In the beginning...

The Uncanny Avengers were formed some time after the events of A vs X [or Avengers vs X-Men] to try and bridge the gap between mutants and average humans by actively recruiting more mutants into the Avengers. The initial line up had Captain America [Steve Rogers] letting Cyclops' brother Havoc take the field leader role with Scarlet Witch, Rogue, Thor, and Wolverine. Later on the group would gain another mutant in Sunfire, as well as Wonder Man and the Wasp. The team mostly fought against the Red Skull. In the flagship Avengers team, the group gained mutant members Sunspot, Cannonball, and Manifold.

After some time, the original team was replaced with a new group with the current Capt. America [Falcon]. It included the Vision, Rogue returning once more as well as Scarlet Witch, with new additions in the form of Quicksilver, Sabretooth, and Brother Voodoo.

Jump ahead to where the team stands today. Now, Old Man Steve [Rogers] still fights the good fight after being aged a few decades in a reality altering adventure and wants to see this team push forward. Now along with Spiderman, the Human Torch, Brother Voodoo, Rogue, Synapse, Deadpool, Quicksilver, and Cable the team fights on.

--------------------------------

Got all that? If not, if you only know like 3 characters from above, then THAT'S why I want to out-do all of that mess. I'm a super-geek when it comes to the stuff, and to me none of the teams really had any mph. What I hope to get with this game [that will mostly be some form of cannon characters] is a couple Avengers and a few mutants from the X-Teams and maybe one original hero that can be mutant or other. Our mission, depending on our team, will be determined by the older Steve Rogers who's now inactive in the field. What would happen if folks like Magneto, Iceman, Colossus, and Banshee fought alongside Avengers like Captain Marvel [formerly Ms. Marvel], Black Widow, and Hawkeye?

Other than Old Man Steve I've no clue what types of heroes will show up in this. I generally can't stand Deadpool or Wolverine, so the less CS's for those two the better. Also be as original as you can with your Character Sheets, I hope nobody just copy/pastes something from a wiki somewhere. None of the previous history matters, I just explained the evolution of the team for anybody that finds that kind of thing interesting. I usually like to know what's come before in terms of history myself. Roles needing filled are as follows:

[field leader, mutant or other]
[powerhouse Avenger]
[secondary Avenger]
[mutant]
[mutant]
[mutant]
[wildcard, mutant or other]
[original, mutant or other]

^^^^ I'll fill whatever space with my character I need to. I'll give everyone interested first dibs. You can go ahead and show your interest and post WIP sheets here if you'd like. Character Sheets MUST include but are not limited to:

Name - [secret ID]
Alias - [super code-name]
Age -
Powers -
Weaknesses -
Previous Affiliation - [which Avengers team or X-Team did you come from?]
Personality - [three words that best describe your hero]
Appearance - [description or image]
Brief Bio - [Don't get long winded or assume everyone is using every bit of cannon material. Characters themselves have to be cannon, not their histories...]
Notes - [your character different than the cannon in any major ways?]
Sample Post - [About a paragraph with a little dialog! Just so I know you can give the character their own voice...]

--------------------------------

If there's enough interest I'll try and finish fleshing out any plots in terms of who we'll be facing off against and why. I don't think it'll be somebody as big as the Red Skull, but maybe a group like the Serpent Society or a new player in Latveria trying to take over in Doom's absence. I'm sure we'll think of something. Now where are all of the Marvel Zombies hiding?

I like this idea, I'm not as well versed in marvel Canon as I'm sure many players will be. But I really like it.

I'll work on some ideas prolly try for a CS tomorrow night or Tuesday.

Edit- oh, I didn't see that the character had to be canon, I'll give it a think, but I'm not so sure.

I'm very close to deciding to go for a fusion of Danny Rand and Matt Murdock with undercover connections to the Yakuza. I'll decide in the morning...

All kinds of interest now! Awesome. Remember though guys I've only got room for a few Avengers and will be looking for X-Men related characters to push the whole 'unity' thing and bridging the gap between X-Men and Avengers. So have an alternate or two in mind!

I'm thinking some form of Banshee myself. Other than Archangel in another RP it's been awhile since I've had somebody who could fly.

Black Panther could work on the team and was somebody I'd hoped would get taken, IDK about a solid black Avenger and a solid white mentally unstable Moon Knight on the same team though LOL

Let's keep tossing ideas around, we'll see what sticks...

Could we possibly take a traditionally non-mutant character and make them a mutant for this game? Or vise-versa?

I'd like to use my knee-jerk OC mutant. he seems mary sue, but he's more jack-of all trades.

