Opening Post

It was just another day in the Soul Society however this time it was a little different. Usually the skies are crystal clear with endless blue sky extending to the ends of the world but today only gray skies were apparent, the lighting was dull and depressing and the rain just seemed to never let up. This was always an odd change from the usual picture perfect blue skies but it was welcomed by some and others...not so much. It was windy and cold and that didn't get on with some people but others loved it...a perfect time for some trouble to happen and of course with this dull and depressing weather came a bounty of hollow dying to sink their teeth into the innocent souls that inhabit the Soul Society but the Shinigami were wise to this and showed up to do their job and exterminate the threat with maximum efficiency whilst taking as little casualties as possible but casualties in a job like this were inevitable.

The Shinigami dealt with this seemingly minor threat well showing that they, although in little numbers, were skilled enough to take on many hollow at one time and prevail without suffering serious injury or wasting time. The hope and responsibility for this generation of Shinigami is high but with this high responsibility they in turn have become far more skilled than the previous generations and if this standard can be held as numbers grow then the Shinigami, Soul Society and Gotei 13's chance of balancing the worlds and defeating powerful enemies will be high but nothing is ever that easy now is it?

Now the Shinigami after a hard days work return from all edges of the Soul Society to the capital and also the home to the Gotei 13...The Seireitei. The place in itself is a fortress and scattered among the land are the Barracks of many Squads which hold many Shinigami but some are different than the others...they stand out and show promise of becoming some of the greater and stronger Shinigami and this story follows them as they take on everything from everyday life to life or death battles...even romance is often apart of the scene but this is the life of many Shinigami...this is a story that is told not by one but by many...

Yu walked along a path walking past Fellow Shinigami who were making their way back to the squads they were apart of. Yu looked up at the gray sky above him, it was quite uncommon for the skies to be gray, when they are mostly Blue. He didn't really mind this all too much, as it wasn't like it was harmful to him in anyway. Yu continued walked when he came upon a building with the insignia for Squad one. He stood there looking at the insignia for a bit before looking back at the building. He turned his attention towards one of the Shinigami inside the gates of the barracks, and ask him if he could get the Captain.

Shinji had been sat in his office observing the weather outside from his large balcony, the rain never phased him but during his time sitting around and observing something peaked his interest, he noticed a young male Shinigami making their way to the Squad barracks, Shinji stood up from his chair and walked to the edge of the balcony and looked down as one of the guards let the young male Shinigami into the Squad barracks then escorted him to the Captains office but in the mean time whilst he waited he couldn't help but think to himself but this ended up turning into him speaking to himself "I wonder if this Shinigami is here to try join my Squad...will certainly make this day far more interesting if this is the case.." a small smirk formed on Shinji's face but he quickly composed himself and waited for the young male Shinigami to arrive at his office

As Yu was allowed inside, the Shinigami led him inside the building where they then stopped at a door. The man told him the Captain was inside the room, and then he left Yu to go resume his duties. Yu could already feel the Captain's spiritual pressure, and he hasn't even sen him yet. It was almost suffocating, which caused Yu to shake a bit, as he knocked on the door and was allowed in. He entered the room and looked at the man who was staring at him. Yu then relaxed himself before speaking. "My name is Yu Amagi Head Captain sir, and the reason I came here today was too see if I could potentially join your squad?"

Shinji continued to look out into the distance then he turned and looked at the door to his office once the young Shinigami arrived, he allowed him to enter his office then he listened as the young Shinigami spoke and it was just as he thought...or more hoped...someone finally plucked the courage to join his Squad...well...someone who wanted to be more than just a guard. Shinji looked Yu in the eyes then closed his eyes for a few seconds before opening them and speaking "I see so you want to join Squad 1?...Well...can you tell me what makes you think that you can get into this squad?...what makes you different from all the other Shinigami out there?...what makes you think you can be the best of the best? Can you answer these questions...Yu amagi..." as Shinji said the shinigami's name his red eyes seemed to let out a small glow then he waited for the young Shinigami's answer...Shinji had to make sure this wouldn't be a waste of his time and that the Shinigami had the guts, brains, leadership and more to be in the Squad

