This is specifically going to be vague and brief because I have been burned on one too many long OPs. Granted, those were on different sites, but better safe than sorry.

The premise of this role-play is that each player is a king who pledged loyalty the Aedrial the Great of Blood Spires three centuries ago after he took the Isle of Kings back from the wild men of the jungles of Durutoon. Hailed as a hero, he built the Bone Keep from the ashes of the isle and had the ashes and crushed skeletons of the wild men mixed with water to decorate his crown. Now the wild men want revenge, and border attacks are skyrocketing. Villages are burning. The Far Lands, known to traders as Kirkrakod, Auruaii, the Gold Isles, and the Fierce-Lands, are discontent with the imperial ambitions of Emperor Saaderion Aedrial of Blood Spires. Rumors of blood magic and dead hordes in these lands are spread throughout Deraelium. The North seek more support from the Emperor to guard against the Frozen Clans and the South beg support for peasant rebellions due to the drought. The Rock Islands threaten rebellion, and thus a cutoff from the Imperial Fleet, if rations are not sent to help the starving folk of the mining island. The Ever-Autumn Isles are in chaos ever since the Imperial Ban on Magical Activities nearly destroyed their home. A massive refugee crisis from the war between Odikarad and Aavosia means that Lord's Harbor is overflowing. The Imperial Alliance is in chaos, and it falls to the court of the Isle of Kings to hold the damn thing together.

The story will be told in first person present tense from the perspective of each king. Each post is likely to be several messengers coming to tell the king of some news, the king's reaction, and one in a few will probably be a battle. On occasion, you may change perspective to a hero of some kind or something more grunt-like, but those should be separate posts and done in addition to a commitment of one post per week (unless notice is given). Each week on Friday I will write up some brief notes about current events and settle battle outcomes, diplomatic talks, and other such things. However, I don't really like posting as a character and GM'ing. As such, I'll hold court, put some lines in the OOC, and leave the rest to the players. Court will happen every in-game year during the Fair-Leaf Festival where travel time is the slowest.

In the OOC and in here as interest is expressed I'll add some more about ethnicities and probably tweak the Kingdom Sheet. Note that you SHOULD NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE AT THIS TIME BE MAKING A KINGDOM SHEET UNTIL THE OOC IS ANNOUNCED. I have provided it so you know what to expect, especially with the image count and the lords thing. That can get tricky.

Note that I made the sheet too long on accident. Five paragraphs for history is the only hard minimum. The rest of the filler text is really more of a maximum. Your King's biography should be fairly lengthy, but your characters can for the most part be one paragraph about biography and a few lines about royal relations. Also, don't worry, you will have plenty of time to complete the sheet. I know it looks daunting.

Also, forgot one more thing: I need Co-GM(s). PM me about that. Your responsibility will be fair rolling for the military stuff and the sheet, as well as settling disagreements fairly.

And yet another thing, if you have a question about the setting, the answer is almost certainly 'it's like Game of Thrones'. Ask it anyways, but note that it is the outline for the setting.

I hesitate greatly when somebody says generic. Whilst the architecture and most other things are about 1300 CE, Alchemy thrives greatly. Medical science is not far off from where it is today, it is simply warped and presented differently. On the whole, there are far fewer deaths from diseases, and a lot more from old age. Irrigation practices are widespread, and concrete is well-developed. Steel is somewhat scarce, and thus a commodity too rare for buildings, however the arts in general thrive. Furthermore, religious persecution/discrimination is very rare except in some kingdoms and even that can range from eye color to sexual preferences. Also, prostitution is 100% legal and nobles are less dressed up. GDP per capita and general welfare is also up.

In any case, I am glad to see early interest.

I can't quite tell if this is sarcasm. If it wasn't, thank you, however I feel like most of the OP is me telling you to write long things compared to my rather pint-sized OP. If it was, ya, I know, I was in a time crunch, more to come in the OOC.

Just a general poll, does anybody have an objection to the secondary character control thing? I am trying to balance not overreaching with plot guidance, but I am not sure if it leans too far one way or the other.
