Name: Itsugaya Kiyoshi
Age: 17
Birthday: Don't worry about it
Sexuality: Bisexual
Year level: 10
Disabilities: Mute
Job/occupation: Amateur Street Performer
Personality: Almost always appears calm and collected with a neutral expression adorning his face. His thoughts are quizzical and curious, the mind of a tinkerer and his ears are always listening for the next sound to be heard. A big fan of music in all its forms and wonders (particularly obsessed with Infected Mushroom and synth sounds) and a bit of a computer geek.
Backstory: Kiyoshi was born into a well respected family known for their voices, ironically enough he came out silent. While he was never rejected for his inability to speak, he never felt like he belonged, like he was the black sheep in the family. Kiyoshi's uncle was the only person he ever felt comfortable around, probably because rather than using his voice, Itsugaya Koto played instruments. Kiyoshi heard sounds and wonders that not even the voice could produce and he fell immediately in love with music.
For as long as Kiyoshi remembers, he's been playing music, perfecting it's art, giving himself a voice of his own. He would play in front of small crowds, among groups of friends, or record music himself late into the night. Despite having found his own voice, he still didn't feel he truly belonged, and still having to go to school, it was becoming increasingly frustrating trying to communicate with classmates and teachers. His parents found the 'solution' a school deep in the mountains, Yamaku Academy; perhaps here, Kiyoshi would find his home.
Notes:
-Uses Sign Language
-Owns a Keyboard, a small drum and a Spanish Guitar (has a personal attachment to the guitar)
-Has a sweet PC rig with a recording set

Name: Katsumi (given name) Mori (surname)

Age: 17

Birthday: April 1st 1998

Year level: 11

Sexuality: bisexual

Club (if any): literature club, art club

Disabilities (if any): Struggling with anorexia since the young age of ten has left Katsumi's body broken and full of holes. She has numerous heart complications including an abnormal heart rhythm, loss of muscle mass and mitral valve prolapse. In addition she has lost significant bone density and has lost her ability to bear children permanently. She is able to walk and perform basic functions but cannot participate in any strenuous activities. On occasion when the day has been too tiring she uses a wheelchair, but tries to avoid it as her her arms are weak and she doesn't like to ask for help. She must have her heart checked regularly and takes numerous medications to ensure her health, however her life expectancy has dropped significantly. It is suspected by psychiatrists that a mild form of OCD combined with other triggers was the cause of her eating disorder, however she refuses to speak with doctors or therapists so not much is known.

Job/occupation (if any): For her age, Katsumi is a talented artist and makes a small amount of money from time to time selling prints of her paintings online. It gives her a sense of purpose but more often frustrates her because she feels she shouldn't let others see her work until it's perfect.

Appearance:

5'6", dark brown hair, green eyes and pale skin. Visibly underweight but not concerningly so anymore.

Personality: Before the onset of her disorder, Katsumi was a bright, lively and creative girl. However, developing such a life changing problem at a young age has left her a completely different person. When she isn't tired, she is usually anxious and deals with it by drinking cup after cup of tea and pacing through the halls in the middle of the night. In her depression she might also retreat into her books and art to create a world she feels happy in. When she's tired, she feels like she doesn't even have the energy to speak to others, and wanders through the school like a pale ghost, hoping she'll be invisible enough so that no one will bother her. As you can see, in any of these scenarios there's no room for others. She does still talk to her parents, but she's pushed everyone else out of her life to cut down on stress and complications. She mostly eats a normal amount now, pushed by fear of further health issues, but refuses to eat anything but what she usually does and will retreat to a closet or space where she can lock the door to make sure she is alone. If anyone did become close to her they would learn that when she's feeling well she has a sharp wit, an eye for the obscure and a good sense of humor, though it can be dark. She has a deep love for cats because she feels they understand her avoidance of other people and sensitivity. Deep down she loves cute things and dressing up, but doesn't like to draw attention to herself so she will usually wear grey hoodies instead.

Backstory: What is known about her is very little, but from what is understood, she came from a normal, middle class family. Others suspect they aren't as normal as they appear, due to the mental health of their daughter, but no one will confirm it as the topic is sensitive. She came to the acadamy after her health stabalized and she began eating regularly. Her parents hoped that being around other disadvanteged children would help Katsumi cope. In reality it just depresses her, but she doesn't want to burden her parents so she keeps quiet about it.

