Personality: Capricious but cavalier. Life is too short to not make the most of it.
Alignment: Chaotic neutral
Diety: "I surely believe in the gods, only a divine force could screw us all over this bad."
Skills: Survival: As much a skill as a way of life, he knows how to make every day count and spread every morsel of food to its limit. Bonecarving: As useful a skill as carpentry in this day and his family's surname for good reason. Music: Not a bard like his mother, he still knows at least two handfuls of sea-songs to pass the time Poison use: the skill to not kill himself while trying to kill others. Weapons: Daggers: His nickname namesake is his seemingly endless supply of the small weapons. Small and light like him but laced with poison from his animal companion. He is skilled enough to dance about in melee to lower his foes to his level and fling the weapon from port to pin someone to starboard.
Items: Fine leather armor studded with bones he got from his canabalistic cousins, he never ever asked what kind of leather they are made from. Breeches, shirt, belt, boots, gloves. 100 of rope, bone feast ware in a satchel. Scrimshaw kit. Boat: No boat. Background: Son of a bard and a lucky man. His mother plays music for gifts and he sings along, but he could never get the same passion as she could. His was rote, hers was raw. One day he was playing with some uncooked synth and surprised them ass with his skill at shaping a flute for his mom. It didn't play, but he had the skill she wanted to encourage into something better. They settled down in trees for a few years where he apprenticed under a carver in exchange for music at every meal. A decade slipped past until he was a full journeyman, his mother had fallen in love with the carver and settled in permanently as part of the family. But now his wanderlust stirred, he had to catch the horizon.
He left with a kit and got on a fishermans boat, the first month in they caught a storm and were swept to the jungle. between things that wanted to eat them in the water and things that wanted to eat them in the trees, it was more survival than adventure. Thankfully, He had a skill the tribe did not, so he would leave small shark-jaw carvings and teeth for the canabals, and they would leave supplies for them. Eventually they were rescued by loggers looking for jungle wood and managed to get passage back to the next major population.
That adventure under his belt, he couldn't wait for the next.
6'6" and swimmers lean build, he's gorgeous and he knows it. Because of his racial resistance to fire, he never suffers sunburns. Personality: Highly charismatic and he knows it. Often wielding it as carefully as his knife. He is pragmatic and calculating, keeping himself on the side of the LAW more than the good and evil axis, using it like a shield to protect him. Alignment: LE Diety: Asmodeous Skills: Knowledge, local/nobility/law: A must for him to keep safe from prejudice Professional Lawyer: A feeds B and B feeds A, one might as well get paid for what one does. Healer: Even without his clerical gifts, he still knows how to set bones and mend flesh. Weapons: Magic: A few spells from his Lords list to keep himself and others alive. AT MINIMUM he always has "create water" and "cure light wounds" memorized in order to remain a helpful cleric..For a price. Dagger: Nothing special, just a knife of synth. On deck of a ship, he often uses the gaff sticks to keep others at reach or push overboard. Items: Tattoos of law: With paper such a rarity, he had taken to penning down laws onto his skin for easy retrieval. He keeps each region on a different part of his body to keep the laws separate. Leather armor: [Leather vest, leather boots, leather breeches] the days of chainmail clerics is long since past. Jugs: A set of four gallon containers made from Synth with lids. Water is life. Boat: No boat.
Background: In the last great war, as the floods were coming, there were those who made bargains with whoever or whatever would listen. One of those who kept an ear open were the aquatic outsiders (Myrmyxicus, Skulvyn, Wastrilith, Xerfilstyx, Sarglagon and Hezrou) looking to make deals with the desperate. Those that survived were often warped into aquatic half-fiends who still died to the new dangers of their new life. A very few survived and he is the descendant of one of the survivors.
He grew up on the deck of the pirate ship "The Devils' Damsels' ", his mother was the second in command of the blood red boat with flaming sails (permanent continual flame on the canvas) and he spent many years being the only boy on the amazon boat. Sadly piracy is a short lived lifestyle and he found himself floating on the remains of the mast for three weeks with only the single incantation for water to save him.
He was picked up by a dragonborn captain and offered his clerical skills to pay his way onto the ships position as surgeon. One cannot dismiss a life of piracey, but one can hide behind the law for his deeds and do what he can to put some black in his ledger. But if things of a questionable nature come to pass, he will do what he can to lead them through the moral morass with the benefit to them.
@knighthawk Cool they both look good. I'm just not sure how much law is really left on Azmier. I imagine that there would be some in three trees and the other two major cities.
Finished now! Sorry if it's a bit messy, I'll proof read it again in a little bit.
