We are the weak, sharing the world with beasts that seem to hold the power of gods. Nightmares that rule the skies, terrors that own the sea and rampage the land. lagiacrus, Ludroth, brachydios, the list will always go on and there seems to be no end in sight. There is no other way but to live with these creatures that share our home. Living in fear day by day thinking that it may be our last humans hide in the shelters in their towns that can be taken down by the magnitude of monsters that seem to be worlds away.
Yet all is not lost. Where in the links of the weak, their lie those who stand strong. Hunters, with weapons crafted of fallen foes and armour glistening with victory they stand as our protectors. They stand as those who will go against the will of beasts who's size can not be fathomed until seen. There are Tamers, those who live with the beasts and keep their lives on the line for any wrong move made will be the end of a bond and their lives. Guilds formed, friendships created. Hunters are here and they will always be here. But they do not live forever, where the great make their stead they must step down, handing their legacy to a new generation of those who will take their place. Those who will make their guild great and start their journey as they once have done long ago.
Welcome to monster hunter! Where you play as a hunter and rise your name or your guild's. Make friends, rivals, and try your best to stay alive. From gathering resources to keep villages stocked to taking out the largest most dangerous beasts that are terrorizing your home the life of a hunter is never easy and their job is never done.
Yes I know I don't like em ether but a guild of trained brutes that kill dragons for a living needs to have some control.
1: No god modding No controlling another player's character unless they have given you permission that you can prove has happened.
2: No op You can't just start the game with brachydios armour while everyone else has Jaggi weapons. It makes everything lop sided and if you played monster hunter than you should know one of the things that make it stand out is how much work you put into getting better yourself with no levelling. Don't take away from the fun.
3: Dice plays a small part here. When you go on Jobs I will role a d20 and based on that I will tell you how rare your loot is or if you succeed or not. The entire game is not based around dice, just the job portion of it. Everything else is 100% under your control.
4: You can die Dead serious, if you decide to go out on a job by yourself that is beyond your ability I will role a d20 and if its below 5 than you're dead. This is not for every job, just if you decide to do something stupid.
5: You can have more than one character. If you die but want to continue than bring in a new character. If you want two at a time your going to have to convince me but I will allow some to control more than one at the same time depending on how many players.
6: Not a first come first serve Give your character life. A story, a goal, make him or her feel real and be proud of them. I don't want something just thrown in here so I might turn you away if someone after you has clearly put in more work for their character. Make someone you would be proud to call your own.
7: Have fun! This is a game of adventure. Of challenge and cooperation. Anything can happen, test the boundaries, take risks, make friend, alliances, go on a adventure and lets make this a tale that kicks ass!
Name Age Gender Appearance Personality Armour: (Is it light or heavy? And what monster, is it from different types of monsters? Or is it a starting set using leather or ore? Please keep your starting armour under 3 star monsters) Weapon: (Weapons can be any kind from the games. What monster is it from and yes you can change it in the future)
Backstory: (Anything worth noting, please be detailed) Other: (Anything interesting you want us to know. Fears, goals, quirks anything really.)
This is your monster handbook. It may look like there are not a whole lot of monsters out there right now, but thats because you need to go out and discover them yourself.
Felynes are recognized by their white fur and have the ability to talk in human language, and can be found both in human villages and in the wild. They perform a small variety of jobs in villages, from shopkeeping to farm maintenance, but most notably they may work under a hunter as Felyne Chefs or Felyne Comrades. Felyne Chefs cook food for their hunters to support them in their adventures,
Wild Melynx appear in groups and, when they spot a hunter in their area, they attempt to steal items. Once they obtain an item, they run away and dig underground, never to be encountered again. The stolen items do mysteriously appear in a base that moves location to location.
Kelbi are peaceful creatures. Coming in blue and green they are known for having large horns that can grow to impressive lengths for their small bodies. these horns have been used is most medicine and have been the cure to many illness that can be found in both monster and human.
Aptonoth are cow-like creatures with leathery gray skin. They have black stripes along their backs and a head reminiscent of a Hadrosaur. They have a large, two-pronged crest protruding from their heads and a flat, spiked tail. These docile creatures are hunted for their meat by humans and other monsters. They always travel in groups. When one Aptonoth is threatened, others will run away for safety, but sometimes the alpha male of the Aptonoth will attempt to fight back before fleeing himself.
While Jaggi are carnivorous, aggressive and agile they are still a target for novice hunters. Vocalizing warnings for long periods of time they are left open to attack when first encountered. Good at jumping long distances Jaggi are seen to be formed in packs and scavenge. Its the great Jaggi that hunters need to worry about when first starting out. More than three times the size of a normal jaggi Great Jaggi act as a pack leader. Vocalizing just like their smaller pack members, instead of warning they are calling more jaggi in the surrounding area. Their tail is able to break the backs of a new hunter and would need to be prepared when hunting them for the first time.
Job Board
Here is where jobs will present themselves, be sure to check up on here to see if there are new monsters to hunt, trap, or if there is something that needs to be found.
