IN REAL LIFE

Name: Fredrick Carpenter
Age: 21
Gender: Male

Appearance: Fred is a tough, sturdy man. He stands at a 6 feet and two inches tall, with broad shoulders and a bulky physique overall. With striking red hair and golden yellow eyes he carries a very pretty face that is able to attract anyone. A charming and warm smile is also a genetic blessing he was given.

Background: Fredrick Carpenter was born as the fifth child in an already large family. Brenden, Connor, David, and Evan all came before him. As the fifth child he was also the fifth son, not having a sister, Amber, until he was eight years old. He grew up in a very outgoing and busy family, all his brothers in various sports and activities that he inherited from them as his likes. His area of interest was in football and baseball, playing since the ripe age of six due to his father.

He was always a part of a team his whole life, making Fred never really have a minute alone. He was either with his family or friends and spent every second with a smile on his face though, always cheerful and happy. Having so many brothers who were also skilled in various sports made Fred a very competitive person. He always wanted to surpass the high standards and bars that his brothers had set before him to make his parents proud. Some considered him a prodigy compared to his brothers in sports, but Fred knew that it was because of all the attention his brothers got that he was also throw into a sort of spotlight to all those on the outside.

The summer before his senior year of high school changed everything though. One drunken night a group of his friends had found themselves being kicked out of a party from causing too much ruckus and drama. Before leaving they had started to pick a fight with other boys outside and ended up bruised and bloodied, the brawl wasn't the worst of it though. The drunken group of friends had agreed to continue their party elsewhere even though they were injured, the alcohol still strongly in their systems. Fred's best friend, Benny, drove the group of friends to a nearby lake where his parents owned a lake house. But before arriving at the lake house Fred and his friends had found themselves wrapped around a tree with crazed injuries from both the fight and accident.

Four days from the accident Fred finally woke. He had learned that during his time asleep he had lost two of his friends and teammates, Benny being one of them. Things didn't go up from there as his whole body was in pain he learned that during his fight he had injured his ankle and that he would have made a quick recovery but the accident had caused his legs to be caught up between the car and he sustained even more serious injuries to it. What was looking bad was now looking worse as his dreams of playing sports were going down the drain he was also trying to sink in the news of losing friends.

After the accident Fred found himself in a depression. He lost his friends and he lost his passion and to add things up he was also in a wheelchair. His family tried everything they could to cheer him up, signing him up for therapy, for coaching positions on various teams, but it wasn't until his brother Evan gave him a new game for his computer that his attitude had began to change around. The game was Elder Tales, and having enough free time now he spent his days on the game, learning the ins and outs as he had lost his interest in sports he needed to keep his mind somewhere else.

Fred found a new identity online with Elder Tales and he was becoming a happier person. With a newfound happiness he was even able to make a stronger recovery, being able to stand up with crutches for his high school graduation. It wasn't until his sophomore year of college that he was able to consider himself healed person. He had forgotten the accident and found himself in a happy position, with new friends and even a girlfriend. He began working out again and even picked up a new sport, swimming. With such a happy outlook on life now and trying to keep himself busy, Fred had found himself pulling away from Elder Tales and all the friends and family he had made on the game. With the introduction of the new expansion pack though, that gave him a new excuse to log back on.

Personality: Fred is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He tends to be very positive and cheerful, but can sometimes be a jerk as the awful stereotypical jock attitude of his can still be shown. He is an extremely competitive person and can also be very vain. He has a bright and warm personality as he now pretends to be happier, because that in turn helps him believe it himself.

In the world of Elder Tales Fred's avatar, Red, is exactly the same. He is a fun-loving, adventure-seeking man who likes living dangerously. He also tends to showcase his competitive side when it comes to raids and joining parties. He still carries his outgoing personality though, making friends easily in the world of Elder Tales.

IN REAL LIFE

Name: Ryan Haraldsson
Age: 27
Gender: Male

Appearance:

Lazy, dishevelled, half-arsed. All good ways to describe how Ryan looks on a day to day basis. Most of the time he wears old jeans and faded band shirts, refusing to buy new clothes while his ancient wardrobe still has life in it. His dark blonde hair is greying a little at the edges and stubble flocks his otherwise clear complexion.

Background:
Teaching was never really Ryan's life ambition. After leaving school with so-so grades and getting an average degree at an average university, his intention was to join the Army and coast away his adult life doing office work somewhere or another. No such luck of course; after failing Selection three times, Ryan finally gave in and began drifting across London, from one dead-end job to another. It was all he could do to stay motivated as the bills racked up and the monotony set in, until a chance encounter with an American girl in a nightclub (and subsequently, her hotel room) convinced him that a better life awaited across the pond, full of cheap beer, good bars and tasty women. With a much-needed boost of enthusiasm, Ryan took courses in a number of subjects, from languages and history to teaching methods; it was that last one that finally landed him a ticket off Old Blighty. At the age of 23, he was employed by a high school in some town he couldn't pronounce, in a state he had never heard of; despite not having a clue what he was doing, Ryan dove right in and after a few months floundering, had a fairly respectable position passing on his not-quite-perfect German.

