Greetings one-and-all,
As a rather fanatical fan of the Warhammer 40,000 setting, and after wanting to begin another 40K RP for some time now, I've been thinking of a couple of scenarios/settings that I'd quite like to try; I have decided to put up this thread, with a few of those ideas, to see of anyone would be interested and interested in which one(s).
So, without further ado, here they are for your perusal.
Option Numero 1:
I'm looking into a Dark Heresy-influenced game I.E. The players are Inquisitorial Acolytes on an epic quest etc.
This would differ from my other RPs in a couple of respects, but mostly in that I would be looking very carefully at character sheets - especially since it would be in the Advanced section - I'd be looking for dedicated players that can commit, looking for those that can/don't mind their characters evolving as the RP progresses (due to injuries, events or whatever).
Most of all, however, I would be going a lot more grimdark than I have before, a lot more intense on the themes of 40K - suffering, exploitation of human life, the threats from within, without and beyond, and so forth - to construct what would likely be my most 'gritty' and 'gothic' roleplay yet; it would include all the worst, and best, aspects of the 40K universe and environment in a 'slice of life' narrative which I would hope with the inclusion of decent roleplayers could be exceptional...
Option Numero 2:
My second RP option would be a Horus Heresy RP set in the ruins of Istvaan III - at the beginning - when the traitor legions are trying to get rid of the loyalist elements of their forces. We'd obviously be playing as loyal marines, fighting our equals, and attempting to escape off-world.
This would be a sharp and swift RP, lots of action, and against other Astartes - so more of a fair match up than most - where I would expect a conscious effort by players to make their characters something more than two-dimensional cut-outs of living superhuman weapons.
Just use the actual Horus Heresy novels for guidance on that, Dan Abnett especially. Astartes, if written correctly, can even seem...human - although all know that they're not.
Tying into that, a Deathwatch RP would not be off the table either.
Option Numero 3 (and final):
Would be the 'Guard idea' of mine AKA a WWI/II RP set in the 40K universe; we'd be members of a regiment formed from the remains of several decimated regiments of an Imperial Crusade, each from different worlds, with different outlooks and so forth. Think a more detailed and graphic version of Gaunt's Ghosts...but not really much like GG.
So, thoughts, opinions, questions and any posts of interest in one or more of these ideas are most welcome.
Thank you!