Only one job seems to be given to the guild!
Hello there future hunter! It seems that you are new and ready to burst out of the starting gate. So as a favour from the comity we are offering you your own living quarters right in the guild hall located in Moga village! Isn’t that wonderful? All you have to do is somehow make it all the way out there in one piece. But eager hunters should have no problem. Yes, Moga village is the most out of the way town in the country but we gotta start somewhere right? Besides it has a wonderful view of the ocean. Please leave your hate mail on the address below.
Note, that you can alter what is here. But these are the basic ideas of armour that is started. This list will change when you guys kill more monsters and see what kind of armour can be made out of them. you don't have to change into them though.
Huh? What do you lot want? Armour? Weapons? Well ya got to go and bring me the materials. Go out and kill some beasts will ya? Till than this here is all I got so no complaining. You want to decorate em thats on your own time.
Blade master, all iron, bit on the heavy side but if your swinging anything but duel blades than it can save your shoulder.
Leather huh? Not great for much but insect killing and running away. Guess its good when you go out scavenging for materials.
Chain mail, found this guy in the back. Came from one of those knights in the cities that thought they could take on Moga woods. Don't be like him aright. Works well with a sword and shield combo.
Bnahabra armour, classy yes, makes you as light as a Bnahabra, but how on earth could you deal with all the bug guts needed to make that? oh well, least you can say you killed what your wearing now.
Gunner armour? So a shooter huh? Well its the safest place, away from the chaos.
Great swords are the largest of the hunting weapons. Easily the size of the user if not bigger and can be made from the skull, spine or in some rarer cases, teeth of a monster. Extremely slow they are used for the ones that posses the strength of a monster. But using one means you might not want to fight alone for you are the power house. The tank to hide behind. A side note of the great sword is that you can accidentally or purposely launch another hunter so be careful!
Not as heavy as the great sword a long sword is still around 6-8 feet in length. Range to keep everything from you but your weakness is that once a smaller monster gets through your range you no longer have the edge with that blade.
The heart of a knight beats strong within these fighters. Dose not deal nearly as much damage, but do not be discouraged. The sword and shield is so light that you can cover for the big guns while having a shield to protect yourself from forceful blasts. Be light on your feet but don't worry, you can mess up once in a while with that shield. Stabbing is the best use for this weapon.
made for the quick, the agile and the acrobatic. Those who master the duel blades are seen running right into the chaos and rolling under the bellies of monsters. They can't take a hit as well as their comrades, but when a monster is down they are seen as the fastest at dealing damage. Two blade in hand you can constantly attack and not get worn out as fast but it will be smaller damage blow for blow. Dodging is their best friend.
The bigger the badder. Hammers are not made for slicing, but for the crushing of bones, great for slowing down a monster to keep them from running away they are sometimes seen as being used as a shield by veteran hunters. Your going to want a buddy to help you cut through the hide but not many can deal with a blow from you.
Not as heavy or as damaging as the hammer the hunting horn is still seen as a weapon the is perfect for the field. Having few notes its not only used to take down monsters but with a god pair of lungs you can use its sound to attract hem right to you.
long weapons that can strike from a distance. The Lance is always accompanied by a large shield which grants a powerful defense against most attacks. Although slow and difficult to travel with, the weapon's damage output can be considerable. Those who are trained with the lance are seen to sometimes use it to launch themselves in the air.
also known as GL, are long, piercing weapons with a mechanism inside which can fire an explosive round. Unlike Bowguns, the Gunlance cannot fire over distances; the Shelling ability can only be used from close range and reduces the weapon's sharpness with every use. Gunlances attack with a combination of simple stabs and explosive shots, which can link together in combos. Fortunately, Gunlances have an infinite amount of shells, although they have to be regularly reloaded. Gunlances are also able to charge up and unleash a strong explosive attack, known as Wyvern's Fire. This attack dramatically reduces Sharpness, however, and it takes a while to cool down before it can be used again due to overheating. Trying to do so again before it cools can cause the inside to melt and be unusable.
Its a Axe, its a sword! No its a switch axe! This weapon are for hunters who loved the cutting edge of a blade and the broadness of a axe so much that they had to take both. The blade of the axe can sink down and turn into a sword with a simple mechanism inside. The sword is faster than the axe and can pierce hides while the axe has a much wider range. Be careful though, only master hunters are skilled enough to easily switch the blades in a blink when fighting.
This double-ended rod is capable of quick, fluid attacks (like the Long Sword) and allows the hunter to jump at any time in a pole-vaulting fashion. It also is capable of summoning a Kinsect and using it to attack monsters. After locking on to a target using the projectiles that the rod can shoot, the user can freely send their Kinsect to attack the target and drain energy from it, then call it back after in order to boost the Hunter. The kinsect is always found on the arm on the hunter when not in use as a constant companion.
light blow guns are ranged weapons. As the name suggests, they are light enough to allow Hunters to run with the weapon drawn, and they can be sheathed and unsheathed very quickly. However, Light Bowguns are generally low in attack power, although this is partially compensated by different Light Bowguns being able to Rapid-Fire a specific Ammo. Blow guns come in the styles of light, medium and heavy, heavy being unable to run while carrying in hand but has the most power.
