The Indian, who is to be my character more-or-less, is an Apsáalooke (Crow) badé (look it up...), who served as a US scout during the Civil War, he isn't really armed - although does have a tomohawk somewhere on his person - and may or may not be connected to Fort McIntosh. Also, while he may look like a woman, he'll kill ya...so there is that.
Hugo, as stated, is a bigoted ex-Confederate veteran who - due to his record and rather no nonsense attitude - was put into a sort of 'overseer' position in Laredo; not an actual Sheriff in the sense of the word, he is the closest thing the town has to a lawman, having to use the riff-raff of the town's dregs to enforce justice.
Tne posse is also gathering in the street, so anyone who wants to join them can go up and interact at their leisure.