Name: Otaerhyn "Rhyn" Amlaruil Age: 27 Race: Half Elf - Aquatic Elf/Human Class: 'Pirate'/Swashbuckler (explained below, I will change anything you deem necessary)
Rhyn is a svelte, toned woman, standing at 5'9" and weighing around 120 lbs when well-fed. She has noticeable muscle definition and several scars across her pale, almost lavender, skin, as well as countless freckles from her time in the sun. Periwinkle tresses fall down her shoulders to her mid-back, which she'll usually keep up to avoid hassle. Rhyn is a comely girl with plump lips a few shades darker than her skin and bright, icy blue eyes. With her angular face and graceful build, her elven heritage is very obvious to humans. With her 'wide' shoulders and neutral voice, her human heritage is very obvious to elves. Her coloring, however, assures just what type of elf is in her blood. She normally dresses very plainly but, because of her lack of sufficient clothing, she often just goes without when she's on her own.
Personality: Rhyn is a thoughtful person who doesn't go out of her way to make trouble or cause scenes. More often than not, she quietly goes about her own business. She isn't very trusting of others, mostly because the people she meets are intrigued by her race in some way, positive or negative. This makes her blunt and often dull to others, but she merely is not completely comfortable when in the presence of strangers. She prefers not to deal with it. She is a good person, and does help others when she can, but will only inconvenience herself to do so, not endanger.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Deity: N/A
Skills: -Sailor: Rhyn has spent her life on the sea. She can live inside of it, so it only makes sense that she knows how to travel it. She has had the same boat for years now, and she knows how to run it herself. -Swashbuckler: She knows how to use a sword. It's a light, fleeting style that focuses more on outmaneuvering an opponent instead of overpowering them. -Physically Fit: She spends almost all of her time swimming and running the rigging of her boat. She is always on her feet and doesn't tire easily. -Aquatic Harvesting: Having been raised by her elven mother, Rhyn spent most of her young life completely underwater. She can live off of the sea, which is made easy with her ability to breathe underwater. This does not only include essentials such as food or hydration (I'm guessing she can drink seawater, right?), but also skills such seaweed weaving and diving.
Weapons: -Simple Scimitar: A simple blade crafted from the bone of a large aquatic mammal. -Harpoon: A long bone shaft, pointed on both ends, good for throwing through the air or water.
Boat:The Roiling Maiden Although Rhyn did not name her vessel, she has taken to calling it such with a smirk after she had heard it named such by others during one of few visits to Three Tress - after the strange, nude maiden seen hoisting the vessel's rigging. It is a relatively small vessel, although it could transport a good amount of bodies if it was required. It is approximately 30 feet in length and in recent conditions could house a handful comfortably. At the bow there is a covered space that now acts as Rhyn's boudoir instead of a stowage compartment. It is a sturdy boat that has seen countless storms and rocky waters. A few scratches adorn its hull, but there is no serious damage.
Background: Rhyn was the half-breed child of an aquatic elf who lived on the outskirts of a relatively small underwater city. She never knew her human father and her mother never told her about him. Growing up was relative uneventful for the aquatic elf. Her home had not undergone the apocalyptic changes as the surface, and the city she knew bustled with activity from the many other aquatic elves that live there. But, Rhyn always looked to the sun. She was ever curious of her father, the world he knew, and just how people could live on the surface at all! In her youth, surfacing only brought the sight of endless sea. Despite her curiosity, the desolation of the surface world scared her from ever exploring it.
In her adolescence, Rhyn was misguided and confused, having never really fit in with the full-blooded elves in her surroundings. They had low opinions of the surface races, though that was because of centuries old bad blood between community leaders and the humans of old, instead of any recent developments, as there were none. As such, she was viewed as different, despite how little her human blood manifested in her in any significant way other than her appearance. Luckily, most people had the decency to merely avoid her and weren't violent or specifically hurtful to her. Despite constantly pestering her mother, she had learned nothing of the surface world, or her own birth. She knew that her story must have been somewhat interesting, due to the rarity of it, but her mother. She took many trips to the surface on her own. She never saw anything unfamiliar. At most, she saw breaching whales in the distance, or a strangely shaped cloud over head. Never any ships, never any birds.
She matured much faster than her peers thanks to her human blood. Rhyn was up and ready to go her own way much before her mother was ready for her to. But, Rhyn in part blamed her mother for her wanderlust, for never having answered the questions she had of her father. She felt no obligation to stay, when she believe the world outside held the answers she wanted. She left home at the age of 20, traveling through different cities owned by her people to little effect. Not long after she left home, she found a letter in her bag, from her mother, explaining the story of her father. Apparently, her mother had once lived on the surface centuries ago, and only resigned to living once again under the water after the Big Wave. But she always missed the surface, so she went back up in hopes of helping the people above. However, the people there were much different than they had been before, and the first humans she met were a group of marauders who captured her and did unspeakable things to her. She fled back to the sea, only to discover she was carrying one of the humans' child. Rhyn continued with her journey, not wanting to go home, and unsure whether or not she still wanted to go to the surface.
