So as this is my first actual role playing thread in literally like three years, I suppose taking such liberties as to assume actions that would logically follow is a faux pas in this particular genre, despite the lackluster movement of the sequence?

Okay, so here is my concern. How does one go about either a) rectifying a past faux pas as I have encountered at this point or b) avoiding such things in the future.

In my past, mainly in IRC's but also in a few other forums it was uncommon for one to set a melee attack in one post and then unleash it in another. (Magic was an entirely different story.) It was also not uncommon to draw the reasonable and analytical conclusion for one's actions in the previous post and was from time to time expected as the role play was always viewed as a cooperative writing prompt rather than anything of a contest.

Any words of advice or guidance?

I just wanted to drop in and make you aware that I haven't absconded from this particular thread. I've just been a bit busy. Then the hard drive in my laptop fried. Now I have a baby in the hospital. So I plan on getting to your post soon. Perhaps tonight if I get a minute while I'm sitting here in the hospital.

It isn't too bad at the moment. She seems to be sleeping pretty heavily at the moment. Coughing is at a minimum. I am hoping to be able to take her home tomorrow but at this rate I'm trying not to get my hopes up. So before I turn in to try and get some shut eye I've delivered this hopefully not entirely off base post. I forgot how intricate and complicated combat can potentially be.