It was yet another day...another day without a Squad, another day he had to go without knowing what his purpose was in life...he joined for one reason but as of so far the Squad he wanted to join was proving to be somewhat difficult, the captains of the other Squads seemed to be difficult to contact but rather than wait around and letting everyone else get stronger than him Kaizo would go and train more as usual...if he wasn't on a mission or trying to get into Squad 2 he would be training and getting as great as he could...as of right now he was still at the bottom of the barrel in terms of skill which frustrated him as he had so much to give but there was no one that could guide him in the right direction but this wouldn't sway him from his dream! alone or not he would never quit and would train and fight day and night without rest until he became the best.

After sometime of walking and thinking Kaizo found himself in a bamboo forest, he looked around the forest wandering how he even ended up here without realizing...then again he had got side tracked with his thoughts... "Hmm...I don't remember seeing this place before...didn't look like it was any of the maps I looked at..." Kaizo walked around a little more then found a fair sized wooden hut that did seem to be rotting away and it was in a sorry state but this could be good for Kaizo...maybe this place could be his escape from everything...a place of peace he could train at and shut out the world and focus on the one thing his heart beats for.

Kaizo walked closer to the hut then walked up the wooden steps that creaked as he put pressure on them, he then stood in the doorway and looked into the dark hut, his silhouette stretching across the floor from the light behind him shining into the hut. Kaizo slowly walked into the hut and with every step the floor would creak and crack but once in the middle of the hut he stopped and put his hands in his pockets then looked up at the roof "You're just like me...on the verge of breaking but you keep fighting for to live on and not crumble...you have a purpose just as I do...you may just be a rotten and ruined hut but I feel with time and work we can make you into something incredible...something you deserve to be...You will serve as a milestone for me. As I make you into something great perhaps you can do the same for me....or at least serve as physical evidence of how far I've come and gone...so we start from nothing but we will both become something great...something everyone will want to see, something they respect..." Kaizo pulled his right hand out his pocket then rubbed the right side of his head and closed his eyes then put his hand back in his pocket and let out a sigh "Well...I best stop talking crap to myself and...a...hut...and get working! First I get stronger by training and then I help you do the same...just building rather than training..since buildings can't train..." What Kaizo said made him chuckle slightly but then made him sigh as he realized how lonely he had become in this world...

Kaizo shook off this feeling of doubt and depression and walked outside as the rain began to pour once again, he then glanced to his right and walked down the steps then right into the Bamboo forest until he reached an extremely dense area, he then began shunpoing around the Bamboo's, trying to avoid any contact with them whilst maintaining great speed and sure at this point he wasn't fast or even that agile but this would hopefully change that...constant training...working...fighting...he would do it all if it made him stronger...truth was Kaizo was somewhat strong...he just had doubt and this was what held him back...but this was doubt that his father instilled into him through the years of abusive talk and no matter how much Kaizo ignored it, it always remained there in the back of his mind...haunting him...like a shadow hung over him..

Yu looked on as the Captain spoke to him, asking him questions as to why he even wanted to join this squad. Yu had expected this of course, it was only natural to question possible squad members, to see if they wouldn't back down once they started. Yu knew the reasons why he wanted to become a Shinigami, and he had his reasons for wanting to join this squad as well. Yu looked at the Captains red eyes that looked as though it was glowing slightly. When the Captain finished speaking, Yu wasted no time in responding to him. "Well I can't truly say I'm different from every Shinigami that attempts to join, however my reasons for wanting to join is so I can protect the ones I care about. I know that many Shinigami out there are by far stronger than me and in comparison to them I could be considered a weakling. Yet I don't want to feel helpless like I did when Hollows attacked my family. That's why I became a Shinigami in the first place. So I don't ever have to watch people give up all hope like my family did, so while most would doubt I could ever become the best of the best, that just fuels me to get better than I could ever dream of. Thats why I wish to join your squad sir. I know that if I learn from you, that my goal may not seem like a impossible achievement. As for what makes think I can even get in. I'm not one to just give up, even if people would laugh at me thinking I could become apart of a Squad such as yours."