Bows are the lightest range weapon, trained hunters able to fire multiple arrows at a time to land in the tops or monsters they are great to offer support. Hunters have even found ways to make arrows explosive like the blow gun but the firing rate relies on the hunter's ability to pull back the string. It would be a wise idea to go hunting with a knife as well in case a monster gets too close.
well hello....I have always wanted to play a monster hunter game as I always fancied the idea of killing monsters and overall being a badass but alas I am yet to play one of the games...however if you are willing to help guide me in my adventures then I will return the favor with......eh screw it I dont know what else to say although I was going on abit of a epic speech roll if I do say so myself...
Anyways I am gon be reading up on this stuffs and all and I will make an app soon.
(Hell maybe if you are up to it we could create a master student duo with me being the student.)
You are more than welcome to apply! And its okay you have not played yet and still need to learn. Monster hunter is a pain for new players to jump into so its actually normal for people who been playing to explain things to beginners. I'll be putting up lists of what the monsters are and armour sets in the near future as well to give you a hand.
But if you want a video guide to see how everything works try pro Jarad, guy is a master at this game. youtube.com/watch?v=i6iYOHaGGKk
Roland is around 1,80m tall, has board shoulders and a muscular build. His taint is brownish from the daily work in the open fields and his hands scarred from them. Another long scar goes from his right ear down to his chin, it is rather fresh and not fully healed yet. His biggest trait are his green eyes, they are like emeralds, shiny yet cold!
Personality: Roland seems always cheerful and often a tad too hot blooded when going out on the hunt but those who spent some time with him tend to feel a cold lingering darkness inside him. It is just that something seems off, that his cherish behaviour is a contrast with his cold eyes or his sudden break of eye contact when things finally seem to ease up. This isn't the act of a shy man and this is what makes it uncomfortable!
Armour: Roland is wearing a medium armour right now but aims for a different one, he wears his defensive one sided to not restrict his movement with his weapons of choice, the gunlance! While sacrificing his defense with his weapons hand, the other side is built rather sturdy, meant to even take direct hits from wyvern but that is only his plan of future use!
Right now he is wearing a Jaggi Blade master armour while his gauntlets are gunner ones, to offer the one sided protection he needs.
Weapon: Roland's weapon of choice is the gunlance, right now he is using the
Backstory: Roland was the son of two farmers down in the grasland, they breeded Aptonoth as a living and well even thou that isn't lucrative you can make a living outta it! Meat and Hide were always useful and Aptonoth were also useful cattle. Back in the days when Roland's was barely 13 his father already took him out hunting, nothing more than a buffalo or a wild Aptonoth, sometimes catching ones and adding them to their own. When facing Jaggi or Velocipreys, his father used dung bombs or flash bangs to distract them and usually they ran. His father wasn't a professional hunter after all,, he did it not for the zeni but for their survival!
But one day changed everything! Through fire and flames their farm was burned down and Roland and his mother barely made it out of their farm. They heard roaring, not that of a wyvern but something worse. The roaring of laughter! It wasn't a dragon who attacked them! It were bandits! Humans! Driven from their home due to whatever what! They probably didn't even remember what is was because all they saw was meat and an easy opportunity to gain it. Roland's father stood back and fought but we easily overwhelmed and Roland's mother got an arrow through her shoulder. They spent days in the wilderness, Velocipreys on their tracks since they smelled the blood. It was then that a hunter and some Feline found them.
The hunter was a good man sadly he was mute and he had this weird feline speaking for him and so a strange relationship began! Roland's mother couldn't work anymore, the hunter used as a supervisor for his felines, espacially the ones in his kitchen. While Roland, after three years of finally succumbing his trauma, got trained by the hunter. Even then Roland and his mother barely spoke to others, it was only after 5 years that the friendly mute hunter got also badly wounded and had to retire. He and his mother married while Roland's brought in the money, he had barely money for equipment but is was okey.
Both of them died happily in each others arms just recently and so Roland decided to follow in his step-fathers footsteps and to finally make peace with himself and his past but still....the day where he had to flee from the farm carved itself deep into his memory!
Other: Able to understand a bit of sign language, feline speech and letters. Hate towards bandits Treats monsters with more respect than humans. Do not ever I'll talk about his family!
That might take awhile. If you know what kind of character you want go ahead and post. My internet needs to be updated so it takes me about an hour just to get three monsters up.
Even thou someone could easily create a story in the monster hunter universe! I mean the job descriptions are usually the background story! Which you sadly never expierience! Just look at the manga! It is full of story even thou a tad too exaggerated for my taste!
@Gravislayer Couldn’t agree with you more! Sadly the only jobs that even resemble a story outside the hunt for anything outside monster hunter 4 is when you help the village your assigned to.