Name:
Magnus Wagner
Code Name:
Bamf
Age:
25
Gender:
Male, very male
Appearance:
5'6" with a very lean Bruce-Lee frame. On his chest is tattooed an Egyptian cartouche that reads "He will serve the end of the world for a year and a day" On his right hand he has L O K I on his first knuckles.

Taught never to rely on any one thing, he keeps a number of tools on hand at all times.
Tanto Located on his left pectoral with a kevlar mesh sheath as an extra measure of defense from heart-shots.
Ninjato Kept on left hip.
Grenades: Never keeping more than two on him at any time in uniform after hearing the story of his grandfather pulling the pins of a dozen soldiers at once. Chaff-nonmagnetic metal flakes meant to scramble electronic measures, Knocker-compressed microfine Metal powder used to blow open door with high kinetic output or stun multiple organic opponents
throwing irons As designed, but his are hollow and fluted with multiple tiny holes to ensure a sucking wound to let an opponent bleed out if organic or hydraulic if he can land the right shot. Kept on his person on a thigh holster even out of uniform.
Sling: Simple kevlar thong used to hurl a simple fiberglass sphere with enough force to break bone, When he slips a thread through the ring of a grenade, it becomes a twofold weapon to launch the five pound weapon to impact before exploding. This he also keeps on a pocket with a hard rubber ball in civilian attire.
Uniform: A class A-III fabric armor in the make of a body suit with impact plastics Velcro atop. Can withstand up to .357 at point blank with only broken bones. He also has the same material available as a denim jacket and blue jeans for undercover/civilian wear

Powers:
Physical mutation: His physiology is unique in several different ways. His bone structure allows him great flexibility. His spine is more flexible than an ordinary human, enabling him to remain in a crouched position for a long time and perform contortionist-type feats without causing any damage to his spine. Bamf's balance and bodily coordination are all enhanced to superhuman levels. He also possesses superhuman dexterity, being able to manipulate items and fence with either hand and his tail. He lacks his fathers prehensile feet but does have five fingers and toes that let him pass for human easier. He has a prehensile tail, allowing him to grab onto objects with relative ease. His tail is strong enough to not only support his body weight, but also lift an adult man completely off the ground at the same time, and is deft enough to fight with while holding a sword or blunt object. His eyes (which are constantly washed in black) grant him a marked degree of heightened night vision.

Wall crawling: Where his father could blend into the shadows by warping light, he can stick to shadows by an instinctive connection to the home dimension of his father and grandfather. This allows him to fight in a third dimension most others lack but also means he can not cling to an activated ceiling light for example beyond his physical strength.
SKILLS
Trained in the formal art of Ninjutsu by psylocke, he puts his mutant physiology to best use as an infiltrator. He has been taught how to consciously filter out the lightest levels of psychic invasion.

Magic(k): While a weak skill now, it is to note he keeps a store of occult books and the like, some real, some just to piss his dad off. His superhuman dexterity makes the sleight of hand as easy as breathing but he does also practice a few practical incantations like sewing glyphs into all of his clothes so they will put themselves away.
Personality:
For the most part he is happy go lucky to hide his pain of loosing all the life he had ever known. He has always had a fascination with sleight of hand and stage magic, On quiet nights he loves to curl up with horrible kung-fu movies and a plate of sushi to pass the time away whenever a girl isn't available. Even being the prodigal son of two great mutants and the grandson of even greater mutants he is still a physical mutant, he can never pass in normal society. As such he has a deep seeded hate for 'pretty' mutants who can pass by unseen and will bend over backwards, literally, for those who cant hide themselves. Where his father was a devout Catholic, Magnus has always carried a despise for the church's position on mutants to the point he is a vocal follower of Loki, a 'real god' of Asgard that has put many a hero of earth on their heels.
History:
In another time and another place the mutants lost at Alcatraz. It became a campaign of slaughter on a planet wide level, In that reality, Kurt wagner and wanda maximoff had a child who was born in bloodshed and forced to fight from the time of a child, in time it became evident that they wouldn't survive so they went to the oldest and most powerful enemy they knew, Apocalypse. They agreed to become his newest horsemen if he got their son to safety, The first mutant agreed and sent the teenager to a reality whose other Aubin-sur matched his own temperament and psychic harmonics. The new Apocalypse understood what had been done with a simple letter tattooed int the boys chest, and handed the boy over to Xaviers school anonymously. This Xavier knew the boys past and did all he could to try and help heal a lifetime of war, but healing can't be done if it is unwanted. For years he studied at the academy and learned his lessons to master his powers so they didn't master him but there was too much ill will in his heart to be a member of the x-men so he jumed at the chance to become an avenger.

