You are all different kinds of potted plants who have suddenly gained sentience but not the ability to really... do anything other than think. You don't know why or how this has happened, and that is not the immediate issue at hand either. The immediate issue is that your owner has been neglecting you for a few days and you are feeling quite parched at this point. You need to find a way to convey this issue to your owner and get them to water you, or somehow else get watered. You can worry about the matter of sentience after that.

This was never intended to actually be played or anything, just a crazy thought in passing. But I thought it'd be a fun one to share.

So, I wanted to do a Hero rp based on a nanomachine explosion, giving 20% of the public random powers (most exclusive to them). There would also be those that volunteered to be given them 5 years beforehand during a war.

I had one really off the wall one:

Earthly rockband abducted by aliens, who have been watching Humanity since we started beaming out radio waves and are totally in love with Earth music (because Alien music just doesn't cut it.) They are put to touring all sorts of alien rock arenas where crowds wait with bics in tentacles. The Terrans are subjected to alien super-LSD and consent, while stoned, to probings with alien groupies.

The drummers die a lot but there's a cloning tank. It's not optimized for humanity, so no guarantees on the stability of the clone.

The RP didn't take off, but that was definitely one of my wilder ones. It was also a situation where the OOC was fun as hell to write.

The truth is that if you have a crazy idea, pitch it and see what goes.

Most of my ideas are pretty weird, one that I had in mind but cant think of how to run it would be.

a war within virtual reality, Semi-Solipsistic Individualists versus Realist Collectivist.

Another idea is Temporal Technology is widespread allowing people to communicate with themselves in the past, while people are destined to send the message, the reason behind the message might change...and it might be sent by someone else using your phone. The plot would involve terrorists who will destroy the time machine, or perhaps the government will make up the destruction of the time machine. Time travel roleplays are hard to do.

My RP skills suffer to what I refer to as Gainaxing. I try an off the wall idea that will lead to an incredibly over-the-top epic finale, but in the process of building up, I lose the group.

I had this idea for an RP that starts 24 hours before the world ends. The ground cracks apart, and things disappear into the endless void. People that fall into the void are never seen again. At the end of the 24 hours, everything fades, and a new day dawns, or rather, the same day. The RP would continue in 24 hour cycles, with no characters remembering the previous cycles. Any physical damage characters took during the previous cycle still effects them (if someone is stabbed during one cycle, they will still have the wound during the next, but they wont remember being stabbed). Any characters who died will stay dead, and any important objects that fall into the void will stay missing.

Every single time I have a story idea, I think about making a roleplay of it. I used to do this with every idea, way back on OldGuild. Problem is, I'm not very good at explaining plots as a narrator, I'm not good at formatting, and groups don't tend to stick around once they gather.

Its also the reason I don't roleplay here anymore. Even on NuGuild, ideas have just not kicked off for me.

Since I am feeling rather sadistic at the moment I was going to do a no holds bar RP where my partner can do whatever they want to my two characters. Since it is free form there is no plot, just tons of sick shit that would have to be 18+ and done in PMs. I would have two characters, both victims, one is an asshole the other is a somewhat dumb character. However, calling her dumb might be the wrong word, probably more she does not get situations very well. The question is who is dark enough to go to such a place that is psychotic but at the same time know's it is not real and should not be repeated in real life? I mean if you wanted to you could cut the guys arm off and force his sister to eat it or something sick like that.

There is one thing, however, one of the two [Maybe both] will try to murder the one doing these sick things. By that, it is not forced though I would think having them die would be something we would both want near the end.

I normally don't do smut based RP's just because it becomes a one track thing like the plot suddenly never existed. I would have to think of the effects it could have on my partner, I know real life from fantasy but I may RP with some who does not. So it is a rather risky idea.

I guess overall the RP is pure dirt. If this makes me seem crazy and weird then fine I am that but everyone gets moments of madness, watching violence gives me blood lust like a vampire. Why must I feel so sadistic at the moment?

A multiverse fandom AU crossover.

The idea is that everyone takes a canon character from somewhere, puts their own AU-twist on the world that they come from and the character, and everyone's characters get thrown together into a team working for an interdimensional, world-hopping pseudo-police-force that deals with threats to the multiverse, world-hopping criminals, and threats to the structural integrity of different dimensions.

Tried to get it going once, got through one scene before people seemed to basically forget the setting and start doing shit / declaring 'facts' that made no contextual sense with what was going on. Also, didn't help that a lot of people seemed to lack the creativity to put any kind of AU spin on their characters. One person brought a cyborg Susie Derkins to the table though, and that was kinda cool.

I'm afraid to share my ideas because they're built on a plot twist, and I don't want to alienate players who signed up for a completely different premise. However, because I don't seem to have much luck as a GM on these forums, I think it would be most fun to share my concept with all of you.

In an exciting medieval kingdom, the ruler and their most trusted champion ultimately retire after leading their nation to glory in a few short years. They decide to travel to somewhere far away. However, the night before their journey, the find themselves in a dream. They don't recognize their own bodies, and appear to be alone on a beach. The forested island is full of dangerous creatures, other characters and a mysterious tribe. In real life, they've been asleep for just as long as they've been in their dreams. You can either play those outside these dreams, trying to maintain order, in addition to a number of characters who live on the island.

In retrospect, I could perhaps try to pitch this RP without the plot twist element.

I thought that'd make an interesting RP, but I am also definitely not trying to make other RP's for the moment. I'm burnt out and retention is an issue.

After sobering up, I reworked the idea into something they would enjoy.

Immensely scary. A good idea might be a good idea, but that doesn't mean you'll find more than maybe one interested person in there and with settings that have a very clear plotline, it's hard to work with competing creative ideas or getting people entirely synched up on something. Who steers it, right?

Another user and I did game out a Space Jam-inspired RP where a(n Anime) Japanese high school decides to become competitive in ice hockey...so they use the wealth of an industrialist whose daughter attends to get the best Canadian high school hockey players money can buy (hell, kidnapping?) to play other schools.

That sets off an arms race where the other schools' science labs churn out dangerous AI's and all the demon summoning books are checked out of the libraries and aliens are contacted. Pacts are made, AI's are unshackled, entire portions of the Earth traded away to alien overlords and so forth in order to beat this hockey team and be #1.

Of course it was meant to be over the top take on Anime.

It was an amusing idea that had zero chance at working in a forum.
