The Portal: Ancients of the Past

It all started in 2012, January 21st. Portals just randomly began appearing around the world leading to god knows where. Creatures came out from the portal, horrific creatures that one could never could never begin to explain. On the 3rd of March, a group of specialist scientist identified that these portals were not only leading to the past, but to the future as well. The creatures that were coming out from the portal were apparently prehistoric creatures, as well as creatures that had evolved, living in a time where humans are extinct. On the 25th of June, the group called Portal announced that the portals were leading to alternative time lines. On the 1st of September, the group called Portal announced that all the portals had been dealt with, and no more will ever open. Now, today, on the 20th of November, the group, Portal have disbanded. Nobody knows where they have gone. No more portals has opened since, everything has gone back to normal, but for how long?

So, in this Rp, there have been portals opening that lead to the past and future. They also lead to alternative time lines. When the Rp first starts, it will be the normal, everyday life, until the portals begin to open again. Then, a new group will form, and will have to try and figure out how to stop the portals, but that may change, as the secrets of the portals are revealed.

You will not been playing as any of the previous members of Portal. So, who's interested?

Thank you for responding so quickly! I apologize for being so direct, but if I may provide some criticisms to make this idea more likely to draw people in?

The current choice you're providing is letting people either play a traveler from across time and space, or... a random guy who will be offered a chance to join an amateur time crime-solving organization built off scraps from another, more powerful time-crime organization. It's fairly easy to see who most players would choose to be. Personally, I feel that letting the original Portal survive into the present and making it so that people can join it will make playing a character from the present more appealing. It'll go from "time travelers and schmucks" to "time travelers and paranormal agents", which is a much harder decision to make and would allow for players to make characters with the knowledge and resources to get down to business easily.

In addition, making it so that the RP starts before the dookie hits the fan may end up costing you players in the long term. From what I've seen, RPs that force players to have a "slice of life" day generally bleeds a good-sized number of players out before any of the interesting stuff can occur. Perhaps starting the RP after the portals begin popping up in earnest would keep players' interest and motivation in longer, as they've definitely got something they can do with that.

In short: to make it most likely for players to get motivated and energized, make it so that the "present" side of the game are already agents of Portal, and make the game start after time travelers have already started appearing.

Interested. What creatures and such can come out of the portal? Vampire? Werewolf? Xenomorph? Predator? Goblin? Etc.

Things like future predators, for example, Primeval, some VERY dangeerous dinosaurs, for example, Quetzalcoatlus, which is the biggest flying dinosaur ever to exist, Spinosaur, which is the biggest land dinosaur. There will most likely be some sort of Xenomorph too.

There will be like, one, maybe two posts of everyday life. @Scrapula You wanted to play somebody who comes from the portal. I have an idea for you so I will Pm you the details, but, would you create somebody from the normal world too?