She was hoping on gathering information, or meeting people who had been to the surface, but she never really found a place much more willing to interact with her than her home town. Eventually, she just started to drift around, both on the surface of the water and the sea floor. She had continually visited the surface since her childhood, and it was after three years of wandering that she found something on the surface. It was a boat. She saw it long before she surfaced, and if she were ever asked, it was probably one of the most profound moments of her life. So used to empty, endless ocean, and an undisturbed surface, when she actually realized the silhouette she saw was on the surface, she stopped and stared for at least an hour. She didn't know if approaching it was a wonderful or terrible idea. She surfaced, and stalked the boat for a few days before she realized that there was no one aboard.
She boarded the boat, only to discover it was much smaller and less intricate than she expected. The crew, she discovered, was dead. Upon inspection, it looked as though they had run out of supplies and died slowly, one of them missing pieces of his flesh where his brothers had gotten desperate. She pushed there bodies overboard, and took command of the vessel. As time went on, she became familiar with the boat's rigging. While she once hunted with a bone spear, she kept a curved sword from the last owners of her vessel, and taught herself to wield it the best she could. When she gained the courage Rhyn decided to try and find humans with a map that was on the boat, and eventually, she did. Ever since, Rhyn really just travels the ocean, at times returning to Three Trees when she finds herself needed company.
That was longer than expected! It's done now. I'll be willing to take people onto her boat, but the way I set her up is that she's been alone for a while. GM, I know you wanted one aquatic elf for reasons, so please let me know if she's up to par!
Appearance: Keiji isn't the most attractive man in Azmier, but there seems to be something... soothing about his appearance. He stands at normal height, 5'9 or so but he carries himself so well he it's as if he's taller. He is lanky and has long limbs, with his arms reaching down to about his knee. His fingers and toes are especially long. Speaking of toes, his feet can act almost as if they were hands, able to grab objects with ease. He has a short, stubby nose and small brown eyes. He has a long, black tail that he can move around at will, but it can also be moved by wind, water, etc. Keiji has short, spiky black hair with long sideburns that almost reach his mouth. He is in very good shape with well toned muscles and a great cardiovascular system. (Monkey form) Small, when standing on back legs is only 3 feet or so, and when on all fours is 1 1/2 feet tall. Black fur and black eyes. The skin on his face and hands/feet is dark brown, like a tanned leather. He has very sharp teeth, capable of ripping fingers from hands and toes from feet, noses from faces, etc.
Personality: Keiji is a very cheerful and optimistic person. When things are looking down, he can usually get his companions moral way up. He loves having as many friends as possible because he dislikes being alone. Keiji needs not just allies, but friends to make him satisfied. Although Keiji is a very friendly person, when he gets mad, his temper is extreme. He is more vicious than a Inu Hengeyokai (dog). However, he doesn't know how to utilize this temper so the rage goes usually unused. Keiji is very smart and wise, but you wouldn't know that by just looking at him because he appears to be foolish and too silly.
Alignment: Neutral Good
Diety: None
Skills: Martial arts Persuasion? Things that monkeys can do (climb, jump far, swing by ropes, etc)
Weapons: Kusarigama (chain-sickle) made of a synth handle and a rope about 2-3 feet long connecting the handle to a smaller, palm sized synth ball (also used as weapon). The blade is made of sharpened bone. (Allowed?) (Recommend looking it up to see what it looks like) Light crossbow made of synth with animal fat and guts stringed down to make an elastic string. Bolts made purely of bone.
Items: Fingerless gloves and toeless shoes made of flesible synth-like material. Tunic made of a combination of seal skins and sea lion skins. A journal about his adventures, his hopes and dreams, etc. Family heirloom passed down to Keiji just days before the the flood (small crystal sphere with engravings, very dear to Keiji and he would kill anybody who tried to take it). Fishing spear with synth handle and bone point. Limit a few items.
Boat: Small, rickety wooden canoe made for fun before the flood, is now Keiji's only means of flotation.