"Damn it" Giovanni cursed in frustration. he was walking all around the seireitei tracking down Spiritual pressures hoping to find his destination. of course it was just his luck that after 37 targets found none were who he was looking for. He didnt even know who the hell he was even looking for. no one knew, and the people who did know wouldnt tell him. he was only looking for the kido corps, no bfd. he went to the members who were operating/guarding the senkaimon but they told him the location was "confidential". assholes. no one knew anything about the corps, it was like a secret society and a lie at the same time. they say you have the option of joining any of the three branches but one of those branches thought it was a root and has been hiding underground for centuries.

after three more dead end leads he went back to the senkaimon and waited. intent on following the kido corps members when they got off duty.

Shinji listened as Yu answered his questions then once Yu had finished Shinji closed his eyes then rubbed his chin for a few seconds with his right then spoke "I see...well there is only one real way to see how well you can do and if you have any potential...I'm sure you know Squad 1 has the least Shinigami out of every squad but in turn has the most experienced or skilled if you will...this is with a few exceptions as other Squads also contain highly skilled Shinigami. Now. Let's see if you have what it takes to get into Squad 1...and survive..." Shinji walked towards Yu then walked past him and as he did he spoke "Follow me..." Shinji exited his office and soon enough they'd end up making their way through the large barracks and eventually down a large flight of stairs "I'll tell you this now...Many Shinigami that have taken this test have left heavily injured...few of them even died...and even fewer passed it..." Once at the bottom of the long winding staircase they walked into a large dark room...nothing outside of the light coming in through the door way was able to be seen. Shinji turned to Yu then looked him in the eyes..."Are you ready to take the test?"

Yu after finishing what he said, watched the Head Captain as he thought about what he just said. Then when he started speaking to him Yu nodded about what he did know about the squad. It was true that although few in number, most in Squad one were amazing Shinigami, true role models to future Shinigami. He then followed along with the Captain as they walked through the barracks and then went down a flight of stairs. As they were walking down the stairs he was told why few have ever passed this test, as most were injured or killed. "Becoming a Shinigami itself means you know death is a risk." Yu replied with as they finally reached the bottom of the stairs, and made their way into the dark room that had no light besides what light from outside the room provided. The Captain then turned and looked Yu right in the eyes and asked him if he was ready for the test. Yu nodded as he had already came this far, and he didn't plan to back out now. "Yes I am." Yu replied, as he looked around the dark room, trying to figure out what the test may be.

Giovanni sat patiently for a while. he didnt bother trying to keep track of time. instead he was mentally analyzing the spiritual pressure of the to kido corps members. it wasnt an in depth analysis but it was enough to memorize the 'feel' of their power. he watched as they opened and closed the senkaimon, noting how their reiatsu rose and fell in a distinct pattern. His sensitivity made that much easy. But soon came the fun part. they knew he was waiting for him. They were probably gauging him as he gauged them, and of course he wasnt anything special. so when their shift was over, they used shunpo as the next shift arrived, hoping to lose Gio.

it wasnt surprising that Gio wouldnt be able to keep up. in fact he didnt even try. he had a lock on their energy already. he assumed that they would lead him to a barrier and he would lose the trail there but that wasnt entirely the case. he took his time and concentrated to follow the two members. he was indeed lead to a barrier that made the trail run cold. to the eye there was nothing there. but he could feel it, the sensation inside of him, telling him to go back, go away from this spot. but he ignored the feeling and walked forward, through the mysterious barrier. and on the otherside was a place he had only ever dreamed about, the Kido corps. but of course he was surrounded immediately. so he put up his hands in surrendered "easy now.. didnt i Pass the test? I want to Join this unit"

Shinji continued to look at Yu and listened to what he said then Shinji's eyes narrowed very slightly and the door closed and now they stood in a room of pitch black then a few seconds later lights came on from all around and flooded the area with light and in this room stood many hollows chained up surrounding them both "Disgusting isn't it? keeping souls that lost their purpose chained up to be used for a test...it is indeed harsh but this is simply my method...their time will come and they shall be purified but if I can give them meaning to their sorry existence then there is nothing wrong with what I do...call me a criminal, a monster and whatever you want but my methods work...Now...there is but one rule to this test...you must and this an absolute must. You must kill the hollow with 1 strike and this must be done with your Zanpakuto...this is the only thing that purifies them. Shinigami on a daily basis use their fists, kido and so on to kill hollows and this does not purify them and this makes us no better than Quincy...our greatest enemy...Now..." Shinji then turned and walked towards a hollow "The test begins" Shinji then seemingly vanished as all the chains holding the hollows broke and released the hollows that all ran to Yu from all directions