Naturally his British charms gave him a few advantages with the local ladies, but before long the novelty wore off and they started seeing him for the lout that he was. With his favourite pastime giving him the cold shoulder, Ryan started broadening his horizons, finding new ways to waste his life away. Gambling, hunting, he even dabbled in a bit of shooting before deciding it was too much effort. In the end he settled for a bit of classic PC gaming, jumping from FPS to RPG to RTS. All fun enough up to a point, but he never found one that challenged him consistently. MMOs weren't much better, as anyone who's played WoW would know, but there was one that he kept going back to, mainly due to the decent playerbase and regular updates. Elder Tale was an alright sort of game, a bit archetypal at times but nevertheless interesting enough to draw you in. Take that new expansion for example, Novasphere Pioneers; no-one had a clue what a Novasphere was nor how to pioneer it, but it made for an entertaining distraction when he should be marking homework.

Personality:
Ryan Haraldsson is in essence, a lazy bastard. When all's said and done, most work can wait til tomorrow and you don't get in that much trouble for missing the odd deadline, so why rush? That said, Ryan takes his hobbies very, very seriously and puts far more time and effort into them than he really should. A lot of the time he seems half asleep, chilling out at the side of the group while everyone argues about what bar to go to, but as soon as that first round is ordered, Ryan becomes the life of the party. His repertoire of party tricks include the One-Chug Pint, the Leaning Tower of Bottles and the infamous How to Steal a Bottle of Vodka from Behind the Bar trick. In-game he is much the same, often playing while drunk or halfway there. Ryan will sit to one side of the party, listening with half an ear to the strategies discussed before bombing it into battle with more gusto than anyone else present. While he doesn't often act it, Ryan can be quite a mature person at times and is professionally skilled at looking after younger people. His age and profession make him quite emotionally stable, not taken to bouts of anger or irrational moods. He also tends to use his avatar's body to his advantage, with mixed results.

IN GAME

In-Game Name: Brandenburg
In-Game Gender: Female
Race: Wolf Fang

In-Game Appearance:

In her full glory, Brandenburg stands a good 5"10". While her armour changes regularly as new loot is acquired, she tries to keep to a Napoleonic era German theme, with a great flowing Imperial coat, a classic bicorne and a loose dress shirt that does nothing to hide her amble chest (as Ryan intended). Her sharp Wolf Fang ears vary from being up and alert during combat to flopping down the sides of her head at any other time.

Class: Swashbuckler
Class Level: 73
Skills:
[Flurry]
A basic Swashbuckler attack, [Flurry] launches a chain of twelve rapid attacks on a single target.

[Leaping Thrust]
The Swashbuckler leaps forward to deliver a punishing hit. Useful for jumping to a target out of melee range.

[Blinding Speed]
Slashes across the enemy's eyes, stunning them for up to three seconds and interrupting spellcasting.

[Dance of Blades]
A high-level channelled attack, [Dance of Blades] throws the Swashbuckler into a massive series of attacks in a 90 degree arc, stunning and dealing extreme damage to all targets within range over ten seconds. Any damage to the Swashbuckler during this time cancels the attack. The cooldown last several hours, making it an ace-in-the-hole, last resort attack.

Subclass: Aristocrat
Subclass Level: 52
Sub Skills:
[Airs and Graces]
Subtly changes the reactions from certain People of the Land, as they instinctively know that this person is a member of the nobility (in a way).

[Items of Quality]
Unlocks certain items in some Lander shops, generally rare ingredients and vanity items.

Equipment

Head:
[Junker's Bicorne] [Production Class]
A rather regal bicorne with a hefty plume, this hat gives negligible stat bonuses, but looks pretty damn stylish.

Body:
[Captain's Pride] [Artefact Class]
A rare drop from a mid-level raid boss, this coat gives a bonus to attack speed and crit chance.

Arms:
Left:

[Deliverance] [Production Class]
Despite being ludicrously expensive, this kukri is an outstanding DoT weapon, adding stacks of bleeding damage with every hit. When paired with its twin, [Absolution], it is one of the most effecting late-game DoT Swashbuckler weapons.

Right:

[Absolution] [Production Class]
The twin blade to [Deliverance], this kukri adds a stack of [Fury] to the user each time it hits, increasing the user's attack speed by 5%, up to a maximum of 50%. When used together these knives are perfectly suited to fighting raid bosses as the damage they deal increases over time, but are somewhat less effective when fighting weaker enemies.

Accessories:
[Pernicious Band of the Spelunker] [Magic Class]
A ring that gives a bit of a trade-off in terms of stats; -10% defence but +15% movement speed.

Miscellaneous:
As a British man, Ryan speaks with a fairly middle class English accent. When playing as Brandenburg however, he puts on quite a strong German one; after the Catastrophe however, he tends to only use the German accent when trying to sound particularly impressive or exotic.

Brandenburg speaks passably good German, enough for Ryan to land a job teaching it.

Has a habit of yelling 'Brandenburg' when charging; quite fond of her historic references.

While Brandenburg generally uses her twin kukris in combat, she does also carry a pair of basic Magic class sabres for grinding and style.