Background: Before the flood, Keiji lived in a grand jungle village, with homes in the trees and his family and friends were all close by. He would go fishing in their pond with his canoe, he would swing from vines with his brothers and sisters. It was the perfect life for a Saru Hengeyokai like Keiji. His parents were nobles of the village and respected among Hengeyokai. He was supposed to take his father's spot in the village. It was supposed to happen soon before... the flood. A giant wave, taller than every jungle tree was coming straight for his village. Keiji saw it first and sounded the alarm in the middle of the jungle. Everybody ran frantically, trying to find a way to survive the catastrophe. Keiji grabbed the hand of his smallest sister and ran, urging his family to follow him. As they ran, they approached the pond and the wave was already within minutes of striking. He assured his siter it would all be alright, and told his family and friends to try to find something sturdy to hold on to. Keiji and his sister grabbed on to the canoe, lodged it into a hollow tree and hid... waiting... laying there... just waiting. A sudden crash and the water was everywhere. Keiji's sister lost grip of the canoe and slipped away. Keiji grabbed her and held her close as he tried to swim for air. A tree was lifted from the ground and smashed into him, making him go unconscious and let go of his sister. When he woke up, he was on top of his canoe which was turned over. The jungle was gone. Nobody was in sight...
@knockout709 Keiji is only 29 years old and the big wave happened 200 years ago. Needs to be revised. The idea is great and every thing is fine other then that. ______ If you are 201 years old you where born one year before the big wave.

Boat: Small, rickety wooden canoe made as a life boat.
New Background: When Keijin was born, it had already been almost 170 years. His father was dead, apparently killed by looter goblins before he was born. He heard his dad was a great man, the leader of their ship. But when he died, someone else took charge... Botan. He was a brute, a mad Inu Hengeyokai (dog). He would abuse and slap the shipmates around like they were his slaves. He took advantage of Keijin's mother, saying he would kill her son if she didn't do what he made her do. And what he made her do... it made Keijin furious. As he grew older and watched the pain he put people through in a world that was already pain enough. When Keijin became 16, he decided he had to do something. In the night when most of the crew was sleeping, he snuck into the captain's quarters. Inside was Botan, sleeping with bottles of empty alcohol abundant on the floor. Keijin saw Botan's weapon leaning on the wall, grabbed it, and whacked Botan with the mighty club. However, Botan seemed unaffected. He woke up and grabbed Keijin, pulled him to the top of the ship and held him over the ledge. Botan screamed and strangled Keijin. His mother woke up, and so did the others. They screamed and yelled at Botan to stop, but he laughed and once Keijin had almost lost consciousness, dropped him into the water. Keijin awoke on one of the life boats that somebody must have dropped down after Botan had walked away. The ship was gone... he had to start over... a new life... new people, a new family.
Appearance: Tall, athletic build. Handsome face, even for an Orc, with the only faults being a scar across left cheek and nose. Has red hair tied into a short pony tail, and is always clean shaven. Always has a michevous look in his eyes, and a smirk on his lips.
Personality: Cunning, crude sense of humour and ruthless. Loyal only to himself, those he fancies and those who he respects and can be charming if he wants to be.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Deity: Doesn't know any, doesn't care
Skills: Dirty fighting techniques, good sailor, good fisherman
Weapons: Bone knife and a wooden cudgel with Orchish writing on it.
Items: Pants, belt and pouch, small satchel and a hip flask.
Boat: A small boat, big enough for a few to sleep in, if they don't mind touching each other, with a sail and rudder. It also has a set of oars for when there are multiple people onboard so as to speed up their journey.
Background: Was born on the infamous Orc pirate ship that prowls the waters. Grew up learning how a ship works, how to fight and how to fish from those much older, wiser and experienced than him. Killed his first person at age 12 during a boarding action against another ship. Captured his first ship when he was 14, though it was a one man craft, it did have a lot of scrap and salvage. Got in trouble with the ships captain because he slept with his son, a few times, and was banished from the ship. Before he was banished, he had one more session with the Captains son, stole the Captains prize cudgel, and got as far away from that ship as possible. Became a mercenary for a while for other ships and towns, fought against other groups of pirates, held real steel in his hand for a moment before he lost it. He even gambled a bit, and pretty well, till he had enough to buy his own little boat. He hopes to one day have a large ship and crew of his own. He still takes on jobs for others, so long as they pay well, and respect his rank as captain of his boat.
@Catchphrase Oh wow. .. "slept with his son". Lol. Please try and make the CS a bit longer if you can. Other then that it's cool. _____ Anyone who has been accepted please post your CS in the characters section. Thanks.
@Pumpkinlord I'll lengthen it out as much as I can. As to the sleeping with the son incident, seemed like a good idea at the time. Also, any particular part you think needs more fleshing out?
@Catchphrase Hmm, your history would be my guess. Everything else looks pretty good.
@knockout709 I always liked the oriental adventures. Keijis ancestors where totally from the stereotypically asian D&D continent that was on Azmier before the flood!! Lol
