A Small Introduction To The RP
In a certain University in Tokyo (NO, not Tokyo University. That's like, so cliche), a man decides to set his dreams into motion.
The campus was filled with pamphlets overnight and the next day the students could read them as they hung from various walls, and doors, and windows... and even some food trays.
The guy seemed to be obsessed with it, and for a good reason, or so he thought at least.
Does the sound of blues move your soul?
Does the beats of pop thrill your heart?
Does the violin of classic give you goosebumps?
If you love music like I do, if you want to follow your dreams like I do, if you want to play the beats inside your heart like I do, then come to the
Signed, Kazama Kazuki (風間 和希) .
So the pamphlet read.
However this 'Kazama Kazuki' was, he seemed really eager. Even his name's first kanji meant 'harmony', for the love of God. He was definitely an odd one, but passionate none the less.
Many guessed it would be a total fluke. There wasn't even a Music major to begin with in that University, and even then most popular music nowadays, like Idols and whatnot, is produced instead of worked from the heart.
Some thought that perhaps the Japanese just didn't have it in them anymore, a really intense love for music like Kazama Kazuki's.
Kazuki was glad to see that they were wrong.

The Music Appreciation Society, Onshoukai,(音楽 鑑賞 研究会) in the second building, classroom A-31! We, well, I, just opened!

This is going to be an RP centering around the Music Appreciation Society, also known as Onshoukai (short of Onagaku Kanshou Kenkyuukai) in their search for their dreams and in a quest to attain possible fame! But of course, having just band members would be boring. At some point, they get involved with, I dunno, a tech club, a club of groupies that emerged in their university, a mentor, their club advisor, lovers, rival bands.
Though it will start as a small group of about 8 people, I may open the RP again for more people as we advance.
What to expect from this RP
- A high-casual or low-advanced, whichever feeds your ego the most, level of writing.
- An extremely character driven story. It is the characters that shape this story, NOT the story shaping the characters.
- Character progress! Because everyone loves that! Right?
- Relationships between characters that will only grow more complicated as time goes on.
- Romance? Yes please. Despite everything of me that just screams 'WEEABOO' with the waifus and whatnot, I am a hopeless romantic. I expect, NAY, I DEMAND ROMANCE IN THIS RP. If it is not too much to ask.
- I am really comfortable with gay relationship or asexual, merely romantic, ones. I think they spice up the story. Just... don't make this a yaoi or yuri paradise. (I'm looking at you, legion of fujoshis and... most men).
- The fact that a band is not made up of just the band members! They might be the ones showing their faces the most, but the guys backstage deserve just as much recognition.
- An episodic progress. Not like anime episodes, more like book chapters.
- Decisions that will actually affect the RP.
- And lastly, DRAMA, DRAMA AND MORE DRAMA! Make your characters fight! Make them reconcile! A band member is expulsed! Two best friends become lovers only to see that it just doesn't work! A character has to abandon their dreams because they need to be the next doctor in line to take charge of their parents' hospital! Another one needs to leave for another country and can't say goodbye! The gay guy gets depressed because the guy he had his eye on rejected him! The gay girl gets into a fist fight with the guy that tried to grope her! The music teacher and one of the band members get into a questionable relationship! I DUNNO! GIMME DRAMA! GIMME AN STORY WORTH REMEMBERING! THAT'S WHAT THIS RP IS GOING TO BE ALL ABOUT!

Some Rules
Cause no RP is complete without 'em.
- No Mary Sues, Gary Stus or similars.
- No Metagaming (not sure if this might work here, but all the same. If your character doesn't know something and but you do, then don't write it IC)
- No Godmodding
- Interact with other characters. Not necessarily positive interactions. If your character is shy, then just have them brushing the others aside or something.
- Romance is heavily encouraged, but nothing beyong PG-13. Anything past that goes to PM and you have to leave us with a cliffhanger and a fadeaway.
- Pointless swearing and dirty jokes are all right OOC, if everybody is all right with 'em.
- Also, if you are chatting with another member of the RP about something unrelated to the RP, and the chat drags for too long, tkae it to PM's.
- No flame wars, please. If there is something, solve it at PM's or bring it to me. I'll see what I can do about it.
- Character Sheets need to be posted in the Character section, otherwise they WON'T be reviewed.
- If you are going away for some time and can't post, then just tell me. Your character will leave for a vacation as well and may bring whatever with him to rehearse.
- I usually give people the benefit of doubt, so if you can't post for a while, I'll wait for you at least a week. The others are free to move on and handle your character as they see fit to go on with the story. If you get past that week, your character will suddenly resign from the band in one way or the other, may even become a huge plot point. Also, you may be able to return after you come back, so ask.
- And lastly, have fun!
- More rules may be added at my discresion.
Lastly, some info on the RP and how it will start
We will be starting the RP right at the meeting of the characters at the club, and will then follow up to how they start coordinating as a band and get to know each other better.
There will be parties, concerts, and other things! Trips and training camps too, anything I can think of, really.
The Rp will move in an episodic manner. No, not in like anime episodes, more like book chapters.
Everything the characters do will have heavy influence in the story, and there will be various turning points all over the place when the RP starts. If you didn't rehearse enough before a concert? You'll miss several notes and the people will berate you. The tech got sloppy? The sound is gonna mess up at the middle of the concert.
Various failed concerts will result in growing tensions between the band members. Too much tension will lead to the band disbanding. Perhaps that's how the RP will end, or perhaps we'll play afterwards in some roof or other(*cough* beatles). Regardless of the outcomes, good or bad ones, it will all contribute to the story.
Every little decision will and every character will count. So always remember that, all right?
Also, I am not good at coming up with names for groups of people so I'd greatly appreciate it if you come up with a better name for the band.
Useful links
These two are provided by Gowi and you can use them to make a more realistic character. You can also use this to check what your character can major in.
Education in Japan - The average/expected age of a first year is 18, though anime rules might make for exceptions.
Universities in Japan - What I like to do is research majors in critical universities when I do stuff like this. Accuracy and Immersion and all that.
Thanks @Gowi!