As the door closed shutting off all light, Yu could see nor hear anything besides his own breathing, the lights then came on insides the room, and Yu looked around to see Hollows of varying sizes chained up. He wasn't sure how to respond to this as he looked at all of them trying to move towards him and the captain but couldn't. Then when the Captain started speaking up, saying his own methods were disgusting and disturbing in a way. While in a way Yu didn't mind it all that much, he did want to protect the ones he cared for from the Hollows. He was then told their was only one rule to this test, to kill them in one shot with his Zanpakuto so he could purify them, he couldn't use kido or his fist to kill any of them. He then showed a little resentment towards the Quincy's. Yu watched the Captain walk towards a Hollow, and was told the test begins now, then the Captain vanished, and so did all the chains on the Hollows. Yu pulled out his Zanpakuto and took a deep breath in before he began. he looked at his Zanpakuto and said it's release. "Go Rampant, Sabējiurufu!" His Zanpakuto then changed its form, and Yu looked at all the Hollow's running towards him, and he shunpoed on top of one's head, and stabbed his Zanpakuto down through it's head, and jumped off it as it fell to the ground. As soon as he jumped to the ground one of the Hollows lunged at him, and Yu got out of the way as the other Hollows also started lunging at him, even stepping over one another to try and get him. I can see how some die during this test, while purifying one, you risk being hit by the others coming at you. Yu thought to himself as one lunged at him again, and he spun around swinging his Zanpakuto and it cleaved right through its head, however as he took that one down another one smacked him with it's hand sending him flying into the wall across the room. Yu grit his teeth as he felt his body and head slam off the walls. He felt some blood running down the side of his head, as he looked at the Hollows running to catch back up to him after he was bashed away from them. They give no pattern to their attacks, so I have to strike and dodge right away, unless I want to keep getting swatted around this room.

Giovanni.... well he isnt allowed to disclose any further information do the classified and super secretive nature of kido corps. moving on to the next and final part of the test. he wound up in a field like area full of targets. the objective was to destroy as many, using only kido, with as little spirit energy and number of spells as possible. he looked around counting the targets. some of them were clearly more durable than others. he knelt down and placed his hand on the ground, concentrating his reiryoku "hado 12. Fushibi" he whispered as if he was still trying to wrap his mind around what he was trying to do. a Kido net shot from his hand that was on the floor, winding in several spiral directions into the targets. this was easier that trying to have the net attach itself to each target. after he believed the net was attached to all the targets he lifted his other hand. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south. Hado 31 shakkaho" he didnt need the incantation but he wanted to make sure all the targets were destroyed. so when he forced the kido blast through the net and into a cascade of explosions he had to wait untill the smoke cleared to reveal... oh wait i cant tell you that its classified.

Shinji was sat in a room watching Yu fight the hollows and right now he couldn't think much as this test had only just started but so far so good...he wasn't dead but then again he wasn't perfectly fine either but this was a test and in most cases tests all skill areas..this tests more raw skill areas...not only that...but this may train the young Shinigami a little bit. Rather than hacking and slashing at a hollow and causing it a great deal of pain he can learn to kill it in one swift strike making it's death less painful and saving lots more energy...precision was a key element here but also awareness...Yu would have to think fast and take in everything around him before making a move...

Kurisa stood in the underground training room that laid under the Squad 6 barracks, he stood with his arms crossed and his eyes closed as he waited for Rio to wake up from her Shikai interaction...she was in a bit of a sorry state but this was the least of Kurisa's concerns. She would not die off so easily but this wasn't really what he thought or felt he just figured she'd make it through despite her wounds. However. During this time Rio had been in her inner world Kurisa thought a little more about things...more or less what he could do to further enhance his kido skills and even combine them with his Hoho skills but this was somewhat difficult...as it took preparation and then countless months to years of training to even slightly grasp such a concept and make it reality...and then the perfecting came...but Kurisa was a patient man so this was not worrying at all...all things take time and nothing is ever done so quickly...