Notes: The best way to approach her is to quietly read or do other non intrusive activities in areas she frequents and slowly build up to talking to her.

Name: Honda Tomoyo

Age: 16

Birthday: December 14th

Year level: 10

Sexuality: Homosexual

Club (if any): None

Disabilities (if any): Tomoyo was born without her lower legs. Rather than use prosthetics as a substitute, she prefers to use her wheelchair to get around.

Job/occupation (if any): Part-time chef at the Shanghai

Appearance:

Tomoyo is thinly built, her only noticeable muscle mass being in her arms. Her dark brown hair is usually kept short and unstyled, giving her a more tomboy-ish look, and her eyes are a dull blue-gray. She has a strong disdain for the cold, and because of this, she tends to wear heavier clothes outside of school, such as sweaters and pants. Even in warm weather, she likes to bring a light jacket or shawl with her, in the event that the temperature is too low for her (which it usually is).

Personality: Tomoyo is definitely the outdoorsy type, even in less than stellar weather. She spends a lot of her free time out and about, always on the lookout for new places to see. She is also wildly fascinated with the occult, though this is more of a side interest, and not something she brings up or talks about often. Her absolute favorite thing to do, however, is to cook, which is something she's become quite skilled at over the years. Culinary is one of the few things she's truly dedicated and passionate about, so much so that she's made it her goal to open her own restaurant one day.

In general, Tomoyo is a very relaxed and fun-loving person. She goes about her life with a very calm attitude, no matter how hectic things may be. Very rarely does she ever become frustrated or stressed, and has proven to be very patient and understanding of others. On the downside, her carefree lifestyle often leads to her slacking off and procrastinating, which can cause problems when it comes to her studies. She also has a habit of zoning out and daydreaming at random, though this more commonly happens when she's by herself or if she's simply bored enough.

Tomoyo is always trying to do things on her own, not bothering with asking others for help unless she feels it's truly necessary. This, combined with her procrastinating ways, often means plans and projects of hers are left unfinished for long periods of time. She is not one to give up easily though. Instead of giving up entirely, she simply goes and does other things, then comes back to whatever she was doing later on. It may take her a lot longer, but she always manages to finish the things she's started, regardless of the setbacks.

Despite her reluctance to ask her peers for help, Tomoyo is not one to shy away from conversation. You might need to speak to her first, but once you do, she's more than happy to keep a conversation going, so long as the topic is entertaining enough to her. And it usually is, unless the subject is something truly boring. Although she's fine with talking to people, Tomoyo is more of a listener, and prefers to sit back and let other people do the talking.

Backstory: Shortly after Tomoyo was born, her parents broke up after just three years of marriage. While this never had a very negative effect on her growing up, she did end up being a lot closer to her father than her mother, as her mother was often away on business trips, and as a result was unable to spend very much time with her daughter. Instead, she spent the majority of her adolescence living with her father, one floor above the fishing shop he owned and still owns to this day. Whenever he came home from his monthly trips to the lake one town over, Tomoyo was always eager to help him cook whatever he'd caught, which is where her interest in cooking first began.

For a long while, Tomoyo was highly unmotivated and bored with her life. She was barely passing in school, and had very few friends that she actually spent time with outside of class. The only thing that she seemed to enjoy was cooking, though she originally didn't feel like it would take her anywhere. That all changed when her father enrolled her in Yamaku Academy, hoping that she might do better with her studies in an environment geared more towards her. Although the change didn't help her necessarily, taking on a part time job at the Shanghai seemed to be the kick she needed to re-motivate herself. She still tends to slack off in school, but she's more determined to do better now that she feels she has a purpose.

Notes: An easy way to get your things broken is to hand it to Tomoyo. Unless she knows how to use it, she will try to figure it out on her own. And she will more than likely break it.

She may slack off a lot in school, but Tomoyo does try to keep her grades at least at a C average.

Name: Katsuro Takuma
Age: 18
Birthday: 21st of May
Year level: 12
Sexuality: Hetero
Club (if any): Student Council

Disabilities (if any): Burns to the right side of his face, although skin grafts have made them almost unnoticeable. His right eye is completely ruined, and he chooses to wear an eyepatch to make up for it. He is also missing his little finger and ring finger on his right hand, This doesn’t faze him very much. He learned to write with his left anyway. He has a slight limp in his left leg as well. They don't affect his daily life much, although they do cause him to be quite clumsy at times. He doesn't particularly care about that either.