Note: Magnus has a fear of heights/falling from a failed attempt to teleport that broke his spine, resulting in two of his bones to have to be fused to let him walk again.

Name - Mark Hirose a.k.a Josefumi Hirose

Alias -
Devil Fist in the US
Akuma Ken in Japan

Age - 28

Powers -

Weaknesses -
  • Blindness: Mark is totally blind. While his abilities help him overcome this, it becomes a problem for him to navigate and fight when his heightened senses are scrambled or can't detect anything.
  • Sound and Smell Peak: Mark's superhuman senses render him extraordinarily vulnerable to odours and/or excessive noise, which can temporarily weaken his Radar Sense. Under extreme circumstances he can be easily immobilized, suffer great pain and/or left disorientated.

Previous Affiliation - New Avengers

Personality - Attentive, Friendly, Persistent.

Appearance - Mark is a 5ft 7in male with a muscular physique and an olive complexion. His hair is a dark black and matches to some extent with his dark blue eyes. As he is of biracial descent his facial features are a mix of Caucasian and East Asian, with the majority being the latter.

Not So Brief Bio - Not So Brief Bio - Mark Hirose was born in Tokyo to a Caucasian American mother, and a Japanese father. Apart from the occasional childhood teasing about his heritage, Mark lived a relatively normal life up until the age of nine. As a young Mark was crossing the street with his mother, a Roxxon Oil & Chemical truck caused a traffic collision. The accident resulted in hazardous chemicals splashing into his eyes, with Mark's mother losing her life. Soon the chemicals began to affect his eyes, rendering him blind, with the last thing he saw being his mother.

Mark later woke up in a local hospital to a deafening orchestra of crying infants, thunderous heartbeats, and stomping feet. Immediately, Mark attempted to croak out for his mother, only for the dry, sandpapery texture of his own voice to make him cringe in pain, the incredibly loud sound forcing his eardrums to strain spectacularly. It was, at this time, that he realized something. Something that he hadn't noticed in the initial panic of waking up in an unfamiliar place. Everything was pure blackness. He could not see a single thing around him, and despite his young age, Mark knew what 'blindness' was. He read about it in Science class not too long ago. He couldn't see. He was...He was...

He was being held by somebody, as tears struggled to escape the snug bandages wrapped around his eyes. Soft murmurs of Japanese was being sung into his ears, and although he could not see, Mark automatically knew it was his father. The man's scent was familiar - a deep, metallic tang that came from the man's constant working in the industrial districts. The slightly faster than normal breaths the man took due to the slight damage his lungs had taken from smog and rust. It was all familiar, and as he cried over things that a child should never have to experience, Mark clung to his only lifeline.

Time passed, and Mark never spoke of his heightened senses - some would even say that he had a good handle on the enhanced hearing, smell, and touch, and it even helped him out within life. Once, he was in the bathroom at school, and heard, from practically a mile away, the sound of Shiro, a schoolyard bully a few years older, planning to give him a swirlie. As soon as the loud boy 'quietly' snuck into the bathroom and was about to grab him from behind, Mark turned, slamming his walking stick into the boy's ankle, sending him to the ground, before swinging wildly in the direction he heard the sounds of breathing coming from - hopefully the bully's backup. They all ran away, yelling about the crazy blind kid, and Mark sighed, finishing up with his handwashing.

In this day and age, however, good things came to an end. His dad had taken out a lot of shady loans due to the economic failure within Japan during the 1990s, and the high budget losses his industrial company was beginning to suffer. It caught up to him, and Mark could still remember the day that they busted into their apartment with a shotgun and katana, before stabbing his dad through the heart. "The K'un Lun-kai pays their dues." The man with the slicked back hair stated calmly, and gave Mark, shell-shocked and gripping his walking stick, a wink. The boy waited until they left, before peeling off towards his dad's cold, bleeding body, sobbing as he collapsed over the man's corpse. First, his mother, and now his father.

This tragic incident forced Mark into an orphanage. His father's death also pushed his control over his enhanced senses into a downwards spiral. While at the Orphanage, he was visited by an old man named Orson Randall passing through Japan.
The Old Man promised to train Mark to control and master his "gift" and took Mark under his wing. Orson began a harsh training regime with Mark, often pushing an emotional response from him to teach him to control his anger. Over the next few months and years, Mark became a powerful fighter with almost complete control of his blindness and enhanced senses. Striking out a name for himself, Mark became Akuma before leaving the side of Orson Randall.

