best of luck for Day 11, everyone! 18,337 words for today. We're a third of the way through!

It's the motherboard, which means I haven't *LOST* anything, other than I guess the ability to compute until the replacement comes in. It's just sapping my motivation. I'll get back up soon enough.

18.481 words yesterday! And hot cocoa, and good company, and ferocious weather. Nice to get out of the house, though. :3

I do all of my writing on a laptop, but I suppose we all have different tastes.

I'm only at 19,192. I had some monstrous writer's block when I realized that I shouldn't have made the happy-go-lucky guy a spy.

I think I can count past 20,000 as the second big milestone. :3 Almost 20,500 words, but I need to go refresh my tea and I think I'll just do a little more outline refinement for now. Things are still going entirely swimmingly - for me as the author, anyway. Our heroines are in less dire straits, and they have a few more answers, but those answers are only leading to more questions.

I sort of love this story. :3

I still haven't made many big problems yet. But they're coming, soon, in the form of blatant Cold War parallels.

I'm gonna try to find a better way/place to work tomorrow. I cannot get a *thing* done just now. Settled in for kind of a minor turning-point in the book and all I could do was outline it instead.... the good news, though, is it's a 700-word outline and I dug up a bunch of killer research items that'll turn it into gold later. So the day's not wasted, but my wordcount came in a fairly disappointing number. Oh well. 17,380 (estimating, because I can't get at the bulk of my NaNo until the new motherboard arrives)