Job/occupation (if any): N/A (although hes looking to change that)

Appearance: A boy of approximately 6’2, with jet black hair that is cropped short. His remaining eye is a vivid purple colour. The skin grafts on the right side of his face are ever so slightly paler than the rest of his face, although they are not visible unless they are observed closely. He also has several small scars on the right side of is face, but they, again, are hard to distinguish. He wears a black eyepatch over his ruined eye. His right arm and hand have skin grafts too, although the scarring is considerably more prominent there. He is fairly thin and dounst have a great deal of muscle on his body, with his features being somewhat sharp.

Personality: Katsuro is the sort of person you just cant dislike. He is always cheerful, polite and helpful to just about anyone he meets. Unfortunately, he isn’t very good at the being helpful part. He has only been at the school for about a year and a half, but he has already gained a reputation as someone as someone who you should not share your problems with, as he will end up making them worse with his “Help”. He is secretly and painfully aware of this, but puts on a normal face to hide it. Hes also quite a avid shipper in the school, which, with the aforementioned skills, goes about as well as you expect. He is cheerfully oblivious to the fact that people might not want to end up together, having a very black and white view of romance. Despite this, most people consider him a delight to be around, despite the fact he doesn't have any good friends.
Hes never had a girlfriend either, although he does have a fair few admirers for his cheerfulness and the fact that he wears an eyepatch for actual medical reasons instead of just wanting to look mysterious.

His main hobbies include reading, playing video games and eating sweet things. He also likes to write short stories, although he keeps the last hobby secret from other people due to being slightly embarrassed about their quality. Hes also quite a good cook, despite only bothering to make desserts. His diet composes of sugar, meat and not much else.
He also has a extreme dislike of hospitals and other medical environments. He can go inside them, but he quickly becomes jumpy and generally starts to make stupid excuses for leaving within the first ten minutes. After thirty, he becomes rather stressed and even snappish.

Backstory: Katsuro's backstory...is not a happy one.

He was born to a turbulent household, with his mother and father in an unhappy marriage even before his birth, of which his arrival into the world did not help. His first four years of life are remembered as little more than a unpleasant haze. He has no idea what they argued about, and has decided that it is best if he never does find out. The only happy memories he can remember was when he learned to read at age three.

Two weeks before his sixth birthday, his mother left, allowing custody to pass to his father without any opposition. He distinctly remembers his father breaking the news to him over a round of chocolate milkshakes. His father then raised him on his own despite having a low paying job. It was this time that he devloped a taste for sweet things, as treats were a luxury that he could rarely afford. However, his father managed to get a higher paying job at an insurance firm, and things began to look up.

Unfortunately, it didn't. When he was thirteen, a gas leak in his housing block resulted in an explosion, killing four people, his father included. Katsuro was burned over his face and torso, with a splinter damaging his right eye and two of his fingers being burned very badly. When he finally woke up in hospital, the medics had removed his damaged fingers and eye after infection began to set in, leaving him alone, half blind and scared.

Since then, he has been passed between foster families and orphanages, with several families looking to adopt him, but none following through. His mother remarried and doesn't want anything to do with him.

He was sent to the academy a year and a half ago once it was decided he needed a good education, and has loved every minute of it. He cant understand why some people might not like being at the academy. He hasnt got any good friends, but most of the people he knows like him anyway for his cheerful attitude.

Notes: He is completely fine with people mentioning his missing eye and scars, and actively encourages people to say whatever they like about them. However, mention the limp in his leg makes him go extremely quiet, and can even get incredibly angry if the subject is pressed. When hes sad, he eats ice cream. Lots of it.

Name:
Yoshi, Jiro

Age:
18

Birthday:
7/08

Year level:
11

Sexuality:
Heterosexual

Club:
None

Disabilities:
Epilepsy - Seizures can be induced if he is under lots of stress, dehydration, and intense strobe lighting. They can happen even if none of the triggers are present. He has a tough time remembering what happened during seizures and sometimes doesn't remember them at all, though it's not hard to tell if he has had one or not. He also become really tired after one tends to accidentally fall asleep.

Job/occupation:
Grocery Store Clerk

Appearance:

Jiro is 6 feet tall and has decent muscles, though nothing to brag about. His most noticeable feature besides the red hair, is his big scar that runs from his left side of his neck to the front of his chest, stopping just before his right thigh. It starts going straight down his then slowly curved to the right.then going diagonally in a straight line and ends. His eyes are deep sea blue as well and tends to dress in classy outfits, but wears them loosely so there comfortable. He still has his piercings from his time in North America and also wears a few wristbands which was quite fashionable at his school, though he's not one who obsessed over what he looks like to others. One wristband has his name, address, blood type, disability, phone number and instruction on what to do if he has a seizure.