Yu readied himself again and shunpoed above the Hollows as they lunged at him only to collide into the wall, Yu took the advantaged of them being stunned to get on ones back and thrust his Zanpakuto to the Hollows head from behind. He then turned around and before the Hollow could grab him he sliced straight up through it's head. Yu then moved out of the way as he expected Hollows to start lunging again, and sure enough they tried. He saw one further off from the others so he shunpoed toward it, and pierced right though it's head, Yu then quickly moved to the side as one attempted to grab him, only for Yu to pierce through his head as well. He then started dodging the oncoming Hollows that began lunging at him again. So far so good, as long as I strike and dodge I should be fine. Yu then saw two Hollows that were getting more closer to him than the rest so Yu waited until they lunged which he then swung his Zanpakuto and sliced through both of their heads. Yu then dodged the next Hollow attempted to instantly eat him, and pierced through the Hollow's, that was behind him, head. He then shunpoed away from the majority of them and look at the remaining numbers. Okay, I should be able to do this. They aren't showing any signs of being smart about this situation, they are more bent on trying to eat me then living.

Fumio Hari Kouineji

"Hmmm... So this is my room" Fumio stood in the doorway of his room in the squad 8 barracks with a small smile resting comfortably on his face. Entering said room, he took a seat on a pillow placed on the floor, across from a small table. Crossing his legs and sitting upright, with perfect posture might I add, he thought for a moment. The smile stayed situated upon his face, however, his eyes portrayed a different emotion during his venture into his own mind. Moments of his first and recent mission scrolled through his mind. 'I'm so humiliated... How dare he lead me to believe that I was doing damage to that Arrancar when it was all Captain Rinkai... And then how could he promote me to seventh seat straight after when I didn't do anything at all?!... And that Lieutenant... How in the world has she even kept her position after showing such irresponsible behaviour... Is this a joke? Are they making a mockery out of me?... Huuu...' Fumio's eyes drifted close but his smile never faltered. He had been doing this for so long; smiling no matter how he felt to hide his true self from all outsiders.... The only one that knew how he really felt was his Zanpakuto, which was why Fumio treasured him and would always admire him and treat his weapon with respect at all times.

With thinking time over, Fumio raised from his seat and released a deep breath. 'None of that matters anyway... I mustn't get off track of my true goal...' He patted his shihakushō, making sure to smooth out all of the creases and straighten his armband. Presentation was important to Fumio. He had to make sure he seemed in control at all times, even of his appearance. Returning to his happy place, he left his room, sliding the door close behind him. 'That's right, I will achieve my goal, that's a definite fact heh' Positive thoughts turned Fumio's smile into a satisfied smirk while he travelled at a comfortable pace out of the barracks and into the pathways. As usual, he observed the space around him, completely ignoring the people and focusing on the beautiful landscapes and architecture that the Seireitei had to offer him.

With her conscious finally returning into the real world, Rio's eyes began to flutter, but then she winced. The stinging pain from her right shoulder didn't disappear, but it did dull down slightly. Her left foot was also still aching from being hit by the Captain's Bakudo. However, all of the aches and pains weren't unbearable so Rio slowly began to sit upright, rubbing the back of her head where it hit the floor. ".. Dammit" she seethed under her breath. Her eyelids gradually raised, revealing her plum irises. Reclaiming her vision, she took the time to scan the room, remembering where she was. As her eyes landed on Captain Kuchiki, a quick smile took over her lips before she forced it to disappear and forced herself to stand up, making sure to mask the pain she felt as well as she could. "Thank you very much Sensei. I've finally acquired my Shikai and made contact with my Zanpakuto's." she glanced down and tilted her head downwards when she felt the smile try to attack her straight face. "Also, thank you for taking the time out of your scheduled to train me. And thank you for making sure we weren't interrupted again.