Believing that he was capable of taking on the Yakuza clan that shattered his already broken life, he went after them dressed as a bright red demon, starting with the lowly gangs working in the K'un Lun-kai's territory and working his way up. Though he did not stop there. Posing as a rough, able-sighted street orphan with a more 'traditional' Japanese name, he joined the very organisation he despised, and with that, Mark started his two-pronged attack against the K'un Lun-kai.

Eventually Mark's assault on the Yakuza came to a head, when he was personally contacted by the boss of the family, who offered to meet with him one-to-one, face-to-mask. The next night, Mark snuck into the prestigious offices of the K'un Lun-kai's boss, to see the man himself alone. Mark quickly fought expecting the boss to be a pushover, that he would go down easy, but not only was the boss keeping up with him, but Mark was actually having trouble keeping up with him. Eventually Mark slipped up, what felt like a hot sledgehammer hit him in the jaw, nearly shattering it. He looked up to see the boss standing there smiling, his fist glowing a bright yellow. Mark then realised that he was vastly outmatched as he received a vicious beating, nearly ending his life there.
Barely able to stand, Mark just managed to grab a large stapler off of the desk and smacked the boss in the eye, distracting him long enough for Mark to tackle him onto his back. As he knew that the K'un Lun-kai boss would not let him leave here alive at this point, Mark whispered to him "The Devil pays his dues." before he took his life. At this particular moment, as the boss lay there dead, Mark's chest felt like it was burning, as he undid the top of his costume, he noticed a thin black dragon tattoo in the centre of his chest, and his fists glowed with the same golden energy he saw earlier.

Too injured to care, Mark escaped before any of the boss' underlings cornered him and staggered his way home. As he healed from his brush with death, he came under the care of Ms. Daiyu, an elderly Chinese immigrant he had come to know as his neighbour, and his friend. While he waited to get back up on his feet, he heard news that the K'un Lun-kai's boss had been replaced by his more youthful son, that news filled Mark with dread. Would he have the same abilities as his father? Would he better stronger than him?

Mark returned fully healed to both his vigilante work, now with the name Akuma Ken, as well as his position in the Yakuza, he himself now a shateigashira, a supervisor of sorts of the local gangs in the region, and still continues to leak information about the K'un Lun-kai's activities to the police.

Recently, Mark has become proficient with his new found ability and has moved his activities to the United States in order to track down a branch of the K'un Lun-kai. Since coming to the States Mark was offered membership in the New Avengers Academy and aided the premiere Avengers on several defence missions against the likes of Ultron, and AIM. After Captain America was aged several decades it looked like his Avengers Unity Squad wouldn't last, but Mark was one of the first heroes to actually volunteer to join the now struggling program.

Sample Post - Mark laughed as he ran his fingers over the newspaper on the table. Its headline read a simple "DEVIL FIST IN THE STATES". The voice from the other end of the table spoke up. "'Akuma Ken' doesn't quite fit us, I guess." It was the rough voice of Benjamin Urich, who, to Mark, smelt strongly of smoke and disinfectant. "It's ok... More threatening than Akuma Ken, I'll admit that." Mark smiled. "Though, I will say, it doesn't have a better... 'flow', to it."

"Enough about your new name, Mr. Hirose." Urich sat looking impatient. "We should be discussing what your... organisation is up to here in New York." Mark's smile quickly faded. "I told you before, Urich, I'm not actually with them." Ben grinned at that. "Sure, whatever... Now, where is this arms deal supposed to be at?"
Mark sighed before taking off his glasses. "I've been told that the weapons are supposed to be delivered at The Brooklyn Cruise Terminal at Pier 12 in Red Hook. They'll be stowed away on a cruise ship, I don't know which one... The weapons will then most likely be taken into vehicles, from there on, I have no idea." Ben nodded approvingly before continuing. "Ok, not that I'm ungrateful that you came to me, but I've seen what you can do from the news coming out of Japan. Why aren't you going after them yourselves?" Mark took his tinted glasses and placed them back on, before giving Ben a good-natured smile. "I'm a little busy at the moment, Ben."

For the record, in-game, this will be old man Steve Roger's second attempt at this team. The first team which included Havok, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Wolverine, and Rogue is still considered cannon in this game.

Assuming we get a full team, I'm working on some plot points now and a course for the initial arc.

Finished a redesign of Banshee. I think he'll be a little younger, mid-twenties or so, and have his daughter Theresa at the younger age of three or four. He'll be a former member of the X-Men, among the new mutants who rose in the nineties dubbed 'Generation X'. Cassidy's reason for joining this motley crew is mainly to protect his daughter from Black Tom Cassidy who believes the girl to be his own. Banshee will have already lost one fight with Black Tom and the Juggernaut, however it will be before his joining the Avengers Unity Squad.