Personality:
He is very reckless and never thinks about the consequences of his actions. He's looks real menacing but he's a kind person at heart but when he talks he seems like he's not really there, if you know what I mean. He doesn't care for school, he feels like they teach him useless stuff and he would skip it if he had something better to do. He is a B+ student though he retains most of the knowledge from the books he has read. He values very little but will do anything to keep the thing he does value. He also keeps most problems to himself whether big or small and it's hard to get him to spill anything on a secret.

He is enjoys reading books in his downtime or goes out to the store to earn some extra money. His relationship with his family if very distance and lives alone in a small apartment. His family still sends allowance and sometimes something extra on a holidays but that's the extent of it. His allowance is big but enough to pay rent and for the food but not enough to support all his needs. Most of the money he does make from his job goes to his medicine so he doesn't have much money to spend on luxury items.

His goal in life is to live it to the fullest. He loves to learn things that are in the moment or he can actually apply to his life, like cooking was one thing he learn and still loves to learn more about, for a example. The thing that seems to make him the most happy is to make others happy or just silence and sitting down, relaxing.

Backstory:
Jiro was born and raised in Miyagi Prefecture. He lived with his mother and father and with his grandma and grandpa of his father's side. They were more on the poor side of the middle class just barely getting by. When he was about the age of 3 his parents were offered a job that would make them a lot more money. They accepted it even though they knew they would rarely be home. They did get paid a lot more but then after a few months they had to start paying for the trips they needed to take. From there on there his grandparents raised him, with there life style slightly better.

At the age of five around summer time he was watering the plants when he suddenly fell down and began thrashing around, it was his first seizure. They took him to the hospital but at first the doctors said that he was fine. They said it was normal for someone to have one once in there life. After a few more quick test they released him. About two days later he had another and then the doctors took it more seriously. After about a 3 day study and a MRI they concluded that he had epilepsy. During this time his grandparents beg his parents to come and see him but they were to busy with work. They prescribed medicine for Jiro to take daily and released him.

The medication help stop the seizures but the bigger he grew the more pills he needed and the worse the seizures got. He felt self conscious about his epilepsy and did a surprisingly good job hiding it from most of his peers. He was usually able sense when he was going to have one by getting this weird aura or getting a metallic taste in his mouth, so he ran outside the classroom and had it in the middle of the hallway. His keep this up till he was in 6th grade when he had one with no warning. The staff was already told of his condition but now the entire school knew. Not much changed though since he was usually a loner in school to begin with. He did have a few friends that knew beforehand that he had epilepsy, so he looks back at it like it was a silly thing to do as a kid.

At the age of 14, About 5 days before Christmas, his grandma died. They had a funeral and such and for the first time in 2 years he saw his dad. He gave Jiro a hug and told him that mother couldn't make it and that he was going on another trip. He took up the job of preparing meals for his grandpa for a few months until he got caught in a accident. No one is sure how exactly it happens but as far as he has been told is that he was found on the kitchen floor, bleeding, especially around the neck, and was rushed to the the Emergency Room. They assume he had a seizure when trying to prepare dinner. They estimated it would take 2 months to recover, but it took three times longer due to the frequent seizures reopening the wounds and the different types of medicine they needed to try, do to the increasing seizures. During this time his grandpa die as well. His parents made a decision to sell the house and most of the things in it and rent a apartment since they needed to pay the hospital. His parents only came to see him once and only to tell him about there decision. For the rest of the school year he didn't show since he knew he would be unable to catch up on all the missed work and lessons so he fell a year behind.

He retook 7th grade in North America since his dad happen to be working there at the time. He "lived" with his dad, even though he rarely came home from work. His dad eventually went on a trip again this being the last time he has seen his dad and live there till the end of 10th grade. The day of his 18th birthday he demanded that they buy him a apartment and plane tickets, since he was now legally a adult, so he could go back and take school at Yumaku academy. They agreed and went back to his home town, bringing us to the present.

Notes:
Bringing up any injury that he has and he will immediately shut you out and sometimes also walk away. New injury appear every so often. A recent doctor visit also brought him unsettling news of his future.
